Abstract: A valve having a membrane for controlling flow through the valve, the membrane having open and closed positions. An element urges the membrane to the closed position, and a vacuum pressure at one end of the valve may overcome the urging of the element, thereby moving the membrane to the open position. An actuator is provided for easing or initiating the movement of the membrane. In some embodiments, the valve may take the form of a valve assembly for use in a variety of applications, for example, a valve assembly for relieving a vacuum pressure wherein the assembly includes intake and exhaust ends, a membrane for controlling flow through the assembly, a spring providing a closing bias to the membrane that the vacuum pressure may overcome to move the membrane, and an actuator for initiating the movement of the membrane.

  • Patent number: 7497389
Abstract: An airless spray pump system and method for spraying a binder solution having suspended particles which are non-abrasive for coating a product therewith is described. A reservoir contains a supply of the binder solution and is continuously mixed to maintain the solution in a homogeneous state. An inlet check valve is connected to the reservoir and the check valve has an outlet port which is connected to a pump. The check valve is operated by an upstroke of a piston of the pump to draw a volume of a solution through the check valve and into the pump while the pump supplies, under high pressure, a solution in a transfer chamber thereof to a pressure control unit of a spray apparatus. When the piston of the pump is in a return stroke, it forces the check valve to close under pressure and simultaneously operates a transfer check valve of the pump to open to transfer solution into the transfer chamber and forces a portion of the solution to the pressure control unit.

  • Patent number: 7032841
Abstract: A hand-held battery power sprayer is formed of a body having a spray nozzle, a trigger, and an internally threaded attachment collar having a passageway therethrough. The attachment collar removably receives a container. As battery powered pump is positioned within the body, the pump having an inlet and an outlet, the outlet being connected by a discharge tube to the spray nozzle and the inlet connected by a suction tube extending through the inlet collar passageway into the interior of a liquid-holding container when the container affixed to the attachment collar. A battery is contained within the body. A switch within the body is actuated by this trigger. Circuitry connects the battery, switch, and pump in series. A passive check valve member normally closes the passageway preventing fluid flow from the container into the body and is displaceable to permit air flow into the container.

  • Patent number: 6997396
Abstract: An airbrush as used for a media delivery system comprises an air pressurizer, a power source and a media reservoir integrated into a single hand held device. The air pressurizer comprises a pump and motor assembly delivering pressurized air by way of first and second air conduits to a nozzle. The media is stored in a detachable reservoir housed within the device and provided with a liquid conduit for conducting the media to the nozzle. Upon actuation of a spray button, the pump and motor assembly causes a stream of air to flow through the first and second air conduits and past an opening in the media conduit. Thus, a negative pressure is induced into the media conduit. The negative pressure draws liquid from the reservoir through the media conduit where it is entrained within the air stream as minute droplets and exits the body of the airbrush through a nozzle.

Abstract: This invention relates to equipment and a method for providing superior power washing at relatively low pressures. The equipment uses a unique mixing chamber wherein a pressurized water stream is mixed with a pressurized additive stream. For example, the additive stream enters the mixing chamber at a pressure at least that of the carrier, or water, stream. There is no need to operate the carrier liquid stream at substantially higher pressures than the desired delivery pressure.
