Internal Straw Attached To Movable Closure Patents (Class 220/707)
  • Patent number: 6050444
Abstract: A consumable beverage dispenser is provided having a collapsible beverage container, a valve assembly, and a flexible tube or straw. The collapsible beverage container has at least one opening and the valve assembly is secured to the container at the opening. The valve assembly includes a flexible diaphragm disposed across the flow path such that beverage flow is permitted only outwardly from the container. The flexible tube extends outwardly from the valve assembly. When a user exerts sucking action on the end of the flexible tube, beverage is made to flow from the container out through the one-way valve assembly and into the flexible tube. As beverage is withdrawn, the container collapses and, when the user stops drinking, the flexible diaphragm closes to prevent air and back flow from entering the container. In one embodiment, the flexible tube is slidable within the valve assembly between an open and a closed position.

  • Patent number: 5848721
Abstract: A beverage container has a straw-dispensing mechanism that is disposed within the container to bring a straw or prize delivery device into alignment with the orifice in the top of the container. When the orifice is opened, the straw or prize delivery device elevates through the orifice to become accessible to the user. In one embodiment, two straws engage a floating member which is urged against the lid of the container. When the container is opened by deflecting a closure tab into the container, the closure tab engages a cam surface on the floating member and imparts rotational motion to the floating member. The floating member rotates until one of the straws is aligned with the open orifice and a buoyant member associated with the straw elevates the straw through the orifice. In a second embodiment, one of the straws is replaced with the prize delivery device.

Abstract: A beverage dispenser including a container having a tubular sleeve permanently secured therein. The upper end of the sleeve is provided with a peripheral collar which is secured to the top wall of the container. The lower end of the sleeve is positioned adjacent the bottom wall of the container. A drinking straw, having a compressed, accordion section, is slidably positioned within the sleeve. A releasable seal is adhesively secured atop the collar to close the opening in the upper end of the sleeve. Removal of the seal permits the compressed, accordion section to elongate and extend the upper end of the straw from the container.
