Abstract: A golf ball marker includes a base and an ornamental inlay. The base defines a closed recess, and has a flat marginal surface surrounding the recess. The ornamental inlay is carried by the base, and held flush within the recess such that an outside surface of the inlay and the flat marginal surface of the base reside in substantially the same plane and form a substantially continuous smooth top surface of the ball marker.

Abstract: A system and method for securing accessories to shoes and other articles of clothing is described. One illustrative embodiment is a system for attaching a decorative accessory to a shoe, the system comprising a shaft having first and second ends; a first shoulder secured to the first end of the shaft, the first shoulder being configured for insertion through an expandable hole in an upper portion of the shoe and configured to engage an inner surface of the upper portion of the shoe; a second shoulder secured to the second end of the shaft, the second shoulder being configured to engage the shoe; and a third shoulder adjacent to the second shoulder, the third shoulder comprising the decorative accessory.

Abstract: A decorative cover for interchangeable attachment to buttons to change the appearance of the button. The decorative cover includes a base member with a hollow bore extending through at least one end thereof, and a decorative part permanently attached to an opposite end. An inner surface of the bore frictionally engages an outer edge of the button to retain the base member in place but permit it to be removed when desired. In one embodiment the base member is an elastomeric material having a durometer to enable the button to press into an inner surface of the bore. A detent may be provided in the bore to engage the button to assist in holding the decorative cover in place. In another embodiment the base member is longitudinally split into two semi-cylindrical segments that spread apart to enable a button to be engaged between them.

Abstract: A functionally decorative fastening system includes first and second fastener portions, each fixable to an article, so as to selectively allow for the articles to be secured together purposes such as transit, storage or laundering. Complementary mating surfaces of each fastener portion include decorative features, such as artwork, logos, trademarks, or the like. The decorative mating surfaces serve functionally to selectively lock the two fastener portions together when aligned and pushed together. Such integrated fastening is accomplished via mechanical interaction between the decorative mating surfaces.

Abstract: A removable securable interchangeable clothing button system, including, in combination: an object such as a jewel the visibility of which is desired, means for functionally supporting said object in a viewable position, means for holding said supporting means to a clothing button, releasable locking means adapted to be connected to the clothing at a position spaced from the object, and means for connecting said supporting means to said releasable locking means, said supporting means and locking means capable of alternatively attached to and detached from the clothing.

Abstract: A charm is provided including a body formed from a pliable material including an opening. A first member is at least partly inserted into the opening and is secured to the body. A cap is connected to the first member and is located external of the body. A method for securing such a cap to the charm is also provided.

Abstract: Ornate buttons with replaceable button faces are described as being applicable for clothing and other purposes using buttons as closures or decorations. In a preferred form, the button includes an anchor and a housing that cooperate to secure the button to a section of fabric or other material. A removable button face is received within the housing and can be replaced with other button faces having different aesthetic appearances.

Abstract: A decorative button has a body, connector and an inner cap. The body has an outline, a front surface formed with a pattern and a rear surface. The connector is attached to the rear surface of the body and has a sleeve having a distal end and a proximal end and a flange being formed perpendicularly on the distal end of sleeve. The inner cap has a stopper and a plug. The plug is formed centrally on and protrudes perpendicularly from the stopper and is mounted through and fastened in the connector and has a proximal end. The decorative button is mounted through existing holes in any objects to improve aesthetic appeal without being dangerous or causing damage.

Abstract: A snap fastener comprises a female part to be clamped on a first flap, for example of the fabric material, and a male part, to be clamped on another flap of the fabric material, in which the female part comprises an active element and a clamping element, the active element and clamping element having different surface finishings. Moreover, through the exposed to view part of the active female element are provided a plurality of openings, having different configurations, therethrough it is possible to see the top surface of the clamping element. With respect to prior snap fasteners, the inventive snap fastener has the advantage of providing chromatic effects, which can be easily obtained at the female part of the pushbutton.

Abstract: Disclosed is a button including a bottom plate with a flat first surface and a curved second surface; a stem extending perpendicularly from the bottom plate; a top plate with first and second surfaces, the first surface having a plurality of accepting grooves, and the second surface having a receptacle for the stem; and a connector configured to connect the stem to the receptacle of the second surface of the top plate. The button is configured to be fixed with the stem through a hole provided in a sheet and the top and bottom surfaces disposed on both sides of the sheet. The connector may comprise glue. The connector may be resilient. The second surface of the bottom plate may render low resistance to a movement in a direction parallel to the first surface of the bottom plate.

Abstract: A reversible fastener that can be positioned in one of two alternate display positions without removing the fastener from the underlying garment is provided. The unique configuration of the fastener allows it to be rotatably coupled to a garment in a manner that facilitates the reversibility of the fastener without requiring its removal. The reversible fastener is useful in a variety of applications including garments, jewelry and footwear. Further, one embodiment of the present invention is also useful in providing a structural anchoring assembly.

Initially, an article of apparel manufactured with a predetermined fiber is identified. Next, indicia indicative of the predetermined fiber is selected. Next, at least one button is manufactured with the indicia thereon for identifying the fiber from which the article of apparel is manufactured.

Abstract: A jewelry element includes a magnetic arrangement for ready substitution of multiple decorative elements. The element, which may be incorporated into a number of common jewelry pieces including a cuff link, earring, a stud for a tuxedo shirt, a ring or an pendant, includes a frame having a recessed central portion for receiving a decorative element. A pair of magnets is press-fit within a circular slot at the bottom of the recess and another magnet is adhesively-fixed to the bottom of the decorative element. An aperture in the bottom of the recessed portion of the frame provides access for a stylus for selectively dislodging the decorative element.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a cuff link for attaching to a shirtsleeve. The cuff link includes a holder and at least one insert member. The insert member is relesably retained in the holder by a pivotal latch member of the holder. The insert member can include an insert of various materials such as gems or precious metals.

Abstract: A synthetic resin opening and closing press fastener comprises a front side flat plate portion and a rear side flat plate portion which are attached to the end edges of a flat plate shaped attached body. One end of these portions are connected by means of a connecting portion that is a positioning portion of the end edge of the attached body, and has a number of male engaging elements of a surface fastener on the rear face of the rear side flat plate portion. In order to attach this opening and closing press fastener to the attached body, the fastener attaching end edge of the attached body is inserted from an open end of the front and rear side flat plate portions of the press fastener. When the above end edge abuts against the connecting portion, both of the flat plate portions are connected to each other via the attached body by means of synthetic resin pin members having at least engaging heads at one end.

Abstract: A cuff link includes a magnetic arrangement for ready substitution of alternative decorative elements. One or more links of the cuff link comprises a frame member that is magnetically engageable to a removable element having a decorative exterior surface. The frame and the removable element include mating semi-cylindrical internal surfaces that receive disk-shaped pluralities of magnets. The disk-shaped magnets are arranged so that, when the frame is engaged to the replaceable element, they are aligned along a common axis whereby lines of magnetic flux are axially-directed therethrough to provide a strong bond. An edge of the removable element is bevelled to assist the wearer in ready substitution of replaceable elements.

Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus which facilitates attachment of objects to fabrics of various thicknesses while minimizing damage to the underlying fabric. A device is provided which includes a backing member formed from a flexible, resilient material which is shaped to surround and engage a majority of the periphery of an object to be attached to fabric. The backing member has an inner peripheral wall and an outer peripheral wall opposite the inner peripheral wall. At least one continuous discontinuity passes through both the inner and the outer peripheral walls allowing the backing member to expand in order to receive objects of various size. Another aspect of the present invention provides a tensioning device which serves to bias the backing member into contact with the fabric and the object.
