  • Patent number: 5897037
Abstract: A combination cap and dispensing spout assembly for a carbonated beverage bottle. It is designed to stay on the beverage bottle until it is empty. It is pressed onto the original sealing cap of the carbonated beverage bottle and it is detachably snapped over the annular shoulder on the neck of the bottle. When it is desired to dispense some of the beverage, the bottle is turned upside down and the combination cap and dispensing spout assembly is rotated about 1/4-3/4 of a turn which allows the carbonated beverage to pour out of the tubular spout of the combination cap and dispensing spout assembly. The carbonated gas that has escaped from the liquid beverage cannot readily escape from the carbonated beverage bottle but instead rises into the space above the liquid beverage in the bottles upside down position.

  • Patent number: 5775550
Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved gravity dispenser for dispensing, inter alia, a concentrate to be mixed with a diluent. The present invention includes a feature for reducing spray caused by closing of a flow control valve. A projection or ridge on a surface of one of the parts of the flow control valve, which projection or ridge can include bevelling or chamfering, sweeps across the area above the dispensing orifice, thereby directing a fluid shock wave away from the dispensing orifice. As a result, the fluid shock wave does not reach the dispensing orifice, thereby reducing or eliminating potential spray through the dispensing orifice.

  • Patent number: 5284273
Abstract: A rotatable cap and modified container neck. Depending from a top panel of the cap is an annular exterior wall and a smaller concentrically positioned interior wall with a space between the two walls sized to receive an upper and thinned portion of the container neck with a tight fit providing a fluid seal. The interior wall of the cap contains a dispensing notch which is aligned straight across with a dispensing opening through the exterior wall. With rotation, the cap raises and lowers on threads relative to the container. When the cap is lowered, the container neck blocks the dispensing canal between the notch in the interior wall and the dispensing opening in the exterior wall of the cap. The top rim of the container neck abuts the interior cap ceiling between the two walls to form a seal. When the cap is raised, the container neck is in part below the notch in the interior wall and the dispensing opening, and thus the dispensing canal is open.

  • Patent number: 5275338
Abstract: A device is used for spraying and atomizing a liquid which is held in a container which can be emptied by air pressure. If in a device of this kind a liquid nozzle projects into a mixture nozzle disposed coaxially in front of it, so that an annular space provided for air around the liquid nozzle is open at the front towards the mixture nozzle, the feed paths for liquid and for air must not be transposed. Such transposition occurs if the container is held upside-down during spraying. In order to avoid this disadvantage two annular spaces are provided, from which passages lead to a mixture nozzle. The two annular spaces communicate with one another via throttle slots. Because of the two annular spaces the liquid can also be sprayed when the container is upsidedown.

  • Patent number: 5249715
Abstract: The dispensing device serves for discharging a free-flowing medium from a container. An insert arranged in the container neck and filling the clear cross-section of the latter has a design suitable for discharging the free-flowing medium. The insert resting on the container neck is held firm by a catch having a bead on the container neck and a groove on the insert. In the case of a container intended for refilling, this catch can be overcome and the insert can be pulled out from the container neck by a cam projecting radially on the inside of the screw cap and engaging behind the end flange. If reuse of the container is to be ruled out, the cam on the cap is absent. In the case of a modified embodiment, the bead extending into the groove and the groove itself are dimensioned to be of different sizes in the radial direction. If the bead is dimensioned to be larger, the catch cannot be overcome.

The closure functions as a push-pull closure providing an "on"/"off" position for dispensing without a need to remove or replace the closure on the container. Dispensing is accomplished without the need to lift or tip the container. The closure seals in a liquid-tight condition when placed in the "off" position. The side dispensing spout can be rotated horizontally to any desired position for ease of dispensing or for shipping in an out-of-the-way position.

  • Patent number: 4516697
Abstract: The present invention provides a hand dispenser for a liquid product that includes a resilient closed container mounted upon a base. The container, which has a discharge port connected to a dispensing orifice for the liquid product, is movable between a first position, which closes the discharge port and makes the dispenser adapted for traveling, shipment, and the like. The container also has a second position, which opens the discharge port and places the dispenser in the dispensing mode. The dispenser, when in the dispensing mode, is manually operated by squeezing the container, which dispenses a portion of the liquid product; upon return of the resilient container to its original shape, the level of the liquid drops, and a lesser pressure is created in the air pocket over the liquid product, thus causing atmospheric air to press back any movement of liquid product toward the dispensing orifice.

  • Patent number: 4322018
Abstract: A fluid dispenser for a bulk container of the type having a rigid outer box with a sealable flexible plastic inner bag. The dispenser includes a tubular sleeve having a flange that is heat-sealed to the outer surface of the plastic bag and a tubular turncock having a pointed inner end for piercing the bag of fluid. Extending from the tubular surface of the turncock barrel are keys that engage keyways in the bore of the tubular sleeve that both restrict longitudinal movement of the turncock to prevent removal or bag-piercing during storage and shipping and also, after the turncock is fully inserted to pierce the bag, restricts rotational movement of the turncock to prevent accidental removal and possible leakage. A second embodiment of the invention replaces the turncock with a conduit having the keys and the pointed tip, but with a tube fitting at the opposite end for dispensing the fluid at a remote valve or pump.
