Abstract: A writing instrument has an elongate body equipped with a pocket connector. The connector includes a leg secured to the body and a relatively ridged, elongate stem extending from the leg in generally parallel relationship with a face surface of the body to define a pocket receiving space therebetween. The stem has a remote spring engaging surface near an end of the stem remote from the leg. A pocket engaging leaf spring is disposed in the space and has ends in biased engagement with the remote spring surface and another spring surface near the leg. The spring is bowed such that a central portion of the spring is closer to the body face than the spring ends. The disclosed body is a scabbard which remains in a user's pocket when the writing implement is in use.

Abstract: A pen with push button is a pen which has a button on its barrel to control the exposure or closure of its pen point. When the button is pressed down by a finger, a thimble will retract to expose the pen point; when it is released, the thimble will close the pen point. The pen has an extending and retracting mechanism composed of a thimble, a button, and a spring.

Abstract: A cap is disclosed for writing instruments such as a mechanical pencil, a ball-point pen, and the like, and particularly a cap for writing instruments to which a safety measure is applied so that even if a curious infant should inadvertently swallow a cap, which as a result becomes lodged in his (or her) throat, passage of air is maintained. The cap includes a closed-end tubular cap body and a body piece fitted in a mounting opening provided with a suitable opening shape at a closed rear end thereof. The body piece is formed to have a shape adapted and matched to an open shape of the mounting opening of the cap body, and a plurality of air ventilating depressions communicate with the interior of the cap body along the edge are provided at the side edge along the open edge of the mounting opening, whereby even if a curious infant should inadvertently swallow a cap, which as a result becomes lodged in his (or her) throat, passage of air is maintained.

Abstract: A writing instrument that may be secured or attached to an article, such as a credit card. The inventive writing instrument is configured in the form of a cylindrical casing having at least two opposingly biased resilient jaws or projections extending therefrom, a writing element disposed within said casing and a cap for covering the writing point of the writing element. A credit card or similar article can be easily and conveniently inserted between the resilient jaws or projections and will be securely retained therein.

Abstract: A removable cap of the invention is used for an elongated or writing instrument. The cap is formed of a hollow main body, a supporting member projecting laterally from a side wall of the main body, and a clip projecting from a side of the supporting member. The main body includes an end opening at one side thereof, through which the elongated instrument is removably inserted into the hollow main body. The supporting member has a through hole therein. When the cap is accidentally swallowed and held in a throat, a fluid or air path is established in the supporting member.

Abstract: A writing instrument is provided which includes a body having a barrel portion and a plunger portion. The barrel portion has opposed front and rear ends for housing a replaceable writing cartridge and a spring for biasing the cartridge toward the rear end of the barrel portion. The plunger portion is removably maintained in the rear end of the barrel portion and is configured for moving the cartridge between a retracted portion and a protracted position and for rotational and axial movement with respect to the center line of the barrel portion for removing the plunger portion to replace the cartridge. A clip member is pivotably mounted to the body of the writing instrument and includes a latch for selectively engaging the body of the writing instrument when the cartridge is in a protracted position.

Abstract: A writing instrument slip attachment mechanism is disclosed which prevents the clip (3) from becoming separated from the writing instrument. The clip attachment mechanism located on the writing instrument shaft (1) includes a clip (3) having a folded back base section (4); and a clip attachment section (2) having cooperatively shaped outer and inner surfaces (2A, 2B) for operatively engaging said folded back base section (4); and a cover (5) for attachment to said clip attachment to said clip attachment section (2). The base section (4) of the clip (3) is press-fitted into the outer and inner surfaces (2A, 2B) of the clip attachment (2). The cover (5) cover the press-fitted base section (4) and preferably also helps to lock the base section (4) to the clip attachment section (2), by use of co-operatively shaped convex and concave surfaces formed between the cover and clip attachment section (2).

Abstract: A cap is provided for a writing instrument to eliminate a potential threat to safety when swallowed. The cap permits easy assembly of an inner cap into an outer shell without using any tools. The cap has an outer shell and a tip seal member (inner shell) fitted in the outer shell to form an air passage therebetween. The outer shell has a rectangular recess at one end and an annular projection on the inner surface adjacent to a bottom edge of the rectangular recess, and snap-fit projection is engageable with a barrel of the writing instrument. The tip seal member has a coupling device for holding a clip, a plurality of first and second projections frictionally engageable with the inner surface of the outer shell so that when the coupling device of the tip sealing member is press-fitted to the rectangular recess, the first projections are engaged with the annular projection of the outer shell.

Abstract: The tubular main body of a writing instrument has a cylinder the writing end of which is formed to include a cap-fitting portion. A gripping portion, which is formed on the cylinder below the cap-fitting portion, has an outer peripheral surface provided with a number of annular slip-preventing grooves. A cap detachably fitted on the cap-fitting portion of the cylinder includes a clip extending axially to a point in the vicinity of the gripping portion. The clip has an engaging projection formed on an underside thereof for engaging one of the slip-preventing grooves of the gripping portion when the cap is attached. When the writing instrument is clipped to the fabric on the outer side of a shirt or jacket pocket, the engaging projection on the clip and the slip-preventing groove of the gripping portion on the cylinder of the tubular main body engage each other via the fabric clamped between them.

