  • Patent number: 6837412
Abstract: A construction tool and method of use for affixing holding cap washers to roofing paper and building wrap tar paper. The tool is a combination of a fastener-driving gun together with a feeding magazine holding a clip of plastic cap washers to be affixed, and the feed magazine feeds successive cap washers under the nose of the fastener-driving gun so that fasteners, such as nails or staples, can penetrate the cap washer and hold down the roofing paper or building wrap tar paper. As the cap approaches the nose of the gun, the cap feeder flips the cap ninety degrees along an axis transverse to the feed direction. A shortened shuttle is used with a spring arm holding one edge of the leading cap in the magazine and the rearward portion of the shuttle holding the other edge of the leading cap.

Abstract: An automated power actuated gun, and a method of using the power actuated gun, the gun being able to drive a fastener assembly having a plate frictionally engaging a nail or stud by means of a trigger firing mechanism that allows the gun to be fired by the use of relative motion between a barrel portion of the gun and the trigger of the gun. The automated power actuated gun can also have attached thereto a fastener feeding track capable of carrying multiple fastener assemblies, and the plates of the fastener assemblies are curved or have grooves and the track is formed for mating engagement with the curved plate for allowing the guiding of the fastener assembly along the track.

  • Publication number: 20040188490
Abstract: An automated power actuated gun which drives a fastener assembly having a plate frictionally engaging a nail or stud into a hard substrate or surface such as concrete that has attached thereto a fastener feeding assembly. The fastener feeding assembly is formed with a spring-biased holder that holds the fastener assembly to be driven until the barrel is in position for driving the fastener assembly. The fastener feeding assembly is attached directly to the barrel of the power actuated gun. The fastener feeding assembly is formed with a window at the point where the fastener assembly to be driven is received by the barrel of the power actuated gun allowing the fastener feeding track to be used with fastener assemblies having legs that can bend inwardly when the fastener assembly is driven.

Abstract: A device attaches to a roofing nail gun for individually feeding disc-shaped tin tags into centered alignment with the nail gun hammer for safe and accurate center nailing of the tin tag to a host surface. A chute on the device extends from an open top end to a bottom end having a tin tag passage hole centered below the nail gun hammer. Tin Tags are individually deposited through the open top of the device and slide down the chute. Magnets at the bottom end direct and hold the tin tag in centered alignment between the nail gun hammer and passage hole. The bottom portion of the chute is spring biased to allow the nail gun to be pressed downwardly so that the hammer urges the tin tag through the hole and against the host surface prior to firing the nail.

  • Patent number: 6779700
Abstract: A cap assembly for an automatic cap feeder and fastener driver comprises a plurality of relatively thin, domed metal discs that can be pierced by fasteners discharged from a fastener driver such as a nail gun without bending the nail or jamming the driver, with the caps being connected together by a paper backed adhesive tape mounted on the undersides of the concave caps, with the caps having outer edges that are sufficiently sharp that they sever the tape from the strip of caps when the caps are driven into a substrate after a fastener has penetrated the caps. The fastener driver includes improved feeder teeth and an anti-backup pawl that extend into recesses in the track. A cover encloses an open edge of a cap storage basket.

Abstract: A stack of caps each have a central hole and a connection cord frictionally extends through the central holes for collection the caps as a stack. A ring is connected to a first end of the cord and an enlarged end piece is integrally formed on a second end of the cord. The enlarged end piece is slightly larger than the central hole of each cap so that it is allowed to be pulled through the central holes when the cord is pulled out from the stack of the caps. A pushing mechanism includes a cover and a pushing rod which movably extends through the cover. The cover is threadedly engaged with the threaded inner periphery defined in the open top of the tube and a spring is mounted to the pushing rod. A pushing end is connected to the pushing rod so as to press on a top of the stack of the caps.
