Patent number: 12145185Abstract: The prediction system of strip chew collects and stores first data and second data as adaptive model construction data. The first data indicates the occurrence or non-occurrence of the strip chew in an object rolling path and the occurrence point of the strip chew. The second data includes information on a preceding rolling path and attribute information on an object strip. The system constructs an adaptive model using the stored adaptive model construction data, and stores the constructed adaptive model as an adapted model. The system collects prediction data similar to the second data. Then, the system inputs the prediction data to the adapted model to predict the occurrence or non-occurrence of the strip chew in the object rolling path and all or some of the occurrence points of the strip chew before the prediction object strip reaches the object rolling path.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 2019Date of Patent: November 19, 2024Assignee: TMEIC CORPORATIONInventors: Masayasu Sekimoto, Hiroyuki Imanari, Mitsuhiko Sano, Girish Babu Meruva, Sai Prem Kumar Ayyagari

Patent number: 8678265Abstract: Disclosed herein is a strip joining apparatus for pipe mill equipment. The strip joining apparatus cuts a trailing end of a preceding steel strip and a leading end of a following steel strip, and puts the cut surfaces of the two steel strips into contact with each other, and then welds them to each other. Particularly, a cutting blade of a first cutting unit and a cutting blade of a second cutting unit are inclined in the downward direction at predetermined angles relative to each other. Thus, the ends of the two steel strips, which are respectively cut by the cutting blades, define a ‘V’-shape groove. In this state, the cut ends of the two steel strips are put in close contact with each other and are welded to each other, so that the quality of welding of the junction between the thick strips can be enhanced.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 2012Date of Patent: March 25, 2014Assignee: Baek Chun Precision Co., Ltd.Inventor: Nak Chun Baek

Patent number: 8003914Abstract: A butt welding system and a butt welding method of steel plate by which the quality of a product can be ensured. Butting portions of blank members (1,2) to be joined together are butted and a predetermined butting load is applied to the butting portion, wherein the blank members (1,2) are moved relatively in the direction of the welding line thus matching the butting portions. Protrusions and recesses formed on each butting portion of each blank member (1,2) are flattened, whereby linear precision at each butting portion of each blank member (1,2) is enhanced as compared with a case where the butting portions are not matched. Since the gap is reduced extremely at the butting portion, welding is facilitated at the butting portion. Good welding beads are thereby obtained at the butting portion and the quality of a product is ensured.Type: GrantFiled: October 13, 2006Date of Patent: August 23, 2011Assignee: Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Masahiro Nishio, Masaki Tanzawa, Masako Hida, Takayuki Shimizu, Keiichi Kashiwabara, Shuuji Sakemi

Publication number: 20010015367Abstract: A plurality of materials are rolled in an upstream stand. While transfer speed of a succeeding material and the front end position thereof are detected, the transfer speed and the rear end position of a preceding material are detected by a measuring roll. The transfer speed of the succeeding material is controlled by adjusting at least the drive speed of the pinch rolls so as the front end of the succeeding material to contact with the rear end of the preceding material at a specified position in a travelling welder. the rear end of the preceding material is joined with the front end of the succeeding material by flash-butt welding using the travelling welder to form a continuous material while letting the travelling welder move at a speed synchronous with the transfer speed of the continuous material. The welded portion on the continuous material is ground and/or cut to remove burr therefrom.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 3, 2001Publication date: August 23, 2001Applicant: NKK CORPORATION - Japanese CorporationInventors: Giichi Matsuo, Susumu Okawa, Koji Okushima

Patent number: 6244494Abstract: An apparatus and method for leveling the clamping surface to obtain proper heat sink for narrow strips in a coil end joiner which includes a coil material support table and a retaining plate which is positioned against the upper surface of the coil material to be joined by, for example, one or more air cylinders. A weld clamp leveler is also provided which is adjustable to provide a preselected offset between the coil material support table and the retaining plate in a forward portion of the coil material support table. The weld clamp leveler is preferably used when relatively narrow coil material is being joined to preclude tilting of the retaining plate relative to the coil material support table and the coil material being joined and is preferably adjusted to provide approximately the same offset between the coil end support table and the retaining plate as the thickness of the coil material being joined.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 1999Date of Patent: June 12, 2001Assignee: Iron Bay, Inc.Inventor: Steve Shaffer

Patent number: 6213381Abstract: A bonding apparatus for bonding metal plates, includes an overlapping mechanism for overlapping end portions of the metal plates, at least two supports for supporting the overlapped portion of the metal plates at one side of the metal plates, and a shearing blade disposed opposite the supports so as to sandwich the overlapped portion of the metal plates therebetween, wherein a moving mechanism is provided for relatively moving at least one of the shearing blade and the supports so as to press the shearing blade into the overlapped portion of the metal plates disposed between the supports and the shearing glade. A method for bonding is characterized by bonding metal plates by using the above apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 1998Date of Patent: April 10, 2001Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Takao Funamoto, Gen Nagakubo, Takashi Mashiko, Fuminori Ishikawa, Tadashi Nishino, Yusutsugu Yoshimura, Toshiyuki Kajiwara, Kenichi Yasuda, Mitsuo Nihei, Yoshio Takakura, Hironori Shimogama
