The system and method operates on a mobile device and, following the provision of a target digital image which includes a plurality of alpha numeric characters visibly disposed thereon, identifies the spatial location of the characters and converts them into machine-encoded text. A clickable overlay is then positioned over the characters which were converted and the clickable overlay is linked to the machine-encoded text corresponding to the characters it was placed over. The machine-encoded text may be converted into an auditory expression that is also linked to the relevant clickable overlay.
