Abstract: A fuel filler door module for installation in a motor vehicle is provided with a trough body that can be placed in a vehicle body along with a fuel filler door pivoted to the trough body. The trough body exhibits an axial through opening for accommodating a fuel filler neck, and a radially outwardly projecting fastening edge for attachment to the motor vehicle body. The fastening edge has a flexible sealing element arranged on it with a first sealing section that forms a sealing abutment against an interior side of the fuel filler door, extends in the radial direction and can be deformed in an axial direction.

  • Patent number: 8991629
Abstract: The invention relates to a capless filler neck having an upper closure flap 2 and a lower closure flap 3, which are arranged in a pipe section 1. The two closure flaps 2, 3 must be able to seal independently of one another. In known capless filler necks, this has the effect that, when the filler pipe 4 of a fuel nozzle is still partially inserted, the lower closure flap 3 is already closed, whereas the user still has the impression that tank filling can be carried out. As a result, fuel collects between the two closure flaps 2, 3. The invention prevents this in that the lower closure flap 3 is opened or held open by the upper closure flap 2 or by an actuating element even when the filler pipe 4 is no longer in contact with the lower closure flap 2.

Abstract: Systems and methods for assembling a fuel filler system for use in a vehicle are provided. A locking bracket is coupled within an end of a fuel filler tube. At least one passage is defined in the locking bracket for facilitating insertion of a closure device into the fuel filler tube end. At least one anti-removal structure on the closure device passes through the at least one passage during insertion of the closure device. The at least one anti-removal structure precludes removal of the closure device after insertion of the closure device, and rotation of the closure device from a first rotational position relative to the locking bracket to a second rotational position. First and second anti-rotation structures extending from the closure device engage first and second ends of the locking bracket to prevent further rotation of the closure device.

Abstract: To obtain a fuel filler structure for a fuel tank wherein when causing an opening and closing valve to close, it can be ensured that the opening and closing valve does not rapidly rotate to a closed position in which it closes a fuel fill inlet, and when causing the opening and closing valve to open, the opening and closing valve can be opened with a small force. A fuel filler structure is equipped with a damper on the near side of a flapper valve in the insertion direction of a fuel nozzle. When the flapper valve rotates to an open position, the damper does not act on the flapper valve, and when the flapper valve rotates to a closed position, the damper acts on the flapper valve.

Abstract: The invention is based on the insight that a filling system obtained by combining a “Kruse” compatible threaded socket and an annular magnet as required for the operation of the “Elaflex” nozzle, will exhibit air exchange problems related to the difference in the positioning of the respective air intake openings of the “Kruse” bottle and the “Elaflex” nozzle. More particularly, the invention is based on the insight that by judiciously providing a chamber in fluid communication with the volume of air or vapor in the tank, filling may be made possible with a “Kruse” bottle as well as with an “Elaflex” nozzle.

Abstract: The invention relates to an in particular capless neck end for a container, in particular a fuel container, with a double-flap closure which is formed by an upper pivoting flap (12) and a lower sealing flap (2). Neck ends of this type are known from WO 2006/084908. These known neck ends require too much installation space and are not optimally protected from the contents of the container being pumped out. This is improved by the invention in that the lower sealing flap is arranged in such a manner that it is arranged at an angle to the transverse section plane arranged at right angles to the neck axis (S) when in the closed state, and either the articulation point or, when in the closed state, the end opposite the articulation point of the lower sealing flap is arranged above the lower end of the first circular segment path. Furthermore, an anti-theft means (25) in the form of a mechanical barrier is provided below the double-flap closure.

Abstract: A method and structure are described for preventing the accidental introduction of an incorrect liquid into a tank, such as the introduction of gasoline into the fuel system of a diesel-powered vehicle. In a first embodiment, the entrance to a fill tube of a diesel-powered vehicle is configured with a sensor ring. When an incorrect fueling operation is attempted, such as the introduction of gasoline into the fuel tank of a diesel-powered vehicle, at least one but fewer than all of displaceable mechanical elements are displaced, and the sensor ring alerts the operator visually and/or audibly before fueling starts, thereby preventing incorrect fueling.
