The flange has an annular V-shaped notch ring in the upper surface and a plural number of protrusive stubs on the lower surface thereof to strength the binding with the liner for withstanding high pressure without leaking or rupture.

Abstract: A bung is provided for sealing an opening in a pressure vessel. The bung includes an annular body portion and a flange extending radially outwardly for one end of the body. In one embodiment the flange includes an inner inclined surface adjacent the annular body portion. In an alternate embodiment, the vessel includes an inclined or angled engagement surface adjacent the vessel opening. A gasket is provided between the flange of the bung and the engagement surface adjacent the vessel opening. The inclined surface of the bung and/or the vessel urges the gasket radially inwardly upon the bung being threaded into the pressure vessel opening.

Abstract: In a vertical digester for producing chemical pulp, or other vessel for treating a slurry of comminuted fibrous cellulosic material, the cost of manufacturing the shell is significantly reduced by eliminating the external step increases in the digester shell. The digester shell has a substantially constant internal diameter from just below the inlet to just above the outlet, screen assemblies being provided by an internal transition (e.g. conical) having an angle of convergence of less than 40.degree. (e.g. about 10-25.degree.) above each screen assembly so that the slurry flows through the transition without bridging or hang-up, and a step increase, or other increase, in diameter back to the first diameter after the screen assembly.

  • Patent number: 5984138
Abstract: Tanks, such as air tanks and other compressed gas tanks as well as fuel tanks, have bushings formed by flowdrilling holes in the tanks after the tanks have been configured in substantially their final shape. The bushings are of the same material and unitary with the tank walls and have smooth bores which receive push-to-connect couplings. The push-to-connect couplings have at least two annular barbs which engage the walls of the bushings with an interference fit so as to prevent withdrawal of the push-to-connect couplings. The push-to-connect couplings are sealed with O-rings disposed between the barbs. The depth of insertion is determined by an annular flange on an outer collar of the push-to-connect coupling which engages the outside surface of an outer rim of the bushing.
