Abstract: A fastening mechanism for a package device is provided, which includes a plurality of first protrusions stagger-arranged in two rows at an edge of a lid of the package device, wherein a gap is formed between the two rows of the first protrusions; a second protrusion formed on an edge of a body of the package device and corresponding in position to the gap; at least a projection formed on the edge of the body and substantially opposed in position to the second protrusion; and at least a recess formed on the edge of the lid and corresponding in position to the projection of the body. By coupling the lid to the body, the second protrusion is engaged with the gap between the first protrusions, and the projection of the body is engaged with the recess of the lid, so as to provide strong fastening effect for the package device.

Abstract: A form, fill and seal packaging machine for forming, filling and sealing a carton, molds a closure directly onto the carton. The machine includes a carton erection station adapted to receive a carton in a generally flat form and to erect the flat form carton into a tubular form defining an internal carton region. A direct injection molding station has an internal mold tool and an external mold tool. The internal mold tool is configured for receipt within the internal carton region and the internal mold tool and the external mold tool are configured to receive and clamp the carton therebetween. The direct injection molding station further includes a polymer injection system for injecting polymer from a location external of the carton to the internal mold tool. The closure is directly molded in place on the carton. A mold tool set, a method for carrying out the molding and a closure molded thereby are also disclosed.

Abstract: A container having a cover and a base for holding cosmetics is disclosed. The container includes a hinge having a spring and coupling the cover to the base and configured for pivoting the cover from a closed position to an opened position relative to the base. The spring is in a tensioned configuration when the cover is in the closed position and the spring is in an at least partially relaxed configuration when the cover is in the opened position. A container having a damper coupled to the hinge and configured to limit pivoting of the cover relative to the base at rate of about 90 to 120 degrees per second is also disclosed. A container for holding cosmetics and having a first platform and a second platform. A method for assembling a container for holding cosmetics is also disclosed.

Abstract: An apparatus for automatically latching and unlatching the lid of a container is disclosed which includes a weight pivotally mounted on the side of the container for movement between first and second positions. The weight is positively connected to a latch by a connecting rod, and as the weight pivots between first and second positions, it move the latch between latching and unlatching positions. Tipping the container causes the weight to shift thus the container is unlatched only when it is being dumped. A method for operating the latch is also disclosed.

Abstract: A storage box includes an upper cover integrally connected at a rear edge to a lower cover. The upper and the lower covers are provided along their peripheral edges with a recess and a flange, respectively, that engage with each other when the upper cover is closed onto the lower cover. Upper and lower marginal belts surrounding the recess and the flange, respectively, are provided with projections, so that a gap always exists between the two marginal belts to facilitate easy opening of the upper cover relative to the lower cover. The recess and the flange are provided with tongues that abut on each other to lock the upper cover to the lower cover but allow a fit clearance between the recess and the flange, so that the upper and the lower covers would not become stuck at the recess and the flange.

Abstract: A plug comprises a plug body serving as the plug of a container for holding beverage and a lid body. A hinge and a lock device are arranged opposing to each other. A lip portion protrudes from the top plate of the plug body. A liquid-passage hole is formed in the lip portion. The upper surface of the lip portion is made into a tapering shape that is highest at the lock device side and lowest at the hinge side. The resilient member that forces the lid body towards an opening direction protrudes from the top plate of the lid body. An air hole is set in the top plate of the plug body and the resilient member is set to vertically block the air hole when the lid body is closed.

The container body 2 includes side walls in a double-wall structure composed of an inner wall 21 and an outer wall 20, the inner wall 21 being projected longer than the outer wall 20. The cover 3 includes attached walls each of which is provided with an outer groove 27 defined between an outer wall portion 29 and a middle wall portion 30, and an inner groove 28 defined between the middle wall portion 30 and an inner wall portion 31, so that the cover 3 can be mounted to the container body 2 by respectively inserting the inner wall 21 and the outer wall 20 of the container body into the inner groove 28 and the outer groove 27 of the cover.

