Publication number: 20090230082Abstract: A cup adhesion device is described as an inexpensive cup with compressible interior tabs, having the ability to slip around the bottom of a storage bottle and be held tightly by compressive forces as the tabs are flexed. Nonpreferred embodiments have the tabs replaced with small compressible invaginations into the cup's sidewall, or are two part designs that require a prior art cup to be clipped to the adhesion device as it is gripping the bottom of the bottle. All embodiments allow for the later removal of the cup to allow it to be used as a fluid containment medium for some of the contents of the bottle. This allows for a hygienic transfer of fluid to an individual or small animal without the recipient drinking directly from the bottle, and either the convenient storage of the cup back around the bottom of the bottle for later additional use, or the disposal of the used cup if no longer required.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 11, 2008Publication date: September 17, 2009Inventor: Heidi Dickerson

Patent number: 7581704Abstract: The cupholder apparatus removably receives a cup of liquid, typically beverage. The apparatus separates a user's hand from the cup, thereby providing protection from temperature extremes of the cup's liquid and the cup. The apparatus is especially effective with disposable cups and is provided in more than one embodiment. Both embodiments provide a flattened tapered ring to removably receive a cup, especially a tapered one. The first apparatus embodiment has a handle with a clip which movably extends over the cup. The clip provides spring-loaded downward pressure atop the cup, thereby providing cup retention within the ring. Button depression releases the clip from atop the cup, thereby releasing the cup for removal. The second embodiment provides a handle with orifice and a loop with orifice on the opposite ring side, an elastic band selectively disposed over a cup lid and a cup within the ring.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 2008Date of Patent: September 1, 2009Inventor: Dennis D. Patent number: 7537136Abstract: A foldable air insulating sleeve for insulating beverage and food containers is herein provided. More particularly, the foldable air insulating sleeve secures a cup in a manner that leaves a pocket of air surrounding the cup. This provides for improved temperature regulation and sufficient thermal insulation to assist the user in firmly grasping and handling the cup despite excess heat or condensation caused by the temperature of the cup's contents. Because the bases of most disposable cups are narrower than their respective rims, more air and thus greater insulation is found towards the bottom of cups secured by foldable air insulating sleeves. The wider base also gives such cups more stability. Support rings may be placed medially in on the inside of the sleeve to strengthen the sleeve and prevent it from collapsing when held by a user. The sleeve may also be short so as to insulate a medial portion of a cup.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 2004Date of Patent: May 26, 2009Inventor: Laurent Hechmati

Patent number: 7458481Abstract: A drink-item holding apparatus incorporates an upper flap and a lower flap which may be unfolded from a stowed configuration to a deployed configuration in which the upper flap is releasably latched in its horizontal position. Projections at the rear edge of the upper flap resiliently push in L-shaped arms against the biasing action of springs until the projections snap past the arms which then serve to latch the upper flap in its deployed configuration. The upper flap may be rotated in the reverse direction in order to unlatch the projections so as to return to the stowed configuration. The upper flap is therefore protected against inadvertent downward rotation. The lower flap folds away upwards, and the upper flap folds away downwards against the lower surface of the lower flap in order to produce a compact arrangement of the apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: October 27, 2004Date of Patent: December 2, 2008Assignee: John Manufacturing LimitedInventor: John Se-Kit Yuen
