Including Closure Patents (Class 229/67.4)
  • Patent number: 6659336
Abstract: A horizontally extendable and contractible container for handling relatively flat objects. The container comprises a plurality of receptacles interconnected in series. A single receptacle has the capacity to store a relatively flat object or a plurality of flat objects. The receptacles are formed as open sided pockets, allowing for a wide range of object thicknesses to be contained. The facing walls of the receptacles are absent of any protrusions or holes that could inhibit an object during the insertion of the object. When transportation of the container is desired, a flap on the back most panel is wrapped over the top of the container and an elastic strap secures the container and the contained objects for transportation. A sliding mechanism, substantially isolated from the contained objects is fully integrated into the design of the receptacles and provides the necessary functionality to horizontally extend and contract the container.

Abstract: A portable document storage device is formed of a filing pouch having a collapsible pocket and a foldable flap extending from its back cover, and an expandable filing case. The filing case is partitioned by a plurality of indexed section dividers that divide the filing case into a plurality of pockets to receive papers in an orderly manner. Mutually engageable releaseable fasteners are located on the back cover of the filing case and on the front cover of the filing pouch. When the releaseable fasteners are engaged the filing case can be carried with the filing pouch and is enveloped by the foldable cover of the filing pouch. Alternatively, the fasteners may be released from each other so that the filing case may be completely or partially detached from the filing pouch.

  • Patent number: 6453589
Abstract: This invention provides for an essentially open file folder construction where the containment means allows for use of the file folder in an open style as featured in all file folders, while at the same time providing for a box like closure structure that allows for closure along the spine and orthogonal bottom edge of the file folder, which locking closure has the additional feature of showing a substantial portion of the contents, enabling a self typing categorization of the folder by way of the meaning first member contained therein, which member is partially viewable when said file folder is set into its locked configuration.

  • Patent number: 6409409
Abstract: A foldable paper sheet is formed having a sheet body portion, a sheet lower side flap extending out from a lower side edge of the sheet body portion, a pocket panel extending out from a bottom edge of the sheet body portion, and a pocket side flap extending out from a side edge of the pocket panel. The pocket side flap is folded in towards the pocket panel, the pocket panel is folded up and the pocket side flap is glued to the back face of the sheet body portion. The sheet lower side flap is folded and glued to the pocket panel. The pocket panel is thereby secured along both side edges to the sheet body portion, has an open top and thus defines a pocket on the back of the sheet body portion. The pocket panel can have a finger notch at the center of its top edge. A tab is cut out of the edge portion of the sheet body portion to form a tabbed divider sheet. The tab advantageously can be formed at any location along the edge portion including at a lower location directly adjacent to the pocket.

  • Patent number: 6394497
Abstract: A document holder includes a casing and a lid for covering an opening of the casing. A quick-release device includes a strap engaging member fixed on the lid to define a strap engagement space with an entrance for access thereinto. A non-elastic strap has a fixing section fixed to the lid, a pulling section, and a middle section which spans a distal free end of the strap engaging member. A stop member prevents movement of the pulling section into the strap engagement space. An elastic strap is mounted on the casing, and is elastically stretchable to pull the lid to a closed position. Under this condition, the elastic strap passes through the strap engaging member and pulls the middle section into the strap engagement space such that the middle section defines an inverted U-shaped portion that straddles over a portion of the elastic strap in the strap engagement space and a U-shaped portion that inversely straddles over the distal free end of the strap engaging member.

  • Publication number: 20020060166
Abstract: A carrying case for removably holding an expandable file folder, the carrying case including a body member having opposite end portions, the body member being foldable about a central axis between a substantially flat unfolded position and a folded closed position. In a preferred embodiment, the carrying case includes at least one tab member fixedly attached to each opposite end of the body member, each tab member being positioned and located to operatively engage one of the outer side walls of the expandable file folder when the file folder is positioned therewithin. Each tab member is bendable in a direction away from the body member so as to engage and overlap an edge portion of one of the outer side walls of the expandable file folder for removably holding the file folder within the carrying case such that when the carrying case is opened and closed, the file folder will open and close in unison therewith.

  • Publication number: 20010004993
Abstract: A document folder has a cover formed of relatively flexible sheet material with a back and front panels, and a spine hingedly connecting the panels so that they may be disposed in an overlying position and provide an enclosure for documents therebetween. The panels are movable relative to each other about the spine, and disposed therebetween is a relatively rigid stiffener dimensioned cooperatively with the back panel to rigidify the folder when stored vertically. A document holder is engaged with the stiffener for securing a multiplicity of documents between the stiffener and the front panel. The cover may be integrally formed or assembled from separate panels, one of which provides the spine.
