Abstract: A high-volume sprinkler head includes a barrel with a nozzle; a fixed portion and a relatively movable portion adapted for pivoting movement relative to the fixed portion. The barrel is mounted on an upper support base rotatable on a lower stationary base in opposite directions through an arc about a vertical axis. A fluid-operated actuator pivots the relatively movable portion of the barrel relative to the fixed portion of the barrel between first and second reaction angles that cause the barrel and the annular upper support base to rotate in opposite directions, about the substantially vertical axis, respectively, when a stream is emitted from the nozzle. A three-way valve in combination with adjustable stops on the stationary base may be used to pilot the actuator, with the adjustable stops determining the arcuate extent of the rotational movement of the sprinkler head.

Abstract: Many areas watered by prior art oscillating sprinklers are substantially rectangular. However, prior art oscillating sprinklers typically produce generally or substantially elliptical water distribution patterns. This geometric incompatibility causes problems and inefficiencies. Embodiments of the current invention include an oscillating sprinkler that automatically produces a substantially rectangular water distribution pattern. The substantially rectangular water distribution pattern may be produced by automatically controlling the distance from the sprinkler that streams of water travel before impacting the ground. This is accomplished by automatically and sequentially opening and closing and/or restricting flow to select nozzles at select points and within select portions of the oscillation cycle. A current invention oscillating sprinkler may reduce waste water, may reduce run-off waste water, and may automatically provide water to the corner areas of typical substantially rectangular areas to be watered.

The ejection nozzle has a geometry comprising, on its length at least, a minimal section or neck at a location of the axis-vector. Among others things, due to the nozzle geometry, the expansion obtained inside the ejection nozzle allows the first liquid-gas mixture from the distribution chamber to be converted into a second mixture, according to the flow configuration, consisting for instance of a diphasic mist jet having an ejection range and liquid particle size that can be controlled according to the liquid and gas mass flow and to the absolute pressure at the injection inlet.

  • Patent number: 7484674
Abstract: The present invention provides an improved water flow switching mechanism of a gear-type sprinkler, which addresses problems of typical gear-type sprinklers, such as invalid water switching and poor stability. The gear-type sprinkler includes a water inlet portion, a water outlet portion and accommodating space. A convex framework is additionally placed onto the accommodating space opposite the separate water outlets. Two lateral grooves are defined in the convex framework, each corresponding to a water outlet. So the pivotal portion of the rotary switching seat is assembled centrally into the convex framework. The rotary switching seat is provided with two opposite extension flanges. The extension flange may block the lateral groove of the convex framework in line with the swinging direction of the rotary switching seat. The water-stop area of rotary switching seat is greatly increased, thus ensuring the stability of the water flow switching state and improving performance of the sprinkler.
