The receptacle, including the integral cup, can be inexpensively and rapidly produced by a molding process from plastic materials, such as polyethylene. Methods of making such a receptacle are also disclosed, together with methods for transferring liquids between the main compartment and the cup compartment.

    Abstract: Storage devices for paint rollers, paint roller covers, and paint brushes. The storage devices for the paint rollers and paint roller covers are cylindrical containers, having a lid, which are flared outwardly at their upper portions and have a foam insert at the bottom for forming a spongy seal with the painting implement. The container for the cover has a core in it over and around which the roller cover fits. The paint implement holder may be a foam insert which is sized to fit inside of a paint can, e.g. a one or a five gallon can. The foam inserts have openings for receiving one or more paint implements. Alternatively, the paint brush holder is a rectangular-shaped container having a foam insert fitted to its upper portion. The exterior of the insert is sized to fit the container. The insert has an opening for holding a paint brush collar to allow the bristles to be in the container without touching the bottom. The insert keeps the brush wet and from drying out.

    Abstract: A paint apparatus is disclosed having a plurality of trays for use with a paint roller. A paint reservoir within each tray retains the paint. A grid portion is integrally formed in a lower surface of the paint apparatus, and has a plurality of channels and/or projections. The paint apparatus is also included in a kit containing paint application devices, practice paper, and instructional materials. The paint apparatus is further provided with a metering system which includes a plurality of grids and a mesh structure. The stackable grids are placed within the paint reservoir and permit the paint to wick up to a top surface of the stackable grids. During use of the apparatus, a user fills the paint reservoir with paint to a point below the top surface of the stackable grids. The user the rolls the rolling device over the grids, thereby loading the nap portion with paint.

    Abstract: The invention relates to an attachment piece designed to fit onto the top of conventional paint cans in order to provide a seal to stop paint from dripping onto the rim of the can, to provide two scrapers so that the excess paint on the brush can be scraped off and returned to the can, this scraping action also sharpens the paint brush edge allowing for more precise application of the paint, the device also provides a convenient rest for the paint brush. The attachment piece comprises of a round plastic lid with the center cut out to create the scrapers and rests. The outer edge of the lid has a lip encompassing it's entire circumference. The purpose of the lip is to secure the attachment to the paint can. In addition, there is a wedge shaped seal running the full circumference of the device that, when attached to the can, will fit into the grove of the paint can and act as a further seal to prevent paint from entering the rim of the paint can.

One secondary use of these metal cans is for painting applications such as trim painting. The accessory disclosed herein enables metal cans of the aforementioned type, typically having a continuous bead around the apex end of the can, to be easily utilized for such painting applications. The reusable accessory comprises a handle having an upper and lower end and a grippable portion disposed between them. A lid is hingedly attached to the upper end of the handle, the lid having an upper and lower surface, the lower surface having at least one continuous lip suitable to engage the bead of the can. Additionally, the lid has a cutout through which a paint brush may pass which is particularly configured so as to enable a paint brush to hang suspended in the can from the lid. The can is secured to the handle by a variety of mechanisms.

A lid-sized elastic band 52 is used to press the original lid 12 against the conical inner wall 38 to keep the contents in a useable condition. A flexible annular ledge 40 provides for its lower part 42 to sealingly engage the inner peripheral bead 16 of the paint can 12. Due to a predeterminate width of the lower part 42 of the annular ledge 40, this lower part 42 always sits on the top of the inner peripheral bead 16 of the paint can 12, even though there are variations in diameter of the opening of the paint can 12. The paint can attachment 10 also provides a spout 54 which can be used in pouring as well as to rest a paint brush 64.

The container has the shape of a hollow, substantially rectangular box. The two shallow members open so as to allow positioning a paintbrush therein, and the shallow members can be closed upon each in clam shell fashion to close the container. An opening is provided in the top wall of the container to allow the handle of a paintbrush to extend from the container. Each shallow member has a layer of closed cell foam material positioned along the inside of the upper wall of the shallow member.
