Patent number: 8991224Abstract: A security apparatus for a ratchet type gunlock that has a ratchet for locking the gunlock. The security apparatus prevents the gunlock from being shimmed using shimming techniques well known in the art. A star-shaped cogwheel having asymmetrical teeth prevents the shim from reaching the locked ratchet. The security apparatus also provides an extended ratchet latching assembly that features a pivot and a unique shoe-shaped latch that attaches to a plunger via a ball head such that the connections provided between the three elements of the latching assembly enable the latching assembly to remain locked despite severe impact, wrenching or shaking, yet can be easily opened even once the forces being applied to the gunlock ceases even when the deformation to the gunlock is irreversible.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 2014Date of Patent: March 31, 2015Inventor: Tibor Kalman Zalavari

Patent number: 7693656Abstract: In a navigation apparatus in a vehicle, a user designates a validating route, which is stored in a memory device. A control unit invalidates a predetermined function of the navigation apparatus at a start-up, which is for the first time after an in-vehicle battery is connected or which results from turning on of a power source. Use of the navigation apparatus by the user is thereby disturbed. When the control unit determines that a route, which the vehicle has traveled through, is included in the previously designated validating route stored in the memory device, the control unit re-validates the invalidated predetermined function.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 2007Date of Patent: April 6, 2010Assignee: DENSO CORPORATIONInventor: Hirokazu Sakano

Patent number: 7234617Abstract: Method and apparatus for providing dual anti-theft locks protecting an elongate object stored on a load bar of a load carrier. A bracket is attached to a retainer using connecting fasteners secured by connecting knobs to firmly attach the apparatus to the load bar when the load bar lies between the bracket and the retainer. A lever extending from the retainer controls a first locking mechanism having a gripper cable for wrapping the elongate object tightly against the retainer. The lever also controls a second locking mechanism coupling the lever to at least one latch that prevents rotation of one or more connecting knobs to prevent removal of the apparatus from the load bar. A lock limits movement of the lever to prevent or allow release of the elongate object from the retainer and the apparatus from the load bar.Type: GrantFiled: January 12, 2006Date of Patent: June 26, 2007Assignee: Thule Sweden ABInventors: Gregor Weaver, Mark Viklund, Vincent Bove, Kevin W. Patent number: 6290113Abstract: A hinged device that is attached to an existing roof rack, which keeps ladders locked in place without any movement in any direction. It can be attached to the existing roof rack by either pop rivets, screws or welding. Once the lockdown device is attached to the existing rack, it is hinged over the ladder rungs as well as over the bottom cross bar of the roof rack supporting the ladder, and then locked in place with a long shackled padlock. Any existing roof rack will work if the sides of the rack are as high as the top of the ladder it supports so that the hinge will fold over the ladder. The rack lockdown is made to only secure one ladder and not multiple stacks of ladders. This devise allows two ladders to be secured, one to either side of an existing roof rack. What makes this device unique, with only one moving part, is the ease in securing a ladder to a vehicle rack.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 2000Date of Patent: September 18, 2001Inventor: John Austin Plyler
