Abstract: A device having a first container and a second container that is convertible between a primary configuration and a secondary configuration. Each container having a primary face (with primary access structure for accessing the interior of the container when the device is in the primary configuration) and a secondary face (with secondary access structure for accessing the interior of the container when the device is in the secondary configuration). A first mateable half and a second mateable half of an openable-closeable connection are connectable to secure the containers in either a primary configuration or a secondary configuration. Preferably, contents within the containers may remain during conversion between the primary configuration and the secondary configuration. A method for converting a device between the primary configuration and the secondary configuration.

Abstract: A storage box assembly for a vehicle includes a box having an upper portion having a first bottom wall and first side walls, the first bottom wall having an inner periphery and an outer periphery. The box further has a lower portion having a second bottom wall and second side walls. A first interior volume of the upper portion communicates with a second interior volume of the lower portion. The storage box assembly further includes at least one anchor mounted to the box for selectively securing the storage box assembly to the vehicle. The at least one anchor is disposed within the outer periphery of the first bottom wall, and has a bottom surface being vertically spaced from a lower surface of the second bottom wall and being disposed between the upper end of the first side walls and the second bottom wall.

Abstract: A luggage system for motorcycles whose cases, when removed from the motorcycle, can quickly be configured into a backpack. The disclosed invention comprises two brackets for attachment to the motorcycle, two large cases for carrying heavy equipment that have mirror image backpack straps built into them, and up to four accessory packs for carrying smaller items. The large cases have mating separating zipper components which, when zipped together, create a backpack.

Abstract: A luggage assembly includes a first bag and a second bag, each bag having a rear side with a number of fasteners that engage the rear sides of the other bag to attach them together. The rear sides also have an open slot near the top end to receive a dual bag strap extending between the bags, such that the bags may be used as saddlebags. The bags may further include bag handles near the top end of the bags, and an assembly handle extending between the bag handles such that the luggage assembly may be conveniently carried as a single unit. The luggage assembly also includes an individual bag strap that may attach to the fasteners on the rear sides such that the bags may be used and carried individually.

Abstract: A saddlebag container has a tub made of a plurality of composite fiber panels three dimensionally thermally molded or thermoformed in a chill forming process to form at least a plurality of structurally supporting tub walls and can have a lid of such construction. A preferred tub is formed of a plurality of panels with one panel three dimensionally shaped to form one sidewall and at least one of an endwall and bottom wall and another panel three dimensionally shaped to form the other sidewall that serves as a base to which the one panel is attached which can also provide a vehicle attachment mount. A preferred lid is formed of a panel that can have an outwardly extending mounting flap used to attach the lid to the base which can also serve as a hinge of the lid. A preferred tub and lid construction has at least two layers with one layer of a fibrous material and another layer of a different material that can provide a cover.

Abstract: A device for removably mounting an accessory to a vehicle can include a mount configured to engage at least a portion of the vehicle. A base can be fixedly attached to at least a portion of the mount. A top can be rotatably attached to at least a portion of the base. At least a portion of the top can be attachable to at least a portion of the accessory. A gasket can be positioned between the base and the top. At least one fastener can extend through at least a portion the top, through the base and into at least a portion of the mount. The fastener can be configured to restrict movement of the top, the base and the mount along at least one axis.

Abstract: A transportation device for easy fixing to a vehicle frame element that includes at least two parallel struts. The transportation device includes a luggage accommodating region, at least one side part, and at least one first supporting element which is fixed to the side part. The transportation device also includes at least one second supporting element which is fixed to the side part, wherein, in a closed position of the second supporting element, at least one locking unit has a closed position configured to lock a latching member in a closed position of the second supporting element.

Abstract: An improved carrier system mounting method is provided for easy attachment and detachment of the carrier from a wheeled conveyance such as a bicycle or motorcycle. The method includes providing a rigid container with handle and wheels, engaging connector members on the carrier to points on opposing sides of the conveyance wheel, rotating the container along the circumference of the conveyance wheel, and securing the container to the conveyance frame at a quick release upper connector.

