Publication number: 20150053724Abstract: A dispenser for viscous, extrudable materials uses a sprocket-driven push chain that is drawn from a chain magazine responsive to actuation of a user trigger. The sprocket for the chain is driven by a toothed wheel, which is driven by a first, ratcheting drive pawl, which is actuated by the trigger. A second ratcheting locking pawl prevents the toothed wheel and hence the chain sprocket from rotating backward when the trigger is released. A single “button” or actuator can be actuated by one hand of a user while the user's other hand grasps a chain retractor to pull an extended chain back to a starting position whereat the dispenser can be reloaded.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 31, 2014Publication date: February 26, 2015Applicant: Prince Castle LLCInventors: Loren Veltrop, Karl Heinze, Edward Eaton, Brian W. Patent number: 8235254Abstract: An articulated driving mechanism for a dispenser which in one embodiment is a caulking gun has a series of rigid links that are secured to one another by pins. The pins can slide in a slot which allows the links to space away from one another in a first position or be squeezed side by side which then prevents any rotation in a second position. The links all have ratchet teeth to engage two different driving wheels. The two driving wheels rotate at different speeds which allows the links to be consistently opened before reaching a circumferential wheel so that then the spaced links can rotate and safely and reliably rotate as they follow the circumference of the wheel. The articulated driving mechanism is used as a substitute for a push rod in a caulking gun in at least one embodiment.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 2005Date of Patent: August 7, 2012Assignee: M. Patent number: 5062551Abstract: The present invention is directed toward a material dispensing container that uses a flexible band to drive a piston within a storage container. The band is so formed so that it can be easily wound or folded within a small area at the bottom of the storage container. The band is connected to a piston within the container, and the movement of the band forces materials stored above the piston to be dispensed through any dispensing orifice at the top of the container. The band drives the piston by being forced through a tapered conduit. The passage of the band through the conduit, orients the band and causes the band to loose some of its flexibility. The stiffened band is then used to drive the piston. The passage of the band through the tapered conduit also orients the band so that extensions, stemming from the band, can be engaged and forwardly advanced by the user.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 1990Date of Patent: November 5, 1991Assignee: Delta Dispensing, Inc.Inventors: Charles Goldstein, Kenneth P. Patent number: 4957223Abstract: A dispenser gun having a hollow tubular body member for receiving a cartridge of flowable material therein, and a removable cap member to maintain the cartridge within the body member so that a nozzle of the cartridge extends through an opening in the cap member. The body member includes a trigger mechanism for acting upon a cam retaining mechanism to disengage a cable into a released position to allow a spring biased pressure disc, which is connected to the cable, to act upon the cartridge to dispense or discharge the flowable material therefrom. In the non-discharging position, the cam retaining mechanism engages the cable in a locked position so that the cable prevents any forward movement of the pressure disc against the cartridge. The cartridge can be of either the disposable type or the reusable type, where a liquid impermeable insert bag can be inserted within the reusable type cartridge.Type: GrantFiled: August 14, 1989Date of Patent: September 18, 1990Inventor: Moishe Beilush

Patent number: 4917273Abstract: The present invention relates to a strap dispenser formed from a tubular container with a product outlet. Within a chamber defined by the container is a piston intregally formed with a strap which advances the piston toward the outlet to dispense material in the chamber. The strap extends toward the outlet within the chamber but passes through an opening outside of the chamber and into a slot formed in the container's periphery. It is the portion of the strap extending outside the chamber that enables actuation of the piston. The opening is defined by a guide around which the strap bends as it moves toward the opening and a wiper which with the guide removes material from the strap. The piston may be formed from a plurality of ribs each having a cutout to pass around the container surface which defines the slot. The smooth surface of the slot and the strap enables the entire contents of the chamber to be quickly dispensed at one time.Type: GrantFiled: October 6, 1988Date of Patent: April 17, 1990Assignee: Risdon CorporationInventor: Richard H. Patent number: 4793526Abstract: A paste dispenser comprising an elongated tubular body having a central bore for containing a paste product therein with a dispensing outlet positioned at one end portion of the tube, a follower plate movably disposed within the bore of the tubular body at one end portion thereof, defining an end portion for containing paste contained within the tube. The initial position of the plate is at an opposite end of the tube from the outlet when the tube is filled with paste, a transverse plate is positioned at the end portion of the tubular body adjacent the outlet, and a rotatable drum is mounted on the tubular body at the transverse plate. A pivotally moving support is mounted at one end portion of the tubular body providing a gripping surface which can be manually forced to move the pivot between first and second positions, and a biasing spring for urging the pivot to assume the first position combines with a ratchet for urging a rotation of the drum in one rotational direction.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 1987Date of Patent: December 27, 1988Assignee: Charles C. Patent number: 4410105Abstract: Apparatus and method for dispensing a gel containing seeds for planting. A container (11) has a piston (13) driven by a lead screw (14) for expressing the gel through outlet (12). A line (17) is wound around a control rotor (16) and a free end is secured at a fixed location (19). As container (11) is moved away from location (19), line (17) unwinds and rotates rotor (16) to express the gel at a rate related to the movement of the container (11), so that the operator does not have to match the dispensing rate to the rate of movement. In other arrangements the container moves towards the fixed location, or between two fixed locations. Other metering members may replace the line. Materials other than seeds in gel may be dispensed.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 1979Date of Patent: October 18, 1983Inventor: Ian E. Currah
