  • Patent number: 7789329
Abstract: A backpack sprayer having a tank with a filling opening at the top thereof and a pressure chamber therein is provided with filtering apparatus for preventing particles in the fluid in the tank from entering an inlet port of the pressure chamber located near the bottom of the tank when suction generated by a pump that depends from the bottom of the pressure chamber causes fluid in the tank to flow through the inlet port into the pressure chamber. The fluid pressurized by the pump flows through an outlet port from the pressure chamber for spraying when a valve in the nozzle at the end of a hose communicating with the outlet port is actuated by an operator. The filtering apparatus is provided by a filter in a frame removably captured in a fixture projecting outwardly from the outside of the pressure chamber on opposite sides of the inlet port.

Abstract: A filter for use with overhead sprinkler irrigation systems is disclosed. The filter includes a hollow cylindrical body, a removable screen, and a manually-actuated plunger adjacent the screen. The plunger is positioned for reciprocal movement through a debris outlet between an open, debris-discharging position, and a closed filtering position. The plunger defaults to the closed filtering position by pressurized water flowing through the body. The water is simultaneously filtered through the screen and passes out a clean water outlet while debris accumulates within the body. The plunger may be manually retracted to the open, debris-discharging position at any time, whereby accumulated debris is flushed out of the body through the debris outlet by residual water flowing therethrough.

  • Patent number: 7243865
Abstract: A nozzle for generating a high-pressure jet of a flowable medium, having a nozzle body and a nozzle disk which is embedded in the nozzle body in a recess. The nozzle body includes an axial nozzle bore which leads into at least one of an inlet bore and an outlet bore. The nozzle disk rests under compressive strain on contact surfaces of the recess. Also included is a method for creating a nozzle having a nozzle disk embedded in a nozzle body, the steps comprising: providing a nozzle disk; forming a nozzle body around the nozzle disk in a recess so as to create compressive strain on contact surfaces of the nozzle disk.

  • Patent number: 7232076
Abstract: A water spreader arrangement for use in an evaporative air cooler in which the spreader includes an inlet leading to generally vertical projections disposed over several levels. The projections are adapted to divide a single stream of water entering the inlet into many outlet streams, all of which have a predetermined ratio of flow rates. The outlet streams can be fed to an evaporative pad of an evaporative cooler. In a preferred form, the outlet streams have substantially the same flow rate. Preferably, a cooler incorporating this water spreader arrangement would include several spreaders around the upper periphery of the evaporative pads.

  • Patent number: 7207501
Abstract: Systems and methods for high volume, low pressure foam generation are provided that have a wide range of applications, particularly in fire fighting and fire prevention fields. The foam may be effectively delivered to targets that have heretofore been difficult, if not impossible, to reach in a timely, cost effective and/or efficacious manner. Nozzles and nozzle-containing systems are provided for combining water, injected foam and air to generate and/or deliver high volume, low pressure foam. The foam generation systems may be part of portable units that may be worn or otherwise supported by a user (e.g., a back pack), manually transported (e.g., a push cart), or transported with power-assistance (e.g., a power-assist cart). The systems may also be vehicle-mounted. Exemplary nozzle systems include a diffuser unit that facilitates aeration of the water and foam mixture that is fed to the nozzle system.

  • Patent number: 7201335
Abstract: A nozzle system is provided comprising a nozzle tip supported in a nozzle body with an alignment member. The alignment member has a connection for engaging a corresponding connection located on the nozzle body. The alignment member also has an aperture concentric with the sleeve that has a tapered engagement surface for contacting a tapered engagement surface on the nozzle tip. A first melt channel is defined through the nozzle body and a second melt channel is defined through the nozzle tip. The melt channel in the nozzle tip has a first section that extends along a first axis from an inlet, a second section that extends from the first section at an incline and a third section that extends from the second section parallel to and eccentric with the first axis. The resulting melt channel defines a straight through channel parallel to said first axis from said inlet to said opening.

  • Patent number: 7188785
Abstract: A paint reservoir has a fluid outlet (115) connectable to a spray gun (101) and a fluid inlet (131) provided with a removable screw cap (132) whereby the fluid inlet (131) is directly accessible for introducing paint to the reservoir while attached to the spray gun (101). The fluid outlet (115) and fluid inlet (131) may both be provided in an end wall of the reservoir with outlet (115) located on the longitudinal axis of the reservoir or offset to allow the size of the fluid inlet (131) to be increased for easier filling of the reservoir. The outlet (115) can be aligned with the longitudinal axis of the reservoir or it can be inclined relative to the longitudinal axis to provide greater clearance for access to the fluid inlet (131) when the reservoir is attached to the spray gun (101).
