Flow Means Of One Fluid Surrounds The Other At Outlet Patents (Class 239/424)
  • Patent number: 7389941
Abstract: The present invention includes a nozzle device and method for forming a composite fluid. The nozzle device generally comprises a nozzle portion connected to a main body. The main body includes an inner axial bore extending therethrough. An annular wall extends radially therefore and an annulus extends from an outer perimeter of the annular wall. The annulus and the annular wall define an annular chamber at least partially open to the atmosphere. A portal fluidly communicates the bore with the annular chamber. The nozzle portion includes a converging nose section also having an internal axial bore extending therethrough. An annular collar extends from the nose section and disposes at least partially within the annular chamber. A first tube for transporting a first fluid disposes within the axial bore of the main body and nose section, terminating at an exit port of the nozzle section.

In a preferred embodiment, the system comprises a fuel injection nozzle (10) comprising a fluid flow passage (43) terminating at a discharge orifice (15) and incorporating a delivery port (33) defined between a valve seat (31) and a valve member (23) movable with respect to the valve seat for opening and closing the delivery port. Fuel is delivered along the fluid flow passage (43) into a combustion chamber through the discharge orifice (15) upon opening of the delivery port (33). The valve member (23) devines an inner boundary surface (47) of the flow passage (43) and the valve seat (31) defines at least part of an outer boundary surface (45) of the flow passage (43).

Abstract: The sprinkler includes the following structural members: a body (1) with a channel for liquid supply, a thermally responsive unit with a valve (4) closing the sprinkler outlet, and a thermally responsive unit attachment. In the first alternative embodiment a sprinkler channel is formed by a segment (10) of a cylindrical configuration connected with a segment (11) made as a conical diffuser. To generate a fine uniform gas-and-drop stream of a high kinetic energy and space-uniform distribution the cylindrical segment (10) length exceeds the channel diameter at this segment. The segment (11) length in the form of conical diffuser exceeds the channel diameter at the cylindrical segment (10). In the second alternative embodiment the sprinkler has two coaxial liquid supply channels. The length of the axial cylindrical channel exceeds its diameter. The second annular channel is coaxial to the first channel and fitted with helical guide components.

  • Patent number: 6935577
Abstract: A system and method for reducing fluid drainage into air passageways of a spray device during disassembly. The present technique provides an internally mountable fluid nozzle having a fluid inlet, a fluid exit, and a converging central passageway extending substantially between the fluid inlet and the fluid exit. Accordingly, the internally mountable fluid nozzle has a relatively small internal volume, which reduces the amount of fluid that can be spilled during disassembly of the spray device. The present technique also provides a section of the spray device having an air passageway with an air exit, and a protrusive fluid passageway with a fluid exit in a protrusive offset position from the air exit. The internally mountable fluid nozzle can be mounted to the section in fluid communication with the protrusive fluid passageway, such that fluid spillage or drainage during disassembly does not flow into the air passageway.

  • Patent number: 6915638
Abstract: A fuel injector for gas turbine engines includes an inlet fitting, a housing stem, and a spray nozzle. A pair of fuel passages in the stem deliver fuel in a primary (continuous) flow and a secondary (non-continuous or reduced) flow to primary and secondary discharge orifices in the nozzle. The fuel passages are defined by inner and outer concentric conduits, with the primary flow directed through the inner conduit, and the secondary flow directed through the outer conduit. Fins are provided unitary with the inner conduit along the length of the housing stem, and are fixed at their radial outer ends to the outer conduit. The fins provide structural support and thermally connect the inner and outer conduits. During low power operation, the fins transfer heat energy between the outer conduit to the inner conduit to cool the outer conduit and thermally protect the fuel in the secondary fuel passage.

  • Patent number: 6883733
Abstract: This invention provides a showerhead and method for allowing reaction gases to immediately mix upon release from gas outlets and minimize deposits of unwanted contaminants on the tip of a gas outlet and faceplate of the showerhead. A post having a central opening extends into the faceplate for emitting a first gas and is directly and circumferentially surrounded by an annular opening for emitting a second gas. The post may be recessed from, flush with or extend a distance past a frontal surface of the faceplate. A plurality of apertures, for emitting the second gas, may circumferentially surround the annular opening. The annular opening releases the second gas at a pressure and velocity sufficient to intermix with first gas released from the post while simultaneously forcing any unreacted gas and gaseous mixtures away from the tip of the post and frontal surface of the faceplate, thereby avoiding depositing contaminants thereon.