Abstract: A harness for mounting a non-pannier bag to a pannier mount. The harness has an upper frame member having at least one fastener for releasably attaching the upper frame body member to the mount, a lower frame body member disposed distally from the upper frame body member and configured to releasably engage with a lower frame portion of the mount. A connecting member attached between the upper frame body member and the lower frame body member. Two upper straps, each having a fixed end extending outwardly from one of the upper frame body and the connecting member, at least one of the upper straps being adjustable in length. Each of the two upper straps having a connector at a free end configured to releasably connect with one another to form a first loop. At least one lower strap attached at one end to the lower member, each at least one lower strap being adjustable in length and configured to be connectable to one of the upper frame body member and first loop so as to form a second loop.

Abstract: An apparatus for transporting cargo on a motorcycle comprises a first rack having a width of about the width of a seat of a motorcycle. The first rack has a first plurality of attachment structures fixedly attached thereto. A second rack has a base with a second plurality of attachment structures fixedly attached to a bottom of the base configured for engaging with and being secured to the first plurality of attachment structures. The second rack is positioned on top of the first rack when secured thereto and includes a pair of upwardly extending elongate members fixedly coupled to the base and angled toward the rear of the motorcycle. The elongate members are each provided with a transversely extending receiving member and a centrally located receiving bracket attached proximate a rearward side of the base, thus forming a three-point attachment structure for attaching an accessory to a motorcycle.

Abstract: An improved carrier system is provided for easy attachment and detachment of the carrier from a wheeled conveyance such as a bicycle or motorcycle. When not attached to the conveyance, the carrier can also be used in a fashion similar to roller luggage.

Abstract: A connection device for connecting a bag to a bicycle carriage rack includes a transverse bar connected to a back board of the bag and two hook units are connected to the transverse bar. Each hook unit includes a flexible plate and a stud extends from the flexible plate. The stud can be engaged with one of positioning holes defined in the transverse bar by pulling the flexible plate to position the hook unit to the transverse bar. The hook units hook to a side of the bicycle carriage rack. A lower part is connected to a lower portion of the back board and has a second groove with which a sliding member is slidably engaged. Each sliding member has an I-shaped member which has one end pivotably engaged therewith and the other end of the I-shaped member is engaged with a support leg of the carriage rack.

Abstract: A motorcycle including a frame, an engine mounted to the frame, two wheels mounted for rotation to the frame with at least one of the wheels operably coupled to the engine, a rack coupled to the frame, and a storage case. The storage case including a body and a latch. The body defining a cavity and an opening that provides access to the cavity, and the body including a base that has a recess shaped to receive a portion of the rack. The latch is movably coupled to the base and is movable between an open position that provides access to the recess, and a closed position that inhibits access to the recess. The storage case is movable between an attached position where the portion of the rack is positioned within the recess and the latch is in the closed position, and a detached position where the latch is in the open position and the portion of the rack is positioned outside of the recess.

Abstract: A wedge-shaped storage bag designed and dimensioned for receipt in a triangular-shaped space between a bicycle frame's front fork tube and an angled down tube and on top of a car top carrier, when the car top carrier is carrying one or more bicycles thereon. The storage bag includes a horizontal bottom, a front portion having a height greater than a rear portion and a top portion. The top portion is angled upwardly from a top of the rear portion to a top of the front portion. The top portion and front portion have a wedge-shaped or an inverted “V” shaped configuration. Also, the storage bag includes a first side and a second side with access openings therein for entrance inside the bag and storing items therein.

Abstract: A motorcycle including a frame, an engine mounted to the frame, two wheels mounted for rotation to the frame with at least one of the wheels operably coupled to the engine, a rack coupled to the frame, and a storage case. The storage case including a body and a latch. The body defining a cavity and an opening that provides access to the cavity, and the body including a base that has a recess shaped to receive a portion of the rack. The latch is movably coupled to the base and is movable between an open position that provides access to the recess, and a closed position that inhibits access to the recess. The storage case is movable between an attached position where the portion of the rack is positioned within the recess and the latch is in the closed position, and a detached position where the latch is in the open position and the portion of the rack is positioned outside of the recess.

Abstract: The presently disclosed article carrier for bicycles is adapted for the mid-frame area of a variety of bicycle frame types having improved practical characteristics for conveying a variety of articles while having minimal adverse effects on, a bicycle's handling. The carrier may be quickly installed and, removed without the use of tools or brackets by buckling a pair of fastening assemblies between the handlebar stem and seat-post, components common to a majority of bicycle frame types currently in the marketplace. The carrier offers improved accessibility to its cargo both while riding and while stationary due to its positioning on the bicycle and to particular zipper styles. The carrier is also proportioned and adapted to real-world applications with minimal nuisance and optimal utility due to its means of attachment, its volumetric expandability, its various utilitarian pockets and compartments and its adjustability.

