Abstract: The package opening device is an adhesive strip adapted for mounting on a cover of a package, the adhesive strip having a gripping member allowing the user to pull on the gripping member to tear at least a portion of the cover of the package. The package opening device includes a base strip having a proximal portion, a distal portion, an upper surface, and a lower surface. An adhesive layer at least partially covers the distal portion of the lower surface of the base strip, and the uncovered proximal portion forms the gripping member. Further, a release liner may be provided for covering the adhesive layer prior to application to the cover of the package. Alternatively, a plurality of adhesive strips may be provided, with the plurality of adhesive strips being joined together by a line, with user-generated tension in the line creating the tearing force.

Abstract: A rack for carrying a bicycle on a vehicle. The rack includes a frame adapted to be secured to the vehicle and a securing structure mounted to the frame. The securing structure is adapted to receive and selectively secure and release a portion of the bicycle. The securing structure further includes generally symmetric adjustment mechanisms disposed on each side of a plane defined by the bicycle whereby the securing structure can be secured to or released from the portion of the bicycle from either side of the bicycle.

Abstract: A label (6) for re-closable packages (1) has an application side (8) on which a layer of self-adhesive glue (20) is spread for application to a surface (7) of a re-closable package (1) to achieve a predetermined adhesive strength. The application side (8) is siliconized in a manner such that the adhesive strength between the side (8) and the layer of self-adhesive glue (20) is less than the predetermined strength. After application, the layer of glue (20) is transferred to the application surface (7), eliminating the risk of tearing of the re-closable package (1).

Abstract: A bicycle rack adapted to be detachably mounted to a vehicle via a standard trailer hitch receiver with the bicycle rack having a vertical support pivotally connected at its lower end to a base assembly with a bicycle carrier assembly connected to the upper end of the vertical support. The bicycle carrier assembly includes two generally rectangular plates detachably connected together adapted to receive the crossbars of bicycles. A pin releasably locks the vertical support in an upright position. Upon removal of the pin the vertical support pivots rearwardly away from the vehicle. Tail lights are mounted on the carrier assembly.

The removable strip portion is defined by interior and exterior partial cuts scored into the foldable material, including a plurality of aligned interrupted exterior cuts that are disposed for an extent coincidentally with an associated fold line. The removable strip portion thus constructed helps ensure folding of the associated flap or panel about the intended fold line while maintaining the strength and integrity of the folded edge.

Abstract: A packing case for cans or containers that can be readily opened without the use of a cutting tool and, when opened, provides a tray for the display of the contents of the packing case is disclosed. A tearing score is provided in each side panel of the packing case and has a configuration allowing the weight of the cans or containers within the case to cause the separation of the top portion of the case from the bottom portion when the top portion is lifted upwardly, such separation producing a relatively smooth edge on the bottom portion of the case which can be used for display purposes. A lifting access opening, reinforced by reinforcement material, is provided in each side panel adjacent the bottom panel of the packing case to assist in the lifting of same.

Abstract: An improved system for separating a corrugated fiberboard panel along a separation line is disclosed. A corrugated fiberboard panel has an inner liner and an outer liner with a corrugated medium sandwiched therebetween. At least two spaced-apart strings are located in the panel beneath the outer liner. The strings are located on opposite sides of a separation line defined on the panel. A pull tab is located in the outer liner, and is connected to at least one of the strings such that when the pull tab is pulled away from said panel and transverse to the separation line at least one of the strings cuts through at least a portion of the panel, and at least one of the other strings acts as a guide to define the location of the cut. The system is economical to produce and is readily incorporated in the corrugated fiberboard during its manufacture. It is also a reliable system that is easy to use.

Abstract: A package consisting in an article packaged by a packaging film exhibiting heat shrinkability is disclosed. The packaging film has its wrapping terminal end formed with a protuberant tearing tab, and a severing tape is bonded to the inner surface of the film for extending from the distal end of the tearing tab along the entire length of the film along the article wrapping direction. The severing tape has a width lesser than the width of the tearing tab and is formed of a material having heat shrinkage percentage lower than that of the film. The tearing tab has its distal end reduced in width for reducing the allowance for heat fusion. For reducing the allowance for heat fusion, the distal end of the tearing tab is semi-circular in contour. The distal end of the severing tape substantially in register with the center sealing region of the film is designed as a non-fusing region to facilitate the exfoliation of the severing tape.

Abstract: A locking arrangement for interlocking two or more overlapped panels includes an outer panel having a locking tab at least partially covering a first aperture, the locking tab being connected at a base to the outer panel along a foldable portion. An inner panel has a retention tab at least partially covering a retention aperture, the retention tab being connected at a base to the inner panel along a foldable portion. The inner and outer panels are overlapped so that the locking and retention tabs are substantially overlapped with the foldable portions thereof in opposed relationship whereby the locking tab may be driven through the first aperture and the retention aperture to displace the retention tab into a mutually locked and braced position. The locking tab may be released from the locked and braced relationship by a pull tab struck from both the locking tab and the outer panel, the pull tab being connected to the locking tab and extending into the outer panel through the foldable portion.

Abstract: A soft pack for paper tissues is disclosed. Soft packs for paper tissues which have a reclosable tear-open flap (21) are often provided with large-surfaced wide adhesive labels (24) to ensure a better stability. These adhesive labels are made by punching from a web of material (26) corresponding to the width of the adhesive label (24). When the adhesive is applied, an area is left out to form an adhesive-free grip tab (25). The grip tab (25) is colorcoded with an appropriate coating. A marginal strip (31) is left free from the adhesive and free from the colored coating. The punch cut is applied in the region of this strip (31).

Abstract: Pack made from board for free-flowing products such as detergent, with two side panels, a front panel, a back panel, a base and a closure flap which is hinged to the back panel and under which further flaps hinged to the other panels are located, where the flap hinged to the front panel extends across the whole cross-section of the pack and has a tab hinged to it that rests against the inside of the closure flap. The flap (24) hinged to the front panel (3) has parallel score lines (27, 28) provided at least to some extent in duplicate and located a short distance from the top edges of the two side panels (4, 5) which also extend across the hinged tab (26) and act as tear lines. Sections (19, 20, 21) that overlap the side panels (4, 5) and the front panel (3) to at least a small extent are provided on the closure flap (17), the section (21) overlapping the front panel (3) being provided with a tab (32), in the area of which this section is glued to the front panel for subsequent separation (31).

Abstract: A reclosable article case has a main portion which receives a plurality of articles and a closed top comprising inner closure flaps and outer closure flaps. One or more of the outer closure flaps include a tearback tab formed by weakened lines. A base portion of this tearback tab lies immediately over some of the articles in the case while an outer portion of this tearback tab overlies an inner closure flap. Tearing back the tearback tabs provide direct access to at least a portion of the upper parts of all articles within the case for purposes of marking same with tickets or the like. The tearback tabs are then unfolded back to their original flat state, and then tucked underneath an edge of the inner closure flap over which each previously overlied, thus reclosing the article case.

Abstract: A carton and blank for forming the same are disclosed and includes a bottom panel, a top panel, side walls extending substantially perpendicularly away from the bottom panel toward the top panel with the side walls being connected to the bottom panel about a periphery thereof, and overlapping side walls extending substantially perpendicularly away from the top panel toward the bottom panel from predetermined peripheral edges of the top panel. An opening device is formed in the top panel for permitting access to an interior of the carton with the opening device including an opening force receiving mechanism in the form of a lifting tab is integrally formed in one of the overlapping side walls of the top panel for providing an initiation point for the opening device.
