Publication number: 20030234266Abstract: A rifle sling for transporting a rifle and steadying the rifle during firing is herein disclosed. The sling comprises a strap that is attached at one end near the muzzle of the rifle and at a second end near the butt of the rifle. An intermediate portion of the strap passes freely through a sling clip that is coupled to the truncal region of the bearer of the rifle. When the rifle is placed in its firing position, muzzle flip caused by recoil in the rifle will be resisted by the strap of the sling. The sling clip may clamp the strap of the sling to more securely couple the muzzle end of the rifle to the truncal region of the bearer. In addition, the sling is constructed and arranged to permit the movement of the rifle between its slung and firing positions without uncoupling the strap of the sling from the sling clip.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 24, 2002Publication date: December 25, 2003Inventor: Stephen T. This allows penetrable color-coded discs (52) to be placed thereon, and held securely by hollow center nuts (20). The bottom “muzzle mating” tapered ends (24) have cap sealing ribs (28) which hold the powder sealing caps firmly in place. A center tube (56) passes through the magazine (10) expanding in size and extending from the bottom. Creating a barrel holding center handle (38), which houses the compression spring (76) system, which receives the quick detachable T handle (34) and starting rod (42). The device is carried by a sling (64) containing two plunger (68) type dispensers.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 2002Date of Patent: October 28, 2003Inventor: Richard Shawn Wykle

Patent number: 6598330Abstract: The present invention relates to hardware used to secure slings to firearms. In particular, to hardware used to secure slings to firearms like that of the M16A2 and M4 Carbine that are fitted with a Picatinny type rail and collapsible buttstock. A wedge/yoke assembly is used to secure an end of a sling to the firearm on a rail and a rotational ring assembly is used to secure an end of a sling to the extension tube of the lower receiver. Both assemblies are designed to be installed quickly without the use of tools and without modification to the firearm. This hardware provides for ambidextrous attachment of a tactical sling to the firearm giving the user a “hands free” capability and allowing for engagement of targets when firing from a “weak hand” posture.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 2001Date of Patent: July 29, 2003Inventors: Robert Hudson Garrett, Sandy Alexander Garrett, Jr.

Patent number: 5715979Abstract: Prior art slings used to support rifles during aiming and firing respond to the blood pressure pulse in the shooter's upper am resulting in rhythmic stress in the straps which extend to connect with the rifle. This is caused by the position and singular nature of the prior an attachment between that portion of the sling surrounding the shooter's upper arm and that portion of the sling which extends to the rifle. This interaction between the prior an slings and the shooter's pulse results in movement of the rifle and a reduction in practical accuracy. Slings of the present invention incorporate two attachments to that portion of the sling system which surrounds the shooter's arm and two non parallel straps extending to the rifle. By virtue of the location of these two attachments, the shooter's pulse can no longer create rhythmic stress in the straps extending to the rifle. Motion of the rifle during aiming and firing is reduced and practical accuracy is increased.Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 1997Date of Patent: February 10, 1998Inventor: David L. Crandall

The connecting arrangement includes a strap for securing the compass housing to an archer's bow. The strap includes an elongated, uniformly thin strip of material having oppositely facing surfaces. The strap has a centrally disposed, circular-shaped first hole therethrough, the diameter of the circular-shaped hole being less than the diameter of the aforesaid flange. The compass housing is received in the circular-shaped first hole, the flange abutting the second surface on the strap.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 1993Date of Patent: January 4, 1994Assignee: Michigan Outdoor Products, Inc.Inventor: Stanley L. Patent number: 5143266Abstract: The harness comprises a carrying strap and a gripper. The carrying strap is formed from a soft material. Another strap formed from a stronger, less resilient fabric is attached to the soft strap at uniformly spaced intervals and in such a way that the second strap forms loops at its points of attachment to the soft strap. With the arrangement, the soft strap can only stretch until the loops become taut. Thereafter, the stronger second strap carries the load and this prevents the soft strap from tearing when heavy loads are carried. The gripper is formed from a resilient material and comprises a first plate and a second plate which are connected together by an arcuate web. One of the plates of the gripper has a flat body contacting surface and a loop is positioned in the arcuate web between the first and second plates for connection to a device to be carried. A plurality of pins are formed on at least one plate of the gripper.Type: GrantFiled: March 5, 1990Date of Patent: September 1, 1992Assignee: Butler Creek CorporationInventors: Willaim L. Patent number: 5082155Abstract: A sling for a shoulder fired weapon is described having semi-permanent pre-adjustments to quickly accommodate both carrying and shooting modes. The sling includes: (i) a forward section attached to a forward swivel or ring of the weapon, (ii) a rear section nearest to the butt of the weapon and (iii) an anchor attached about a part of the user's body, usually his arm. The forward section is attached to the forward swivel using a hook-and-pile fastener wherein the length of the forward section is rapidly adjustable, and also includes either a male or a female quick coupler attached at a second end. The rear section is attached to the rear swivel of the weapon via a conventional buckle fastener that provides adjustments in the length of the rear section, and also includes a complementary female or male quick coupler having a recess mated to disconnectably connect to the male or female quick coupler of the forward section.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 1990Date of Patent: January 21, 1992Inventor: Jerry A. Patent number: 5067267Abstract: A swivel for attaching a sling to a firearm including a plunger depressible for quick detachment of the swivel from the firearm and a selectively operable retainer movably mounted on the plunger for locking the swivel to the firearm when moved to an operative first position. In the operative first position, the retainer is rotatable on a smaller diameter portion of the plunger without being compelled into axial movement therealong, but can be manipulated into a mated position with a threaded larger-diameter portion of the plunger and then into an opposed position where an enlarged head on the plunger opposes a resiliently expansible tapered sleeve on the retainer. With progressively increasing torque, the retainer is then advanceable to an inoperative second position that permits sufficient depression of the plunger to allow release the swivel from the firearm.Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 1990Date of Patent: November 26, 1991Assignee: Michaels of Oregon Co.Inventor: Robert K.