Abstract: A customizing pack carrier having one or a combination of independently unique and novel components comprising a main frame assembled of elongated or planar members having fixed or height-adjustable pack retainers, a single-handed operating method for adjusting retainer height, a support base that manually or self-adjusts to the depth of the pack, a quasi-permanent height-adjustable handle, an outer layer on an extendible main frame that can function as an amusing accessory and as part of a strap-lifting apparatus, a concealable seat and inclinable main frame combination, an ergonomically designed removable or non-removable back support, and a detachable shoulder harness, is provided. The main frame is adapted for use on ground casters, on upright and recumbent bikes, and on scooters. A one-piece clasping article for temporarily connecting any two tubes side by side as in connecting a tubular main frame to a tubular bike frame is also provided.

The apparatus includes an engaging member detachably mounted to the second object, e.g., a bicycle handlebar. The apparatus further includes a fixing member to which the first object, e.g., a headlamp of a bicycle or cellular phone bag is attached. The headlamp or cellular phone bag can be mounted to the engaging member in a desired orientation. The engaging member remains on the handlebar when reattaching the headlamp or cellular phone bag to the engaging member.

Abstract: A wheel bag for enclosing a bicycle wheel and attaching to a bicycle for transport along with a method for using the bag are described. In one embodiment, the bag is configured to be secured to a bicycle at three points while the bicycle is in a rooftop carrier for transport on an automobile.

Abstract: A motorcycle bag is provided having an adjustable enclosure for securing the motorcycle bag to a sissy bar of a motorcycle. Using layers of various sized panels, including a panel that can be expanded using closure means such as a pair of zippers, discreet sized closed loops are formed to fit over different sized motorcycle sissy bars. By expanding the adjustable panel, more sizes are available to the user providing a plurality of options for fitting the motorcycle bag onto different motorcycles. The motorcycle bag preferably includes a protective covering tethered to the bag within a storage compartment that may be withdrawn to cover and insulate the motorcycle bag from moisture, rain, and wind during travel in inclement weather. The motorcycle bag further preferably includes an organizer for storing various travel items and hide-away arm straps for carrying the motorcycle bag like a backpack when the motorcycle bag is not affixed to a motorcycle.

The removable pocket securely engages the sissy bar. The first storage bag is collapsible when not in use. A second storage bag may be removably attached to the first storage bag.

The mounting plate is low cost and is provided with means for securing the plate to a flat surface or for attaching transition links to the mounting plate for securing the mounting plate to the irregular structures such as the frame of a motorcycle or the like. The bag is provided with detachable wheels and pulling or carrying straps and an attachment for joining two similar saddle bags together.

An optional insert securable within the container serves to retain the heat or cold of the fluid over a period of time. An optional zipper cover can also be added. An optional elastomeric star top can overlay the opening of the body and be used alone or in conjunction with a zipper cover.

Abstract: A quick-release locking device for locking an article basket on a bicycle handle bar, including a fastener body and a main body. The fastener body is a double-layer plate body formed with insertion slots and a fixing slot for engaging with the main body. One end of the main body is disposed with latch arms for engaging with the fastener body and a resilient engaging section for engaging with a slope engaging block of a push button. Lower edges of two sides of the other end of the main body are respectively disposed with clamping passages in which the bicycle handle bar is clamped and fixed. The locking device serves to lock the article basket on the bicycle with a quick-release function, whereby the basket or bag can be directly taken out from the bicycle for shopping or preventing the article placed in the article basket from being stolen.

Abstract: The knapsack has a bottom wall resting against a user's back when supported by shoulder straps. The bottom wall is larger than a bicycle luggage carrier or rack. The knapsack has a frame structure for reinforcing the bottom wall and the side wall of the knapsack so that when the knapsack is placed with the bottom wall horizontally on top of the carrier, loose articles in the knapsack do not cause the bottom wall of the knapsack to sag over the sides of the carrier. The shoulder straps are attached to the bottom wall or sandwiched between the bottom wall and the carrier to prevent the shoulder straps from dangling down and possibly interfering with movement of the bicycle wheels. The knapsack has fastening straps for securing the knapsack to the luggage carrier. In one embodiment, the frame structure is a removable insert for a conventional knapsack.