Abstract: A paintball container comprises a body 12 and a lid 14. The lid 14 is hinged to the body 12 at one side, and has a tab 42 at the other side to facilitate opening of the container. The body 12 has a guard 26 formed on it adjacent to the tab 42 on the lid. The guard is substantially U-shaped and bounds a recess 30 into which a user can insert their thumb to pull up the tab 42 to release the lid. The guard 26 prevents accidental opening of the lid, for example when the container is being removed from a harness in which it is being carried.

Abstract: An air sealable and preferably air and water sealable container having an automatically actuable pressure equalizing valve primarily adapted for operation upon opening and closing of the container. The pressure equalizing valve, which is in the nature of a pressure relief valve, is automatically actuable to allow air pressure in the container to equalize with an ambient pressure to enable easy opening of a lid of the container.

Abstract: In an opening-closing mechanism of a door member for shifting the door member from a closed position for closing an opening portion of a base member to an open position and vice versa, the door member includes a pair of arm portions. Each arm portion includes a circular arc shape gear and a rotary gear disposed in a center of the circular arc of the gear. The base member includes a first fixed gear portion with internal teeth engaging the circular arc shape gear portion, and a second fixed gear portion disposed inside the first fixed gear engaging the rotary gear. The arm portion is held to move vertically through engagements between the first fixed gear portion and the circular arc shape gear portion and between the rotary gear and the second fixed gear portion, so that the door member is shifted along a path corresponding to the first fixed gear portion.

Abstract: A damping mechanism for an opening and closing member that opens and closes an opening while changing a center of rotation has an arm with damped rotational speed to support a shaft part of the opening and closing member. A position of the shaft part with respect to the arm is changed along with the opening and closing operation of the opening and closing member by a guide member. The arm is urged toward an opening direction of the opening and closing member by a forcing member, and the opening and closing member is maintained in a closed state against the force of the forcing member by a locking member.

Abstract: A tamper evident hinge type closure includes, as is conventional in such closures, a body portion, a lid portion and a hinge portion. Advantageously, at least one tamper evident band is provided so as to mechanically secure the lid portion to the body portion at a position that is distal from the hinge. The tamper evident band, which is designed to break upon initial opening of the closure by a consumer, is preferably integral with both the body portion and the lid portion, so as to ensure more reliably than was possible with interlocking mechanical tamper evident structures that the closure may not be opened without defeating the tamper evident band. A process for making the improved closures is also disclosed.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a container comprises a basket and a lid. The basket has a base, a pair of sidewalls, and a pair of endwalls. The base, pair of sidewalls, and pair of endwalls are integrally connected. The pair of sidewalls and the pair of endwalls integrally extend outwardly to form a first latching portion. The base forms a concave channel, a first concave region, and a second concave region. The concave channel extends along a major axis of the base. The first concave region extends from the concave channel to one of the pair of sidewalls, and the second concave region extends from the concave channel to the other of the pair of sidewalls. At least one of the sidewalls and endwall intersections forms a wall ventilation aperture. The lid is connected to the first latching portion of the base. The lid has a second latching portion corresponding to the first latching portion of the base. The first and second latching portions are adapted to retain the lid and the basket in a closed relationship.

Abstract: A storage container, such as a tackle box, with well protected latches and hinges which can be easily repaired if they are damaged. The front latches and rear hinges preferably use inserts which are formed separately from the upper and lower tackle box trays. The rear hinge insert, for example, preferably takes the form of a U-shaped piece of molded plastic with a thinned plastic section in its middle to act as an internal hinge for the insert. The walls of this U-shaped insert are pressure fitted into slots formed into the interior of the upper and lower trays. The front latch insert is preferably formed from an approximately flat piece of plastic which has a bar at an open spaced end and a solid, flanged snap at the other end. Both the bar and the snap for this front insert are received into grooved catches which are formed onto both the upper and lower trays.

