  • Patent number: 9566599
Abstract: Systems and methods for producing consistent spray patterns and for diminishing clogging experienced when applying spray adhesive from a spray gun are provided. One system includes an automatic non-atomizing spray valve operably coupled to a first and second flow valve. The spray and flow valves are electronically controlled using logic running on a processing unit. The logic is programmed to carry out a spray cycle that involves dispensing a first liquid from the spray valve (first phase) and then dispensing a second liquid through the same spray valve (second phase). Because the first liquid (e.g., water-based adhesive) has the potential to clog a nozzle of the spray valve, a short burst of the second liquid (e.g., cleaning fluid) is introduced to prevent the nozzle from clogging. The spray valve is configured as a pulse width modulated spray gun to further reduce clogging and to generate an evenly distributed spray pattern.

Shoulder straps attached to the frame allow the user to wear the device on his back leaving the hands of the operator free to operate other tools such as a chain saw or perform other tasks. Also, wearing the device on the back makes it easier to transport the device over long distances to the source of the fire or backfire to be started. The device's blower generates a stream of air at high speeds. This stream of air can be used to feed a fire when the air is directed at a fire. When used to extinguish a fire, air from the blower is tapped from a point 180 degrees removed from the blower output and mixed with exhaust from the engine. This mixture is diverted through a Y-shaped valve into the airstream coming out of the blower. When the device is used to start backfires a fire is started.

Abstract: A diesel exhaust aftertreatment device regeneration system includes an exhaust conduit adapted to conduct exhaust gas to an exhaust gas aftertreatment device. The system further includes a low pressure bottom feed fuel injector having an inlet portion fully received within a chamber of an adaptor housing having a lower portion attached to the exhaust conduit. The housing is provided with fuel flow openings to allow low pressure fuel to circulate around and cool the fuel injector inlet portion within the chamber. Fuel injected into the exhaust conduit is preferably targeted toward a vaporization member, within the exhaust conduit, operative to absorb heat from the exhaust gas and vaporize fuel deposited thereon. A plurality of inwardly extending mixing baffles within the exhaust conduit intermediate the vaporization member and the aftertreatment device extend the mixing path to improve fuel vaporization for assisting regeneration of the device.

Abstract: The present invention provides a low pressure and low temperature steam cleaner for washing vehicles. A vaporizing unit which vaporizes water at low temperature and low pressure is used to supply steam through a delivery device, such as a wand, to clean a car. The steam supplied is applied to the car, often with various chemicals, to lift and remove dirt and debris. Because the steam is supplied at low temperature and pressure, very little water and/or chemicals are needed, and the propensity of damaging the car's finish is reduced. For similar reasons, one can use the same device to clean the interior of the car (including generally water-averse materials such as fabrics and leather), thus, providing the above described advantages.

  • Patent number: 5522543
Abstract: A pressurization system for a tank on a water truck includes a pipe connected at one end via a remotely controllable three-way valve directly into the engine exhaust system of the truck and at the other end into a top portion of the water tank. Engine exhaust is thus selectively introduced into the water tank to pressurize the tank. The tank includes a top-mounted fill opening with an internal, counter-weighted flapper valve. With the internal flapper valve, the truck can be driven beneath a high volume water source and water from the source, when it hits the counter-weighted flapper valve, opens the valve by urging the flapper against the action of the counter-weight, but the flapper valve is once again closed by action of the counter-weight when water flow ceases. An anti-siphon orifice in a water outlet conduit serves to prevent water from freezing in the outlet conduit once pressurization is stopped.
