  • Patent number: 5938098
Abstract: A positive pressure operated servo apparatus for lateral alignment of a continuous web of paper, plastic, textiles and other materials which are being processed at windup, unwind, printing, coating, folding and slitting stations, or other intermediate points in the machine process. The apparatus includes an air source communicating with a sensor and servo valve which regulates a double-acting air actuator having an output member to move a web positioning assembly. The servo valve is regulated by a diaphragm that is controlled by a pneumatic correction signal force from a low pressure sensor circuit and is arranged under the influence of such signal force to selectively position a valve element relative to two orifice openings to provide differential air pressure proportional to error to operate the actuator to produce actuator movement proportional to the error to correct and maintain the position of the web.

  • Patent number: 4116745
Abstract: Apparatus for forming a swimming pool cover or similar article having relatively large transverse dimensions by joining a plurality of elongated pieces of heat sealable material together is disclosed. The apparatus includes a working bed, and means for dispensing first and second pieces of heat sealable material onto the bed so that a marginal portion of the first piece is exposed. The apparatus folds the exposed marginal portion of the first piece over a corresponding marginal portion of the second piece, and the marginal portions are heat sealed together to form a single wider piece of material. The wider piece of material is drawn from the bed and stacked and then returned to the dispensing means for adding another elongate piece to the width of the material, eventually forming a piece of material sufficient to cover the entire pool.

Abstract: An automatic device for fixing the edge of a moving band, wherein the roll holder that feeds the band over at least one bar, is controlled by the band roll cross-traverse mechanism. This mechanism is made as an air cylinder whose chambers communicate with a system of compressed gas through a number of pipings and throttle valves provided in each of said pipings, whereas connected with their inlets between each of the throttle valves and the respective chamber of the air cylinder are nozzles adapted to provide a uniform gas discharge from both air cylinder chambers at a time. At least one of said nozzles is provided with a closure adapted to interact with the band edge, and thus serves as the band edge position detector capable of effecting control over the air cylinder operation.