Abstract: A dispensing article, particularly for dispensing towelettes, is provided and includes a container body for storing the towelettes and a lid hingedly attached to the body. The container is formed from a floor panel, left and right side panels, front and rear panels. A button flap unitarily formed with the front wall includes a button projecting outwardly from a surface thereof. The lid includes a latch flap unitarily formed therewith and projecting downward toward the container body. An aperture is formed in the latch flap shaped to receive the button. Latch and button flaps are more flexible than other sections of the lid and container body panels. This flexibility allows for an easy to use, relatively inexpensive locking mechanism and provides good sealing characteristics. A refill canister can be placed within the container body.

Abstract: A two stage dispensing cap for a carbonated beverage container is described. The cap has a flip top which is hingedly connected to a collar wherein the collar is rotatable on the container. The cap, upon rotation of the collar, is first opened into a venting position wherein the flip top vents the pressurized contents of the container but remains locked partially closed. Continued rotation of the cap releases the locked flop top to allow the container to be fully opened. A set of cams on the container neck work in conjunction with annular beads to first allow partially opening of the flip top into the venting position and then allowing it to fully open.

Abstract: An easy-open lid assembly for a bottle has a body connected to the bottle, a socket centrally defined in the body, a nipple received in the socket, a straw connected to the nipple and extending into the bottle, a first spring disposed around the nipple, a lid hinged to the body, and a pushbutton. The lid is able to be closed for convenient transportation, or a user is able to push the pushbutton to open the lid and the nipple will rise out of the socket automatically for the user to easily access the beverage in the bottle.

Abstract: An electrical enclosure includes a metal body and a metal cover connected by a hinge to each other. The hinge includes one or more integrally formed tubes in the metal body and one or more integrally formed tubes in the metal cover. The body tubes and the cover tubes are aligned in a collinear arrangement and a hinge shaft is located within the body tubes and the cover tubes. The enclosure can have a dual flange structure wherein one of the side walls includes a flat flange and three of the side walls include edge flanges. The enclosure can also have a structure wherein each of the side walls upper portions is connected to its neighboring upper portions and each of these upper portion connections is angled relative to its corresponding side wall corner.

Abstract: A container particularly adapted for small confectionery items and the like has a bottom with a floor and surrounding walls. The rear wall is of reduced height in comparison to the other walls. A cover having a rear wall pivotally affixed to a top edge of the bottom rear wall. When the cover is in a vertical position the cover's rear wall extends horizontally rearwardly from the bottom rear wall, forming a balcony-like extension to the floor, allowing product to be loaded into the container to be supported thereon during a filling process. When the cover is closed the product on the balcony is directed into the main container volume, allowing a more dense packing of the product to be achieved.

Abstract: A storage unit is disclosed. The storage unit includes a base having a rim, a cover movable between a closed position and an open position, and a latch configured to releasably couple the cover to the base. The latch includes a user interface configured to pivot between a first position and a second position, a post configured to be at least partially disposed in an aperture in the rim when the user interface is in the second position, and an attachment member that extends from the user interface and is configured to provide a fulcrum about which the user interface pivots.

Abstract: A container has two tray sections that fold over each other along a living hinge. Each of the trays is defined by a recessed domes that is contained within the hinge and lip surfaces opposite and on either side of the hinge. A contoured flap containing a cavity extends from a forward edge of the front of one of the tray lips. A step is provided in the other tray's lip. When the container is closed, the flap may be folded over the step where a recess in the flap engages a detent in the step. A lip extends about the flap cavity and provides a continues tab around the step parts of which facilitate a consumer flipping the flap out of engagement with the step thereby facilitate opening of a closed container.

Latching the container includes closing the lid on the container base, sliding the lever, slide and lid latch inward toward the container base, and engaging the lid with the latch. Sliding the slide in the receiver in the base engages the detent. Lifting the lid latch and rotating the lever around the fulcrum flexes the slide and arcs the detent away from the holder, releasing the slide and subsequently releasing the lid.

The top member is hingeably connected to the base member when attached and is positively locked to the base member in the attached closed position. The top member is easily opened and closed with one hand when attached to the base member, and facilitates high volume sample processing, e.g., of tissue samples for the purpose of histological determinations.

