  • Patent number: 6502728
Abstract: An accessory type carrier rack extension adapted for easy attachment to existing tubular racks generally provided on all terrain vehicles. The rack is provided in a variety of models to mate with and compliment existing tubular carrier racks and may be provided with flattened expanded metal panels that may be slotted at assembly to fit around any protrusions on the existing carrier rack that may exist but are unaccounted for by the manufacturer. The accessory carrier rack includes a tubular base frame fabricated from bent tubular members and various truss members. Some of the truss members are positioned parallel to the bent tubular members and/or parallel to adjacent truss members in a manner that defines elongated slots for adjustable positioning of the accessory carrier rack relative to an existing carrier racks generally found on ATVs.

  • Patent number: 6427891
Abstract: A hand truck carrier for securing a hand truck to a vehicle includes a carrier body and first and second members coupled to the body. The carrier body is attachable to the vehicle. The first and second members are selectively positionable in at least an open position and a closed position. In the open position, the members are spaced apart from each other to define therebetween a base plate receiving space in which a base plate of a hand truck can be received. In the closed position, the members are positioned closer to each other than in the open position, and to contact and apply a clamping force to top and bottom surfaces of the base plate, respectively, thereby securing the hand truck to the hand truck carrier.

  • Patent number: 6386413
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for mounting a computer system in a vehicle provides for rigid mounting of a computer/display unit in the vehicle so as to reduce or eliminate the adverse effects of vibration caused by operation of the vehicle. The latter advantage is achieved by provision of a gas spring and crank arm arrangement connected to an L-bar, the latter being mounted via its lower, horizontal member to a base plate of the vehicle. The apparatus and method also provide superior flexibility in orientation of the keyboard for use by any occupant of the front of the vehicle. The latter advantage is achieved by mounting the keyboard to the L-bar via a rigid arm having two points of rotation, one point of rotation at its point of connection to the L-bar, and another point of rotation at its point of connection to the keyboard.

  • Patent number: 6250400
Abstract: A carrier for a jackhammer which may be mounted to the tongue of an air compressor is disclosed. The carrier includes a support column, an adjustable bracket slideably mounted to the support column, and a pocket secured to the lower end of the support column for receiving the jackhammer. Mounted to the support column is an L-shaped bracket which may be secured to the tongue of an air compressor. The adjustable bracket includes a U-shaped member with two arms and a rear wall. The jackhammer is placed between the arms and an elongated rod is used to retain the jackhammer in place. The pocket has two converging walls which do not contact each other. An opening is formed between the bottoms of the two walls and a bar is placed within the opening. The bar is short enough in length so that the opening is not completely closed, thereby preventing rainwater or other precipitation from collecting within the pocket. Once the jackhammer has been placed within the carrier, the blade of the jackhammer rests on the bar.

  • Publication number: 20010000617
Abstract: Invention provides a self latching, object-holding fixture designed to release a held object whenever the object is turned slightly in either direction. Fixture has a shaped housing and the object to be held has a mated opening of a similar matching shape. Placing an object to be held locks the object to the fixture by spring-loaded latching action. The fixture housing covers a fixed spring holding base that is anchored by any suitable means to a support surface. Covering that fixed-position base, except for exposed spring-loaded keeper latches, is a rotatable casing having a pair of spring compression cam surfaces carried by the casing. Using a cam follower action, these cam surfaces selectively cause the spring to collapse in response to the rotation of the casing holding in either direction of casing rotation. As the object/casing is turned slightly, this cam follower/spring collapse action releasably disengages the keepers from the object being held.
