  • Patent number: 4396156
Abstract: A hand-held spray gun comprises a pistol grip handle and a trigger that can be squeezed toward the pistol grip for actuating a poppet valve in the spray gun body to discharge fluid through a nozzle in the end of the spray gun. The poppet valve extends axially through a supply chamber which receives fluid passing to it through the interior of the pistol grip which, in turn, is connected to the source of the fluid, such as a liquid or gas. The supply chamber is sealed from a larger dispensing chamber through a seal carried on the poppet valve. The dispensing chamber communicates with long, narrow discharge passages in the nozzle end of the spray gun. The end of the poppet valve is enlarged to form a valve guide that slides back and forth in a valve guide cavity in the nozzle. A return spring in the cavity is biased against the face of the valve guide. The valve guide is sealed to the cavity to isolate the return spring from the fluid in the dispensing chamber.

  • Patent number: 4269359
Abstract: A valve intended primarily for use on the end of a supply hose for directing and controlling a high velocity stream of an abrasive granular material against an object. The valve has a handle with a usual discharge nozzle mounted on one end thereof, with the granular material supply hose being connected to the other end of the handle. A lever is pivotally mounted on the handle and is movable between open and closed positions with respect to the nozzle. The lever has a hand-actuated inner end portion and a nozzle sealing outer end portion. A spring is mounted on the lever and biases the lever toward closed position. A resilient sealing member is mounted on the outer end of the lever and forms a seal completely external of the nozzle against the open discharge end of the nozzle when the lever is in closed position. Magnets may be mounted on the handle and inner end of the lever and are mutually engageable when the lever is in open position to assist an operator in overcoming the biasing effect of the spring.

  • Patent number: 4262844
Abstract: A temperature-responsive valve for controlling the flow of fluid substantially without being affected by the pressure of or the turbulence generated by said fluid, comprises a housing having a chamber therein, an inlet port communicating with said outlet port communicating with said chamber, a temperature deflectable partition having an aperture and a tube. The tube extends from said inlet port past said aperture when the deflectable partition is in the position permitting a full flow of fluid. When the temperature of the fluid transmitted to said partition reaches a first predetermined value, the deflectable partition snaps to restrict with its surface the flow of fluid into said outlet port and remains in that position until the temperature of said fluid transmitted to said partition reaches a second predetermined value. The deflectable partition then snaps to permit the full flow of fluid into said outlet port.

  • Patent number: 4193553
Abstract: A hand-held shower head includes a housing which is cylindrical in shape and has a frusto-conical portion with a single orifice nozzle in the center thereof. A push-button actuator is positioned on the cylindrical side portion which in turn actuates a valve mechanism through a diaphragm seal. Water flows from an inlet opening through a lightly biased, normally closed valve which is operated through a plunger connected via the diaphragm to the push-button actuator, and out through a flow restricter and the single orifice nozzle. The push-button actuator is provided with stop means to limit the depression of the actuator.

  • Patent number: 4191332
Abstract: A flow control device for connection between a shower head and its supply pipe. The device consists of a fitting with one end attachable to the supply pipe and the other end attachable to the shower head. The fitting has a transversely slidable cylindrical valve element projecting on opposite sides of the fitting and provided with enlarged push buttons on its ends. The valve element has a peripheral groove which can be adjusted as to position in the bore of the fitting to give a desired rate of flow, or which can be moved away from the main bore to cause the valve element to shut off the flow, without requiring operation of the associated hot and cold water supply faucets. An air inlet passage is provided at the outlet side of the fitting to allow air to be aspirated into the water stream by venturi action, enabling the air to be mixed with the water in the spray head to thereby provide a regulated amount of aerated water in the shower head discharge.

  • Patent number: 4115066
Abstract: A high pressure mixing head is disclosed for combining a plurality of reactive fluid polymeric components to form a mixture thereof for molding purposes. The mixing head incorporates an expulsion plunger operating in a mixing chamber into which the several components are admitted through individual inlet openings which are covered and uncovered by reciprocation of the plunger. The mixing head further incorporates inlet valves and valve chambers located respectively upstream of the several inlet openings and so arranged that the inlet valves prevent admission of the individual components into the mixing chamber, irrespective of the plunger position, unless a predetermined pressure of the respective components is attained. Each valve chamber is connected to component feed and return lines forming part of the respective component circulating systems so that component flow at relatively low pressure takes place at all times between mixing/molding periods of operation.