Abstract: A dispensing cover for a container accommodating an article to be dispensed, such as a wet towel. The surface of the cover has an opening therein providing access to the article, and a hinged lid of deformable, elastic material swingable from an erect, open position to expose the opening to a position overlying and closing the opening, the lid having at its front end a locking element. Cooperating with the lid is a locking member coupled to the surface of the cover, the member having a locking edge which when the lid is closed, then engages the locking element to maintain the lid in a closed state. To open the lid, the locking member is depressed to deform the lid to an extent effecting disengagement of the locking element from the locking edge to permit the lid to spring up as a result of the elastic energy it gained when being deformed.

A lid comprising two panels is provided, each panel having first and second side edges and a hinge edge, the first side edges being detachably and pivotally secured to the pivot member. A hinge operatively connects the hinge edges of the two panels. Resilient flanges are provided on the second side edges of the panels to releasably engage shoulders formed on an upper edge of the second side wall when the lid is closed. To nest multiple containers one within another, the lid is removed from the side wall, folded 180° about its hinge, rotated 90° and placed in the bottom of the container. Another container is then placed in the container and the process is repeated.

Abstract: A new and improved apparatus is disclosed for allowing military people, hunters, campers, travelers, survivalists, truck drivers and other individuals to easily carry toiletries and other small items. The apparatus would comprise a sturdy plastic case which would have a base and a lid. The plastic case would preferably be approximately 11½ inches by 11½ inches, which would allow the plastic case to fit in a government issue duffle bag or M1 bag.

Abstract: A device for holding tire chains which differs from the prior art in that it features double doors that open widely with only 5″ of clearance above the chain hanger. The container comprises a base for holding the food item and a cover hingedly mounted to the base and movable between an open and closed position. The cover has a latch wipe opening that is sized to receive a tab extending from the base. The latch wipe opening has a generally rectangular shape. During the manufacturing process, the material in which the latch wipe opening is formed is pre-cooled to reduce the tendency of the latch wipe opening to deform. Further, the form against which the latch wipe opening is formed has a knurled portion that engages the container material above the latch wipe opening to further prevent the deforming of the latch wipe opening during manufacturing.

Abstract: A wet wipe container having improved opening and improved tear resistance between the lid and the base among other features. The container includes a container base and a container lid that is connected to the container base. In one embodiment, the container lid has a guide ridge that extends downward into the interior of the container. The guide ridge permits the container lid to be in a partially open position and provides better alignment between the container lid and the container base during closing of the container. In another embodiment, the container includes a closure that has an upwardly extending tongue projection, a flattened grip area and an assistive region to increase the ease with which the container can be opened. Abstract: A sterilization container for medical instruments includes a receptacle with a bottom wall and an open top, there being a multiplicity of vent openings in the bottom wall. The receptacle has a cover movable between a closed position wherein the cover closes the open top of the receptacle and an open position wherein the cover is positioned to allow access to the interior of the receptacle. A filter sheet is positioned in the receptacle so as to cover the bottom wall and the vent openings therein and the receptacle contains one or more trays for supporting medical instruments above the filter sheet. A perforated highly thermally conductive plate is positioned between the trays and the filter sheet so that when steam enters the container through the vent openings during steam sterilization, it heats the plate to a temperature sufficient to revaporize steam condensate collecting on the plate. The internal structure of the container is also disclosed.

Abstract: The present invention provides a display container for retaining retail sales products. The display container includes a housing having a bottom portion having a plurality of sides and a top portion which can engage the bottom portion to form an enclosure within which the retail merchandise can reside. The housing is in a closed orientation when the top portion is engaged with the bottom portion. The top portion is preferably interconnected with one of the plurality of sides of the bottom portion so that the top portion can engage the bottom portion to form the enclosure. The housing further includes a tamper proof clasp or snap closure mechanism. The snap closure mechanism includes a latch strap and a lip over which the latch strap can extend, the latch strap having a strap surface extending away from a first portion. The latch strap further includes a catch protruding away from the strap surface to define a catch face generally extending away from the strap surface at an angle of about 90°.
