  • Patent number: 10266301
Abstract: A container for consumer articles is at least partially formed from a blank defining a portion of the container, which comprises a first and a second planar walls connected to one another by a curved edge portion. An inner surface of the curved edge portion defines an ablation area (A) having a length (L) in the longitudinal direction of the curved edge portion and a width (W) that extends along the curve of the curved edge portion. The ablation area comprises a plurality of pairs of ablation lines, all of which extend in parallel in the longitudinal direction of the curved edge portion. The distance (X) between two ablated zones in each pair as measured along the width (W) of the ablation area is less than the distance (Y) between two adjacent pairs of ablated zones as measured along the width (W) of the ablation area.

  • Patent number: 9016497
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for forming a package by moulding a cardboard blank in such a manner that a margin area (2) of the blank, surrounding a middle portion (1) of the blank, is bent upwards to form side walls of the package while the middle portion forms a bottom of the package. The cardboard blank prior to moulding is provided with at least one area (4) of reduced bending stiffness being located in a transition zone (3) between the side walls and the bottom. The package is moulded from the blank so that the at least one area (4) of reduced bending stiffness is located in the bended areas between the side walls and the bottom and extend in the running direction of the bend. The invention further relates to a package and a package blank that can be used for forming said package.

Abstract: A multi-ply paperboard container for use as a bulk material bin has elongate rectangular cross-sectioned tubular inner and outer shells having walls that are spaced apart from one another. Rectangular panels, having a width less than the width of the walls of the shells, are located between and adhesively bonded to each overlying pair of walls. Thus, gaps are formed between the inner and outer shell at each corner of the container. The corners of the inner and outer shells are crushed to provide wide soft corners. These gaps and crushed corners permit the container to be easily knocked down to a flat configuration without a substantial amount of spring-back. The container includes a bottom cap having end flaps inserted between the inner and outer shells or between adjacent plies in the inner or outer shells, and the outer shell has closure flaps which fold over the bottom cap to keep the end flaps in place. • Patent number: 5848749
Abstract: A gable top carton and its corresponding carton blank are disclosed. The carton includes curved side creases that are defined by curved score lines that divide one or more side panels from a top gabled structure and/or a bottom structure. The gabled structure includes pairs of diagonal creases defined by diagonal score lines. The diagonal score lines form an apex at one end and extend to vertical score lines that separate the side panels of the carton at the edge between adjacent side panels. The diagonal score lines form an angle with the vertical score lines. The vertex of the angle formed is coincident with the vertical score line to facilitate folding and create better quality corners by reducing bunching of carton material at the corner.

  • Patent number: 5797543
Abstract: The invention relates to a method wherein on at least one side of the cardboard in the at least one wall panel (1), a number of creases (2, 3, 4) are provided in the cardboard through a die-cutting or pressing operation, which creases (2, 3, 4) are at least locally slightly spaced apart and extend parallel to each other at that location. The invention also relates to a box manufactured by means of the method according to the invention and to a die-cutting apparatus for carrying out the method according to the invention to provide a blank for a box according to the invention.

  • Patent number: 5752648
Abstract: An eight sided poultry box formed from a unitary blank of corrugated paperboard. The lower ends of each of the four corner panels are provided with folds, the folds extending from peripheral corner portions of the box bottom towards the exterior surfaces of the corner panels. The folds function as abutments and restrict rotational movement of the corner panels about their longitudinal axes occasioned by compressive forces exerted on the box ends during shipment and handling. A first embodiment exhibits special utility as a manually erectable box, while a second embodiment is adapted to be erected by automatic machinery.

  • Patent number: 5564623
Abstract: A receptacle (10), such as an attache case or brief case, has a cover panel (22), back panel (24), front panel (26), top panel (30), bottom panel (32) opposing tabs (34) and opposing side panels (36). The case is made from a unitary sheet of expanded polyethylene. The expanded polyethylene sheet material is produced by encapsulating a thermoplastic blowing agent (azodicarbonamide) within an ethylene vinyl acetate carrier resin to form a pelletized compound which is combined with high-density polyethylene resin and extruded. The melt temperature of the pelletized blowing agent is lower than that of the polyethylene resin, and controls the expansion of the polyethylene resin.

Abstract: Hinge-lid box for cigarettes or the like, with box part (12) and lid (13).For the material-saving and simpler manufacture of hinge-lid boxes, a collar (38) is connected integrally, via material webs (43, 44, 45), to a main blank (33) for the hinge-lid box. The resulting overall blank is folded in a conventional manner, the material webs (43, 44, 45) effecting a connection of the lid (10) to the box part (12) in the region of the lid front wall (20). When the hinge-lid box is opened for the first time, the material webs (43, 44, 45) are broken.

  • Patent number: 5489061
Abstract: A carton including a bevel panel and adjacent areas comprised of multi-ply construction. The bevel panel of each ply is defined in part by spaced score lines. The score lines of each ply are spaced apart a distance greater than the spacing of the score lines of the next outer ply. This results in the plies of the bevel panel being slightly spaced from each other. An example of such bevel panels is in the type of container formed by wrapping a slotted flexible sheet about rigid end panels having corner areas which extend through the slots.
