Continuously Rotating Roll Patents (Class 226/155)
  • Patent number: 7374073
Abstract: A feed apparatus for intermittently feeding band-shaped material to a press has two feed rollers for advancing the material. An upper feed roller is bearing-mounted in a rocker for swivel-movement with a pivot bearing on a unidirectionally hydraulic cylinder into a high-lifted position enabling introduction of the material between the rollers. For lowering of the upper roller, the cylinder is rendered pressureless and a press spring pressed onto the material between the rollers. In this position, the pivot bearing can be fixed for automatically adjusting the feed apparatus to the thickness of the material.

  • Patent number: 7111766
Abstract: The elongate rocker is forked at its first end and includes two fork tines. These are designed symmetrically relative to the longitudinal plane of symmetry of the rocker. A control rod with a longitudinal center axis is pivotally mounted at its bottom end to the second end of the rocker. A spiral pressing spring with a longitudinal center axis acts onto the rocker. The upper feeding roller is designed symmetrically to a plane extending perpendicularly relative to its longitudinal center axis. The longitudinal center axis of the control rod defines together with the longitudinal center axis of the pressing spring a geometrical plane. This plane coincides with the longitudinal plane of symmetry of the rocker, which in turn coincides with the geometrical plane which extends perpendicularly to the longitudinal center axis.

  • Patent number: 6763749
Abstract: A web speed metering device to which a moving web is fed at a constant web infeed speed and from which the web periodically exits at a different speed that is correlated with the timing of a downstream operation performed on the moving web. The metering device is a rotatable member that is non-axisymmetric and that has a cross-sectional shape having a centroid that is offset from the axis of rotation of the rotatable member to change the web output speed as the web exits from the metering device. The metering device allows a web to be fed to a downstream cutting device and enables the web output speed to be regulated so that the web as it leaves the metering device can be cut transversely by a non-instantaneous cut that takes place over a predetermined machine-direction distance, such as a chevron-shaped cut.

  • Patent number: 6068172
Abstract: In a device for transporting and temporarily storing a web-like recording medium in an electrographic printing or copying device, the recording medium is fed with a roller arrangement to a temporary storage unit by use of friction. A loop forming in the temporary storage unit is adjusted by a pendulum. When the pendulum is nearing a vertical position, tension on the recording medium is decreased to such an extent that the roller arrangement feeding the recording medium no longer has frictional driving engagement with the recording medium so that feed of the recording medium substantially ceases. When the pendulum is moved away from the vertical position towards a horizontal position as a result of the loop in the temporary storage unit being decreased, tension stress in the recording medium increases and frictional engagement at the roller arrangement increases so that the recording medium is then fed by the roller arrangement.

  • Patent number: 4699031
Abstract: A web of foam material is fed to a cutting station by upper and lower rollers drawing the web from a supply roll and along a low-friction table surface. A cutter station has a knife bar and blade, with a clamp bar coupled with the knife bar. The lower draw roller has its axle mounted in a pair of pivoted arms depressible by presser feet on a presser foot bar carried by the knife bar. When a desired length of web has been drawn past the cutter station, actuation of the knife bar lowers the blade toward a grooved anvil, while the presser feet swing the arms down to depress the lower roller away from the web to stop drawing it. Immediately after interrupting drawing action, the web is clamped by the clamp bar, and then immediately thereafter cutting occurs. The table has bridge-like fingers extending downstream through grooves in the movable lower feed roller. These fingers support the web when the lower roller is swung down.

  • Patent number: 4364505
Abstract: The invention relates to a hydraulically actuated feed roll lift mechanism for feeds utilized to feed strip stock into a machine, such as a mechanical press. Regulated hydraulic pressure acting against a piston that is connected to one of the feed rolls through a yoke forces the feed roll against the stock to grip the stock and cause an increment thereof to be fed into the press when the rolls are rotated. A roll opening cam, which is connected to the press crankshaft, advances a small piston to displace oil against the other side of the piston while the stock is at rest to thereby separate the rolls during the time that the dies are in contact with the stock in the press. The time at which roll separation is initiated is controlled by adjusting the angular position of the cam on its shaft, as by releasing a frictional lock mechanism, rotating the cam to the desired position, and then again locking it in place.

The instant transport utilizes two gaps in a rotor set apart at 180.degree., entrance of the film at a selected shallow angle, a shortened distance from the exposure gate to the film outlet with no decay of the film loop until expulsion, and a secondary pair of fixed registration pins disposed at the point of expulsion of the film at the film outlet which, in conjunction with a vacuum platen extending from the exposure gate to the film outlet, significantly reduces the jitter at the exposure gate, to allow the use of the transport in high density laser or electron beam recorders.
