Having Means To Lock Plunger Or Pump Patents (Class 239/359)
  • Patent number: 9655702
Abstract: The appliance (10, FIG. 1) includes a body portion (27) and a nozzle portion (30) through which a spray of liquid droplets exits from a distal end thereof for cleaning of dental regions. The nozzle includes an orifice (36) at a proximal end thereof adjacent the body portion, as well as a pump (38) for moving liquid into an area of the nozzle just forward of the orifice. A mechanical system (12, 13, 14) is provided for moving a plunger or piston element (16) first away from the orifice under tension, such as a compression spring (24), and then controllably releasing the plunger or piston toward the orifice, the plunger/piston moving with sufficient force that atmospheric air which has been drawn into the appliance between the plunger or piston is forced through the orifice at a sufficiently high rate of speed to produce a spray of fluid droplets for dental cleaning when the moving air comes into contact with the liquid in the nozzle.

  • Patent number: 8505833
Abstract: A medical liquid transfer system includes a pump configured to transfer liquid between at least two containers. A detachable connector is detachably secured to the pump. The detachable connector has at least one pump passage to transmit pumping pressure from the pump to at least one of the containers. The detachable connector can include one or more liquid impermeable and gas permeable membranes to ensure the liquid is retained in the detachable connector. After the fluid is transferred the detachable connector is removed and replaced by a new one in order to prevent contamination of the pump. An interlock mechanism is used to prevent premature removal of the detachable connector and/or the container being filled.

  • Patent number: 8469292
Abstract: A system for coating a target surface comprises texture material, a bottle for containing the texture material, a spray pump assembly, a resilient member, and a collar member. The spray pump assembly comprises a pump housing operatively connected to the bottle, a dip tube extending from the pump housing to the texture material within the bottle, and an actuator member. The resilient member is supported by the pump housing to define an outlet opening. The collar member is supported by the pump housing such that the collar member is movable relative to the resilient member. Moving the collar member relative to the resilient member deforms the resilient member to alter a cross-sectional area of the outlet opening. The actuator member is displaced to force the texture material through the dip tube, out of the bottle member, through the outlet opening, and onto the target surface.

  • Patent number: 7942665
Abstract: An igniter can include a safety mechanism which is easily operated by an adult but is difficult for a child to release. In particular, an igniter can include: a nozzle section which emits a flame; a fuel introduction section; an ignition section which ignites the introduced fuel, wherein the ignition section is configured in such a manner that the fuel is ignited by movement of an ignition operating section to an ignition position; a movement restricting section having restricting sections which restrict the movement of the ignition operating section; and a permitting section which permits movement. When moving the movement restricting section, either the restricting sections or the permitting section can be disposed so as to correspond to the direction of movement of the ignition operating section.

  • Patent number: 7798429
Abstract: The handheld spray receptor provides an apparatus which, when used with a supply of a liquid under pressure, dispenses a liquid material in a pattern that is controlled by an inexpensive and disposable actuator. Such actuators are employed as an industry standard part that would be found on any aerosol spray can, and feature small cylindrical actuators that may be easily interchanged, so as to provide varied spray patterns. A purging model provides for a quick and convenient method of purging liquid from the actuator, so as to prevent hardening of liquid material exposed to the atmosphere, and a subsequent clogging of the receptor. When used with a supply of liquid under pressure and access to a propellant, the handheld spray receptor significantly reduces the amount of hazardous waste, in the form of partially consumed aerosol cans, that would otherwise enter landfills or hazardous waste recycling facilities.

  • Patent number: 7712682
Abstract: A reservoir (402) for connection to a spray gun has a lid (410) provided with an outlet spout (415) that is rotatably received in a socket of an inlet adaptor (419) connectable to the spray gun. The lid (410) has a spring leg (425) spaced from the outlet spout (415) with a projection (426) at the distal end for self-latching engagement with a flange (423) of the adaptor (419) to secure releasably the reservoir (402) to the spray gun. The engagement of the projection (426) and flange (423) enables the reservoir (401) to be rotated through 360° to adjust the position of the reservoir (402) while attached to the spray gun.

  • Publication number: 20010035466
Abstract: An adaptor for use on a spray can which is normally operable by pushing down on a valve button with one's finger to open a valve and release pressurized contents in a sprayed pattern from a nozzle on the valve button. The adaptor releasably attaches to the top of the spray can and includes an actuator mechanism for holding the depressible valve button down in the open position, thereby allowing the pressurized contents of the can to be released from the nozzle without the use of the operator's finger. The actuator mechanism is operable between an on position, to hold the valve button down, and an off position to release the valve button in order to close the spray can valve when it is desired to interrupt spraying.

  • Patent number: 4441633
Abstract: A manually operable trigger pump has a pump body, a circular cap disposed below the body and adapted to engage a container having material to be pumped out, a generally vertical trigger pivotally coupled at its upper end to the body and a linkage coupled at one end to the trigger intermediate its ends and extending from the coupled end into the body. The trigger has a surface adjacent the body. The surface has a longitudinally extending groove therein. A locking device is detachably securable to and is manually rotatable about the cap. A generally horizontal arm integral at one end with the device extends radially outward from the cap. The other end of the arm has a tip which is engagable with and disengagable from the trigger surface groove. The device is rotatable to a locked position at which the tip engages the groove. At this point, when the trigger is squeezed, the movement of the trigger is insufficient to actuate the pump.