Abstract: A rear pen portion (12) has a notch (18) defined longitudinally therein from a dividing wall (22) to an upper end. A front pen portion (10) has a caricature of a face (14) molded therein and is permanently secured to the rear pen portion. The notch defines a paper access slot longitudinally above the dividing wall. A roll (32) of perforated paper is received in a paper cavity (26) above the dividing wall. A top (36) closes the paper cavity. A cap (40) protects a nib (30) or other writing point from damage and drying out. A pocket clip (50) which is slidably received on the cap has at least a pair of hands (58) which reach over and grasp a user's pocket or other mounting surface.

Abstract: A cap includes a cap body and a clip attached to the cap body. The cap body has a small portion in a tip side thereof, and the sectional shape of the small portion is smaller than that of the adjacent portion. The clip has an annular mounting portion mounted on the outside of the small portion. An air passage is formed between the mounting portion and the small portion, and adapted for communicating a space before the tip side end with a space between the clip body and the cap body in a tail side portion of the cap. Alternately, a cap is formed with a first air passage between the mounting portion and the small portion for communicating a space before the tip end of the mounting portion and a space after the tail end of the mounting portion, a second air passage formed in the cap body for communicating a space before the cap body and a space after the cap body, the first air passage being connected to the second air passage.

Abstract: A pocket clip stamped from metal strip material, fastened at its one end to the tubular part of a writing instrument and at its other end resiliently biased into contact with the tubular part, has at its fastening end two bent-back, tab-like material sections which reach through an opening into the interior of the tubular part. The tab-like material sections are curved at their free end portions situated inside of the tubular part, in a plane situated at right angles to the longitudinal central axis of the tubular part, with their concave sides facing one another, while their curved end portions engage with bias a locking component that is circular is cross section and is inserted from the open end into the tubular part. In an intermediate area still within the tubular part there is provided an open-ended slot in each of the tab-like material sections, enabling the curved end portions of the tab-like material sections to flex resiliently within the tubular part.

Abstract: A clip assembly for an elongated instrument which includes a base portion, a resilient elongated member extending from the base portion and means extending from the base portion dimensioned for insertion into an aperture defined by the elongated instrument for snap-locking engagement therewith and attachment of the base portion thereto. In its preferred form the elongated instrument is a pen which includes a body member having a reservoir of writing medium and a writing tip, a cap member configured and dimensioned for mating engagement with the body member; and a clip. The clip includes a base portion, a resilient elongated member extending from the base portion; and means extending from the base portion configured and dimensioned for insertion into an aperture defined by the body or cap member of the writing instrument for snap-locking engagement therewith and attachment of the base portion thereto.

Abstract: The invention relates to a writing instrument cap and clip therefor. The cap has secured thereto an immovable end piece made rotationally integral with the cap by the heel portion of the clip being sunk into a notch in the cap.

Abstract: A pocket clip made by stamping in one piece from spring metal, which is securely attached to a metal writing instrument, such as a fountain pen or ball point pen simply by pushing it, manually or by machine, into an opening provided in the cap or barrel of the writing instrument, whereupon the clip automatically locks itself onto projections extending from the sides of the opening.

Abstract: A pen comprises an elongated one-piece barrel having substantially rigid tip end and head end portions joined to each other by an intermediate integral flexible portion, whereby the barrel can be bent at the flexible portion, and a writing tip at the distal end of the tip end portion. A substantially rigid tubular cap member is telescopically received over the tip end portion of the barrel such that it can be moved along the barrel between (1) a retracted position in which it overlies part of the tip end portion and substantially all of the flexible portion, thus exposing the writing tip for use and rendering the pen substantially rigid, and (2) an extended position in which it covers the writing tip and leaves the flexible portion exposed, thus protecting the writing tip and rendering the pen flexible. Interengaging rib and groove couplings on the cap and the tip end portion of the barrel releasably retain the cap member in each of the retracted and extended positions.

Abstract: A cap device for securing an instrument, such as a ballpoint pen, to a web of flexible material. The device comprises a stem portion and a body portion which collectively define a first, second and third surface, with the first surface being disposed between the second and third surfaces. The surfaces are disposed in a spaced array to form a longitudinally extending gap which is serpentine in cross section and arranged for receipt of the web of material to bend the web about the surfaces to accomplish a substantially non-traumatic gathering of the web by the device. The device is slidable from a first position wherein it covers the tip of the writing instrument to a second position wherein the tip is exposed. Means are provided to ensure that the device does not slide off the instrument.

Abstract: A low-cost combined nail file and writing implement clip attachment is formed of a T shaped blank of sheet metal. The T shaped blank includes a short transverse strip portion connected by way of a narrowed connecting link to the top of a longitudinal strip portion which is widened and has its surface coated with an abrasive material to enable it to function as a nail file. The narrowed connecting link facilitates the shaping of the short transverse strip portion into a circular holder and the repositioning of the holder with respect to the widened longitudinal strip portion without causing the metal in the vicinity of the juncture of the strips to fracture.
