  • Patent number: 11999537
Abstract: A lid for a drinking container includes a lid body, a poppet mouthpiece and a resilient sealing member. The lid body defines a longitudinal axis and includes an outer surface with a vent hole. The mouthpiece seals against a first inner surface of the lid body via an annular seal ring. The mouthpiece is movable between a closed position and an open position to allow fluid inside the container to flow through the mouthpiece. The sealing member is fitted on the lid body to sealingly engage the lid body to an open end of the container. The sealing member includes an annular flange sealingly engaging a second inner surface of the lid body. The flange includes a groove that defines a location on the lid where ambient air flowing into the vent hole can enter a container interior as fluid flows out of the container through the mouthpiece.

The flexible container body can be manually grasped and squeezed in order to deform the container body and force wet pet food stored therein to be forced through a series of exit ports formed in the dispenser head. The exit ports combine to essentially define a sieve, with the wet pet food automatically breaking into randomly sized pieces or extruded sections during dispensing, thereby advantageously avoiding the need to separately chop the pet food apart prior to consumption. The package is preferably sized to store enough pet food for multiple feedings, with the dispenser head including a cap or cover for sealing the container between uses.

  • Patent number: 8887968
Abstract: An apparatus for capping a jar includes a plastic flat plate having a top and a bottom and a depending skirt with internal threadings and a hole in the flat plate. A measured liquor pouring spout inserted through the hole in the plate has a channel for flow of liquid and a cap sized and shaped to cover a liquor bottle with a lower skirt that abuts the top of the flat plate. The spout has a lower stem with a first radial flange under the cap abutting the top of the flat plate and a second radial flange under the cap spaced below the first radial flange. A gasket on the lower stem below the flat plate closes portions of the hole that surround the lower stem and secures the stem in position by fitting between the second radial flange and the bottom of the flat plate.

Abstract: A volumetric displacement preservation system for preserving a volume of flowable substance in a vessel. A fluid exchange structure has a stopper, a head portion, and a fluid exchange valve with a first condition where fluid inlet and exhaust pathways in the fluid exchange structure are simultaneously closed and a second condition where the fluid inlet and exhaust pathways are simultaneously opened by conduit joining portions in the fluid exchange valve. A chamber retains a volume of preservative gas and is connected to the fluid inlet pathway externally to the vessel. The preservative gas can be supplied from the chamber into the vessel through the fluid inlet pathway as liquid is exhausted through the fluid exhaust pathway. The chamber can be replenished from preservative gas displaced from the vessel in a reverse volumetric displacement process or from preservative gas supplied by a preservative gas production canister.

  • Patent number: 8863997
Abstract: Featured is a delivery nozzle/vent assembly for a portable container including a first section, a second section movable coupled to the first section, a passageway alignment assembly and a valve assembly. The alignment assembly is configured and arranged to align liquid and air lines/passages of the first and second sections when the nozzle is moved to a given position. The valve assembly includes an actuation mechanism that selectively fluidly couples/decouples the aligned liquid and air lines/passages in the first and second sections. When these passages are so fluidly coupled, liquid can flow from the portable container and delivered to a targeted receptacle and air can flow into the container as a volume replacement for the departing liquid. Also featured are a portable container with such a nozzle/vent assembly and methods related thereto. The liquid can be a liquid organic compound such as gasoline, kerosene and diesel.

  • Patent number: 8783512
Abstract: A dosing spout for liquid containers, and a system for inventory control, verification and accounting for liquids dispensed in smaller doses or portions from larger containers. The device controls flow of a liquid from a container in predetermined dosage size by an air tube that permits flow of liquid through a liquid tube when the container is tilted. After a predetermined time, the air tube is closed, which terminates flow of the liquid through the liquid tube. The time interval during which the air tube is open is correlated with the viscosity of the liquid in the container so that a predetermined dosage is dispensed through the dosing spout. Controls and signaling devices operate the dosing spout, and wireless communications devices and processors record uses of the dosing spout.

  • Patent number: 8684205
Abstract: A device that assists with equalizing air pressure within a bottle with the atmospheric air pressure as liquid is being poured from the bottle and includes one or more relatively short air tubes. The air tubes are situated with an upper inlet rim of the air tubes located flush with or relatively near the bottle rim. Whether an insert or integrated into the manufacture of a container, the one or more air tubes that extend partially into the container allow air to pass into the container as the liquid exits the container. The pressure equalizer not only minimizes or prevents the common glugging effect, but it allows liquid from a bottle to be poured smoothly at any angle and orientation. A cap incorporating a detachable pressure equalizer is also described.
