Patent number: 4344578Abstract: A handled spray with a lever for controlling flow therefrom is formed principally from molded parts, and with a spring that normally restores a flow control valve to its closed, or no flow, position. The discharge end of the spray body includes a cup-shaped closure with flow apertures therethrough. The cup-shaped closure cooperates with a ring-shaped insert shaped and arranged to provide for centering, and to support thereon a pair of concentric seals one of which provides a seal for the spray body, and the other seal providing a seal seat for the spring biased valve member that is selectively movable by the spray's handle to a position at which flow occurs. The valve member and handle are interconnected and assembled through a laterally opening recess, defined at the upstream end of the valve member, and telescopically receiving thereinto a laterally elongated knuckle formed integrally on the handle.Type: GrantFiled: November 25, 1980Date of Patent: August 17, 1982Inventors: Sidney J. Shames, Harold Shames

Patent number: 4333608Abstract: This invention is an improved injection molding nozzle whereby the shut-off plunger is operated by a fluid and the opening of the nozzle is accomplished by the flow of plasticized material through the nozzle. A control rod internal to the nozzle controls the movement of the plunger shut-off member and is adjustable so that the amount of plasticized resin flowing through the nozzle can be accurately controlled.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 1980Date of Patent: June 8, 1982Assignee: Ex-Cell-O CorporationInventor: James W. Patent number: 4331173Abstract: A hydraulic system for feeding an action turbine comprising a rectilinear gate and an injector mounted in series on a conduit through which water is supplied to the turbine wherein the gate has a shut-off which is mounted in an outer body member for the injector, said shut-off having a seat member associated therewith, the injector including a needle valve which has a seat member associated therewith, said seats being located adjacent one another. The needle valve may have a support associated therewith and the shut-off for the gate may be located upstream thereof. The needle valve seat may be displaceable downstream to permit closing of the gate. In such position, the needle vale and its seat may be disassembled without emptying the water supply conduit.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 1980Date of Patent: May 25, 1982Assignee: Ateliers des Charmilles S.A.Inventor: Andre Culaud

Patent number: 4313570Abstract: An ultra high pressure water jet cutting nozzle is disclosed which comprises a lightweight poppet valve assembly coupled by a lost motion connection to a valve actuator. The poppet valve assembly seals directly to the jet-forming element of the nozzle insuring continuous high pressure fluid in the system at all times. The maintenance of constant high fluid pressure in the system protects the supply tubing of the system against damage due to pressure waves generated by repeated opening and closing of the valve assembly. The maintenance of continuous high fluid pressure also prevents dislodgement of the jet-forming element of the nozzle.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 1979Date of Patent: February 2, 1982Assignee: Flow Industries, Inc.Inventor: John H. Patent number: 4294409Abstract: The present invention includes a novel and unique combination poncho or rain garment with means adapted for suspending the poncho from an overhead object in a manner whereby a portion of the waterproof fabric of the poncho forms a baglike configuration for containing a quantity of water and a water dispensing means in the form of a shower head mounted in the poncho for allowing the water to be drawn from the reservoir in the bag configuration for use in washing and showering. The shower head is uniquely adapted for this purpose having an integral valve assembly which can be opened and allowed to close with the use of only one hand, as well as maintained in the full open position without the necessity of maintaining manual force on the valve operating mechanism.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 1979Date of Patent: October 13, 1981Inventor: Charles H. Larsen

Patent number: 4252278Abstract: A fire hose nozzle having a central tubular body member and tubular forward and rear body members carried at the respsective ends of said central body member. A pressure control cylinder is coaxially mounted in the tubular body member and a hydraulically balanced, tubular, slider member is mounted in the central body member for axial movement between an upstream position wherein the downstream end of the slider member is spaced from a cone on the upstream end of the pressure control cylinder, and a downstream position wherein the downstream end of the slider member engages the cone of the pressure control cylinder and shuts off flow through the nozzle. Manually movable means on the exterior of the central tubular body member is connected to the slider member and permits a user of the nozzle to vary the position of the downstream end of the slider member in the tubular body member with respect to the cone of the pressure control cylinder to thus modulate the rate of the flow of fluid through the nozzle.Type: GrantFiled: May 11, 1979Date of Patent: February 24, 1981Inventor: Clyde H. McMillan

Patent number: 4219162Abstract: A pistol grip spray nozzle for spraying a liquid comprises a nozzle body and a handle pivotally mounted on the nozzle body and movable by manual grip around the handle and nozzle body together to operate a valve within the nozzle body for controlling the flow of liquid issuing from the nozzle body. The handle and the body have co-operating male and female formations, one formation on the nozzle and the other formation on the handle. The male formation fits in the female formation with a snap action to provide the pivotal mounting of the handle on the body, the male and female formations being so arranged that pivoting of the handle to control the flow of fluid tends to maintain the male and female formations fitted together.Type: GrantFiled: May 9, 1978Date of Patent: August 26, 1980Assignee: Hozelock LimitedInventor: Roland Dadson

Patent number: 4182497Abstract: A gutter cleaning device adapted to remove leaves and other debris from household gutters is disclosed in which a generally flat blade-like working head is connected to an elongated hollow handle. Fluid, such as water from a garden hose, is directed through the handle and into the working head whereupon it exits through a plurality of discharge openings provided in each of the sidewalls in part forming the head so as to direct a plurality of streams along the inside surface of the gutter. The device may be moved back and forth or in one direction along the gutter and in this way the fluid stream serves to loosen and/or force leaves and debris in front of the working head to accordingly enable the gutters to be so cleaned.Type: GrantFiled: January 9, 1978Date of Patent: January 8, 1980Inventors: Richard A. Patent number: 4148438Abstract: An anti-siphon spray head has a housing and a chamber within the housing. An inlet and a plurality of spray openings communicate with the chamber. There is a flexible sleeve positioned within the chamber which masks the inlet to form an anti-siphon closure therewith. A movable valve member positioned within the chamber and within the flexible sleeve controls the flow of water from the inlet to the spray openings. There are means on the valve member which are in sealing contact with the flexible sleeve when the valve member is in a closed position.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 1977Date of Patent: April 10, 1979Assignee: Stanadyne, Inc.Inventor: Alfred M.