Abstract: Convertible bags may be fastened to supports on a bicycle in a first configuration and are fastened together to form a knapsack in a second configuration. The convertible bags comprise at least first and second bags, each having a rear wall with a reinforcement adapted to face the bicycle. Fittings are attached to the rear walls of the at least first and second bags. The fittings include a connector elements which releasably connect the bags to the bicycle in the first configuration. The fittings attached to the first bag are arranged in complementary positions to the fittings attached to the second bag, and at least one fitting on one of the first and second bags further includes a receiving element in which the connector element on the complementarily positioned fitting on the other of the first and second bags is engaged when the first and second bags are in the second configuration.

Abstract: A pack convertible to a pannier for bicycling and a backpack for hiking. The pack comprises a multiple compartment travel bag. The compartments are attached to a hinged back member. The pack includes a pair of shoulder straps and a waist belt for carrying the pack as a backpack and fastening straps for converting the pack to a backpack. In pannier mode, the hinged back member allows the compartments to attach to each side of a pannier rack and the fastening straps are connected to the shoulder straps to secure the straps out of the way. To convert to a backpack, the fastening straps are cinched together to straighten the back member. When converted to a backpack, the back member forms an internal frame to assist in supporting the load carried by the hiker.backslash.cyclist.

Abstract: A fastening device for alternatively fastening bags (4, 5, 7, 8) on a bicycle consists of a hanging device arranged on an upper fitting, which engages a fastening device located on the bicycle frame or a reception device, forming a knapsack (84) together with other bags (4, 5, 6, 7, 8). Whereas the fittings of the front wheel bags (7, 8) are equipped with hanging elements, the fittings of the rear wheel bags (7, 8) are provided with reception devices. The rear wheel bags (7, 8) may be linked to the bicycle frame by means of a carrier fastened only to the saddle support. Thus the bags (4, 5, 7, 8) may be in no time and in a modular manner, by insertion, mounted on or dismounted from the bicycle or assembled together into a knapsack and disassembled.

Abstract: A tank panel apparatus including a base member is adapted to be attached to a motorcycle fuel tank. A slot is disposed on a top surface of the base member for receiving a projection of a container and a release mechanism is also provided on the container to hold the projection in the slot and consequently hold the container to the base member. The container also includes a belt clip or belt loop so that the motorcycle operator can attach the container to his or her belt once it is removed from the motorcycle tank panel and which container can readily and quickly be re-attached to the motorcycle tank panel.

Abstract: An articulated backpack apparatus for transporting material while attached to a user in which an upper storage element of the apparatus is capable of pivotal movement in relationship to a lower storage element of the apparatus while attached to the user. The backpack apparatus is capable of being collapsed into a satchel orientation so that the backpack apparatus may be carried by hand. From the satchel orientation the upper storage element and lower storage element may be moved apart by a pair of extensible supports so that the backpack apparatus may be secured over the wheel of bicycle in a pannier orientation. Additionally, the backpack apparatus is provided with a pull handle, an extensible shaft, and wheels, so that the backpack apparatus may be rolled along the ground in a pull cart orientation.

Abstract: A lockable container is disclosed in combination with a U-shaped bicycle lock. The lock has a rigid U-shaped portion in which the open end is spanned by a rigid locking bar. The container comprises a body and a cap, both with channels thereon, which receive the parallel arms of the U-shaped portion and the locking bar therein. When the lock is locked, the cap cannot be removed from the container, so articles left therein are safe. A space between the bight of the U-shaped portion and the bottom of the container can be used to securely attach the combination to a suitably shaped permanent fixture.

Abstract: An infant carrier is mounted on a platform located directly over the rear wheel of a bicycle, such that the infant can become a passenger along with the bicyclist. The carrier has an arcuate cradle-like configuration that causes the infant to be in a semi-prone inactive position in the carrier. A helmet is releasably retained on the carrier body to provide head protection for the infant. A retention strap encircles the helmet to stabilize the helmet position, and to reduce the loading of the helmet on the infant's head and neck muscles. The carrier is selectively positionable on the platform to face either toward the front or the rear. The carrier is detachably mounted so that it can be used for carrying the infant when the carrier is in a detached condition.
