  • Patent number: 6659316
Abstract: This invention is a quiver for carrying sporting equipment or tools over the shoulder; it can be converted into a free-standing structure; and it can be disassembled when not in use for ease of storing and traveling. The quiver consists of a plurality of rigid tubes, with a means for holding the assembled tubes into a stable structure suspended from a shoulder strap. The quiver also allows peripheral equipment to be attached by such means as clips, hook-and-loop-type fasteners, hanging containers, and so forth. The shoulder strap is adjustable, for comfortable, hands-free carrying and for hanging the quiver from a chair, a hook, or other furnishing. Adding wheels allows the quiver to be rolled or carried. The quiver can also be converted into a stand which holds equipment off the ground. Further, after use, the quiver can easily be disassembled into individual protective casings for transport or shipping; when disassembled, the quiver components require less packing space.

  • Patent number: 5544795
Abstract: A shock absorbing shoulder strap for use in carrying bags and other items over one's shoulder which is particularly suitable for use on golf bags to absorb the shock of the rising and falling of the bag and its contents on the carrier's shoulder to prevent fatigue. The shoulder strap includes an inelastic body portion adapted to rest on the carrier's shoulder, a first adjustable elastic strap secured to one end of the body portion, a second adjustable elastic strap secured to the other end of the body portion, and releasable snap buckles carried by the elastic straps for securing the shoulder strap to the bag. As the bag and its contents rise and fall on the carrier's shoulder, the elastic straps contract and expand, absorbing a significant portion of the resulting shock which would otherwise be transmitted directly to the carrier's shoulder. By adjusting the effective length of the elastic straps through buckles carried thereby, the elasticity and length of the shoulder strap can independently varied.

In the former mode, carrying straps and a second compartment are connected to the outside of a first compartment, and protective outerwear is connected to and stored on the inside of the first compartment. In the latter mode, the first compartment is inverted so that the second compartment and carrying straps are stored inside the first compartment, and the protective outerwear is external of the first compartment, so that the first compartment is located on the back of the protective outerwear to form a backpack. A support strap is fastened to the inside of the protective outerwear to provide support for a load carried in the first compartment and to enable the individual to carry heavier loads than possible without the support strap.
