  • Patent number: 5039016
Abstract: An improved aspiration-type chemical sprayer for dispensing small quantities of a liquid-based chemical into a stream of carrier fluid is disclosed. The sprayer includes a sprayer head assembly sealingly mounted onto a container for storing the chemical to be dispensed. The sprayer head assembly includes a multi-function unitary valve for providing a range of aspiration rates simultaneously with full communication of the container interior to atmospheric pressure. The valve may include means for positive and simultaneous closure of the aspiration and vent passages so as to seal the chemical in the container when the sprayer is not in use.

  • Patent number: 4842169
Abstract: A dispensing cap construction including a base cap attachable to a container, the base cap having a spout formation provided with a side wall and with a flow passage in the side wall, and a cover cap which is both turnably mounted on the base cap and axially movable theron between a lowered sealing position and a raised dispensing position. The cover cap has a discharge orifice, and a valving wall and dischage passage in the valving wall, both of which move circumferentially around the side wall of the spout formation. The valving wall moves into and out of a sealing position wherein it covers or uncovers the flow passage in the side wall of the base cap when the cover cap is turned. The valving wall has positions intermediate its full cover and full uncover positions wherein it only partially closes the flow passage. The discharge orifice of the cover cap is sealed at a point downstream of the flow passage of the base cap when the cover cap is in its lowered position thereon.

  • Patent number: 4674534
Abstract: A valve for controlling the flow of particulate solid material, especially a hot, friable, granular material. The valve comprises a fixed vertical feed tube and a concavo-convex valve member mounted for rotation about an axis forming an obtuse angle with the axis of the feed tube. The rotatable valve member is positioned so that its dished inner surface confronts the lower end of the feed tube and is essentially perpendicular thereto to block flow of material through the valve when it is in its closed position. The rotatable member has one or more openings therein that can be positioned in registry with the bottom of the feed tube to open the valve and permit the solid material to flow therethrough.

  • Patent number: 4643825
Abstract: A system is provided for filling, for purifying liquids in a shipping container and for maintaining the high purity during withdrawal from the bulk shipping container of liquids, such as high purity liquids. In the system a specially designed bung adapted to fit shipping containers, such as pails and drums which may be made of a suitable plastic, metal, e.g. stainless steel, or other material of construction. The special bung has at least two openings, including an opening into which is fitted a dip tube that reaches contiguous to the bottom of the container. The special bung also has an opening into which a gas filter can be secured. In the system, the contents of the container can be pumped through the dip tube while maintaining the integrity of the product against contamination. The purity of the liquid can be upgraded by pumping, i.e., recirculating the liquid through a filtration media and returned to the container.

  • Patent number: 4582218
Abstract: The present invention relates to a container for liquid which is able to retain the liquid therein for drinking purposes at a temperature close to its original temperature for a period of time, will assure that the liquid will not spill out if the container is tipped, and facilitates easy drinking of the liquid from the container. The container further includes an interiorly recessed shelf possessing at least one gap within the shelf wall and which accommodates a sealing member or top which contains a protruding tongue which can be inserted through the gap and rotated below the shelf to fasten the sealing member in place. Then the top can function as a sealing member to retain the liquid in place and assure that the liquid will not spill if the container is accidentally tipped. The top will further serve to entirely seal the container to thereby retain the liquid therein at close to its original temperature for a period of time.

  • Patent number: 4394944
Abstract: A valved closure for a container holding plastic or pasty material and having an opening generally in the form of a neck for dispensing the material from the container. The valved closure is permanently or, in the alternative, removably mounted over the neck of the container. The valved closure consists of a hollow housing with a dispensing aperture for placing the interior of the container in communication with the ambient and a rotatable valve body disposed proximate the aperture such as to obturate the aperture in a first position. The valve body has a passageway placing the interior of the housing in communication with the housing aperture by rotation to a second position. The valve body is directly actuatable by means of a lever. The housing dispensing aperture has at least one chamfered side forming a sharp cutting edge for a ribbon of pasty material being dispensed from the container and the periphery of the valve body projects slightly beyond the edges of the dispensing aperture.

  • Patent number: 4312607
Abstract: A pellet gate, or valve, assembly to control pneumatic discharge of pellets from a hopper car. The inclined side walls of the hopper terminate in spaced edges forming a valve gap, with a semi-cylindrical trough extending below the valve gap. Centered in the valve gap is a valve rod having an axis which is spaced above the axis of the trough. The rod has oppositely facing longitudinal grooves defining a figure eight cross section and mounted for rotation from a valve-closed position to a valve-open position in which the grooves of the rod face the opposed edges of the hopper side walls for passage of the pellets. A cylindrical control collar is coaxially mounted at the end of the trough for rocking movement. A geared connection is interposed between the control collar and the end of the valve rod so that rocking movement of the control collar is effective to rotate the rod between its open and closed conditions.

  • Patent number: 4020982
Abstract: A multiple purpose nozzle includes a tubular member having a bore and communicating passage network therethrough and through which material to be dispensed is adapted to pass. An adjustable cap is coupled with the tubular member having an orifice in the end wall thereof of predetermined configuration. The cap is coupled to the tubular member so that it may be shifted between shut-off and open positions. In addition the cap is provided with a passage which form part of the passage network when the cap is shifted to the open position. In the closed position the cap passage is not aligned with the passage network of the tubular member and thus prevents the material from being dispensed. The cap is adapted to assume at least one other and open position at which the cap passage is aligned with the passage network and the material to be dispensed is adapted to pass in a selected predetermined discharge pattern through the bore passage network and orifice.

  • Patent number: 3967765
Abstract: A nozzle located at the discharge end of a container includes a tubular member and a cap thereon. The tubular member has a passage in communication with the container interior for passage therethrough of the container contents to be dispensed. The cap is adjustably mounted on the tubular member and is capable of being turned to a first position at which the passage of the tubular member is closed to prevent the passage of the material to be dispensed. The cap is adapted to be turned to a plurality of discharge positions depending upon the discharge pattern desired. In these positions the passage is open and is placed in communication with a discharge opening and surrounding recesses in the closed end of the cap through a passageway defined by cooperating surfaces of a slotted core portion and surrounding slotted core skirt of the tubular member and a slotted boss cooperating with the core and skirt of the tubular member when the cap is assembled to the tubular member.
