Publication number: 20080164256Abstract: The present invention discloses a small sized and high-pressurized container for preventing explosion. According to the preferred embodiment of the present invention, a can body has a shape of cylinder for containing high-pressurized product therein. An upper body, which has a dome-like shape, is connected to the top of the can body by seaming or welding, and comprises a groove around its lower part. A valve is mounted on the top of upper body, and discharges high-pressurized gases or liquids, which exists in the inside of the container. A plurality of scores is configured at the bottom of the groove of the upper body, in order to discharge an overpressurized product and prevent bursting or explosion of the container. The scores weaken the resistance of the upper body, so in the event of that a certain internal overpressure is applied, the upper body firstly deforms outwardly and then one or more scores are fractured, and lastly the overpressurized product is discharged from the scores.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 24, 2004Publication date: July 10, 2008Inventors: Don-Woo Youm, Byoung-Gu Kim, Do-Young Gil

Patent number: 7163121Abstract: A bond joint and process of bonding metal parts to one another to form seamless, hollow metal articles, particularly made from beryllium. Tooling is assembled to the parts, prior to hot pressing, to cause pressure to be applied to flanges that extend peripherally from the parts. The parts, assembled together with the tooling, are then subjected to hot isostatic pressing of the flanges at a temperature of about 1700° F. to 1750° F., and at a pressure of about 2000 psi to 2500 psi, for around 3 hours. The tooling surrounding the metal parts functions to limit the amount of compression of the flanges. Articles formed by this process are particularly useful in space flight applications because they are formed of a homogeneous material. This means that the articles can operate under high pressure despite being subjected to temperature cycling. Strength of the bond joint is enhanced because no filler metal is used.Type: GrantFiled: November 5, 1999Date of Patent: January 16, 2007Assignee: Swales & Associates, Inc.Inventors: Charles J. The closure member and the cylindrical body each have extensions or annular flanges (28, 58) which are spin welded together. The cylindrical body is fused to the closure member when the annular flange (28, 58) of the closure member is spin welded to an annular, outermost portion (18, 48) of the cylindrical body. The closure member and the cylindrical body are further locked together by inwardly rolling a portion of the annular wall into an annular groove (30, 60) and an outermost surface of the closure member.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 1996Date of Patent: January 5, 1999Assignee: Automotive Fluid Systems, Inc.Inventor: Robert J. Patent number: 5788112Abstract: A container and end adapted for closing and sealing the container with a double-seaming operation is provided which permits evacuating and back-flushing of gases out of and into the container while the end is in a seated and unseamed position on the container during the closing operation. The end includes a central circular panel, a chuck wall surrounding an outer periphery of the central panel and extending radially outwardly and upwardly from the central panel and a crown seaming panel surrounding the chuck wall and extending radially outwardly from the chuck wall and having an outer curled end for being double-seamed with a flanged upper end portion of the container for closing of the container. The end preferably includes sealing compound positioned on an inside surface of the chuck wall and the crown seaming panel.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 1996Date of Patent: August 4, 1998Assignee: Sonoco Products CompanyInventors: John Ellis Bacon, Teddy M. Patent number: 5772065Abstract: A shot glass is formed with a sloping, slightly tapered side wall. A curved cup bottom wall extends across the bottom of the shot glass and is spaced upward from the bottom edge of the shot glass side wall. The cup bottom wall has a thicker central portion and a thinner annular peripheral portion, and upper and lower surfaces of the cup bottom wall are formed with different radii of curvature. The bottom surface has a larger radius and the upper surface has a smaller surface for forming a lens. The base has a base wall and a peripheral side wall which extends upward from the base wall. A thin peripheral ring extends downward from outer edges of the base wall to form a foot. The cylindrical side wall of the base has a flat upper surface on which is formed an energy directing bead. The side wall of the base fits inside a bottom edge of the shot glass, and the energy directing bead contacts an inner step in the shot glass side wall slightly above the lower edge.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 1997Date of Patent: June 30, 1998Assignee: Howw Manufacturing Company, Inc.Inventor: Michael P. Patent number: 5743422Abstract: A collapsible, fiber, bulk container which is made-up of a plurality of sidewalls joined by connectors to form a tubular body. The body is closed off by top and bottom members telescopically engaging said body. The bottom may be reinforced by a strut member to insure that the bottom does not warp and collapse. A reinforcing strap is also secured around the body.Type: GrantFiled: July 8, 1994Date of Patent: April 28, 1998Assignee: Greif Bros. CorporationInventor: James Albert Hale

Patent number: 5713484Abstract: A two-piece plastic container and removable cover is provided which is particularly adaptable for containing flowable products. The removable cover comprises a one-piece molded generally circular cover having an annular sealing projection extending generally downwardly in a perpendicular direction from an outer periphery of the cover and an annular locking projection extending generally upwardly in a perpendicular direction from the outer periphery of the cover. The container comprises a one-piece molded cylindrical body having a closed bottom and an open top. Two spaced concentric annular inside and outside projections extend longitudinally upwardly from the open top of the body of the container and define therebetween a cover sealing cavity for receiving the cover sealing projection and cooperating therewith to seal the cover on the container.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 1996Date of Patent: February 3, 1998Assignee: Sonoco Products CompanyInventor: Thomas J.
