  • Patent number: 4596349
Abstract: Male or female annular components of fasteners are applied to articles of clothing in a machine wherein the lower tool of a pair of confronting tools has a socket for reception of the heads of discrete rivet-like connectors whose shanks extend upwardly toward the upper tool which has tongs with jaws for releasably holding a male or female component in such orientation that the central aperture of the component is in register with the shank of the connector in the socket of the lower tool. The upper tool further includes a ring-shaped hold-down device for the male or female component which is held by the tongs as well as a deforming plunger which can upset the tip of the shank after the latter has penetrated a garment between the two tools and thereupon through and partly beyond the aperture of the component in the tongs in response to downward movement of the upper tool. The hold-down device is movable axially relative to the tongs and the plunger is movable within limits axially of the hold-down device.

  • Patent number: 4454650
Abstract: An upper jaw and tool assembly for a machine for attaching snap fastener components to fabric is operable to safely receive and advance upper fastener component halves for the assembly thereof with lower component halves. A stationary housing of the assembly is mountable on an attaching machine so that the lower end of the housing is spaced only slightly above the guide plate of the machine to minimize operator risks from internal moving components of the assembly. Fingers mounted on the housing receive and position successively fed upper component halves therein and an upper tool continuously advances the halves downwardly to assemble them with lower component halves. The assembly operates without conventional vertically reciprocating jaw components and hence can be operated with a minimum of operator risks.

  • Patent number: 4323183
Abstract: The tag-dispensing device is designed for use with a hand-held plastic fastener attacher of the type having a needle for penetrating an article to be tagged and through which a fastener is dispensed. The device includes a support to which the attacher is movably mounted and upon which is situated a stack of tags. A slide is utilized to move a tag along the plane between the stack and a position in alignment with the needle of the attacher. The attacher is mounted to the support by a plate which is movable relative to the support between a position wherein the needle is remote from the plane of slide movement and a position wherein the needle intersects the plane. Slide movement may be accomplished manually or automatically in conjunction with the movement of the attacher by using a mechanical linkage, an electrically driven motor, a solenoid, or a pneumatic cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4278194
Abstract: A machine for the attachment of buttons, rivets or the like on clothing pieces, the lower parts of which are fed via rails from a magazine laterally oriented up to the vicinity of the attachment position and from there are transferred into the attachment position. The rail which feeds the bottom parts in the edgewise position exits at an angle which is offset by about 90 degrees relative to the attachment position. Between the exit position and the attachment position there extends a circular arc-shaped slide surface starting tangentially from the exit area and running approximately tangentially into the attachment position. A rotatable ring section runs on the slide surface. The ring section, which is equipped on its front end with a reception pocket, transfers respectively one lower part into the attachment position and during its movement its ring-narrow-edge closes the exit of the feed rail.

  • Patent number: 4135287
Abstract: A snap fastener attaching system employs a moveable carriage assembly which is controlled in linear motion by a belt system coupled to an actuator mechanism. The carriage assembly includes clamping means which are sequentially operated to clamp a garment on the assembly after emplacement by an operator. The depression of a start button enables the actuator to traverse a shaft. Associated with the actuator is a pivotable arm which is located in proximity to a selected shaft of a cam-containing turret assembly. As the actuator moves, the carriage moves proportionately due to the belt coupling system. Each time the actuator arm contacts a cam along the turret shaft, a fastener is emplaced on the garment by the snap fastener attaching machine associated with the carriage assembly. When the last fastener is emplaced, the apparatus is automatically returned to the starting position to enable accommodation of the next garment.
