Abstract: A necktie fastening device including a pair of securing members that are attachable to the severed, central ends of a conventional necktie that has been severed in half with a pair of scissors or the like. Each securing member is formed from a flexible material that has been formed to create a first, second, and third flap member. The first and second flap members each have a quantity of adhesive deposited on areas thereof that face away from one another and which are covered with a flexible removable section of cover material. An elongated flexible pull tab is secured to each removable section. In use, the adhesive is placed in contact with the interior surface of the tie through the severed central end and forms an attachment between the necktie fabric and the securing member with the central lining of the necktie disposed between the first and second flap members.

Abstract: A shoe fastening attachment device comprising a buckle with a structure for mounting the buckle to a pair of eyelets on a first side flap of a shoe. An elongated flexible strap is provided, with a facility for mounting a first end of the elongated flexible strap to a pair of eyelets on an opposite second side flap of the shoe. Paraphernalia on an upper face of the elongated flexible strap is for releasably securing portions of the upper face together, after a second end of the elongated flexible strap is inserted through the buckle and the elongated flexible strap is looped back upon itself in an overlapping manner.

Abstract: A footwear fastening system and a method of converting lace fastened footwear to hook-and-loop fastened footwear comprising hook-and-loop fastener strips which are secured to the footwear by means of a lace which passes through adjacent eyelets along each upper side of the footwear. The fastener strips are anchored to one upper side with the lace and are passed beneath the lace on the other upper side and tensioned to draw the upper sides together into a snug fit. Tubular posts may be disposed between the eyelets and laced to the upper sides by the lace.

Abstract: A connector means including shoe connector means comprising a plurality of improved ridges configured using an improved injection mold design so that inverted ridge means may be nested between and gripped by certain of the ridges. The connector means also includes means to confirm complete, adjusted interlock of the nested ridges. Additionally disclosed are products that would incorporate such connector means. Also disclosed is improved, chisel-like, ridge hook design suitable for strong connectors with little or no mechanical resistance to connection. Improved, generally rectangular, rigid, ridge design for toy building blocks is also disclosed. Also disclosed is improved hook for hook and loop fasteners with connector members suitable for injection molding. An injector mold design suitable for manufacturing ridge-type connectors or hook-type connectors for hook and loop connectors is disclosed. Also disclosed is an improved, adjustable tongue and double-buckle connector for straps.

Abstract: A mounting bracket assembly is particularly adapted for demountable attachment to the glass pane of a window. The bracket assembly utilizes a hook and loop type fastener and a two piece bracket assembly which permits interchangeable use of different main support arms. One type of support arm may, for example, be used to mount a bird feeder. The hook and loop fastening system provides a reliable replacement for suction cup fasteners which do not function in periods of extended cold temperatures.

Abstract: A load spreading belt includes a buckle closure and an elongated flexible strap having a pair of ends. A pad of locking catches is mounted on one end of the strap and a pad of catch receivers is mounted on another end of the strap. When the strap encircles a load to be retained in position, the ends of the strap overlap such that the locking catches and catch receivers are in mating engagement. The buckle includes a top and a base. A rear plate and a pair of posts spaced from the rear plate, extend between the top and the base and define a passage therebetween. One end of the strap extends through the passage with the locking catches extending outwardly on either side of each post to removably retain the buckle on the strap. In one embodiment a door is hingedly attached to the base of the buckle and closes around the strap ends when the locking catches and catch receivers are in mating engagement.

Abstract: Opposed ends of a bundling strap are inserted through an anchor and folded back upon respective segments of the strap. Pressure sensitive adhering elements having high shear strength and low tensile strength retain the strap ends adjacent the respective segments of the strap.

Abstract: A clip for alternatively draping one of two structures, the first structure having a top surface, an underside surface, and a peripheral edge; the second structure having a rod support member, includes a face portion having front and back surfaces. The back surface contacts the peripheral edge of the first structure. A first leg is perpendicularly disposed to and extends rearwardly from the back surface. The first leg contacts the top surface of the first structure. A slide member is disposed adjacent the back surface and is movable between the first and second ends of the face portion. The slide member includes a linear portion for engaging the underside surface of the first structure of various sized peripheral edges. The slide member includes a plurality of fasteners. The clip includes a second leg having a curvilinear portion that extends rearwardly from the back surface of the face portion for engaging the rod support member. The curvilinear portion has first and second ends.

Abstract: A molded curtain attachment connector for connecting a curtain hanger member and the top edge of a curtain includes a fastener member having a fastener surface releasably engageable with the fastener surface of a surface-type separable fastener member attached to the curtain along a top edge thereof, a hook member integrally formed with the fastener member and adapted to be attached to, and detached from, the curtain hanger member, and a blocking means disposed at the opening of the hook member for preventing another article from entering the hook member through the opening, the blocking means being deformable toward the inside of the hook member when subjected to an external force of a predetermined intensity. The molded curtain attachment connector thus constructed can be manufactured with high production efficiency, facilitates the curtain attaching/detaching operation, ensures smooth opening and closing operation of the curtain, and can be colored in various manners.

Abstract: A fastener of the hook and loop type intended to be incorporated into plastic articles by plastic molding processes is formed of a known separable fastener member having a base member and a plurality of engaging elements upstanding from one surface thereof. A vinyl plastisol, thermoplastic, or rubber encasement which intimately surrounds the individual engaging elements protects the elements when they are exposed to the harsh environment of a molding process. The fastener is placed in a mold and molded into, as an integral part thereof, a plastic part. The encasement is removable from the engaging elements after the molding process, to expose the engaging elements, without permanently deforming or substantially destroying the fastening performance thereof.

Abstract: A joint structure for joining two panel-like components includes a fitting pin member having a flange portion and pin portions equivalent to a dowel. One strip of a surface-type fastener having a number of identical fastener elements is provided on opposite surfaces of the flange portion. A mating surface of each of the panel-like components has a recessed portion for being fitted with the flange portion, and a pin hole formed in a bottom surface of the recessed portion. The other strip of the surface-type fastener which is engageable with the surface-type fastener strip is disposed on the bottom surface of the recessed portion. The two surface-type fastener strips are firmly engaged together when the flange portion and the pin portions are fitted in the recessed portions and the pin holes, respectively, so that the two panel-like components are firmly joined together.

Abstract: An extruded hook fastener strip is created on a roll having hook forming cavities in its surface by extruding plastic material into the interface between the forming roll and a second strip carried by a backing roll. The second strip is firmly bonded to the fastener strip on that side opposite the formed hooks.

Abstract: A retention system for an automotive window assembly includes a window insertable onto a recessed generally L-shaped peripheral flange of a flanged window aperture formed in an automotive vehicle body, with the window being adhesively secured to the peripheral flange. The window assembly also has an interior window trim member for covering the interior side of the flange and an edge of the window and an exterior window trim for covering the exterior of the flanged window aperture and an edge of the window. The system further includes a hook and loop type fabric fastening means for securing the window to the flange, for securing the interior trim to the interior side of the flange and for securing the exterior trim member to the window and the exterior body panel.

Abstract: A body of materials assembled in such a way so as to provide a means of holding or suspending the device itself, and a ball mitt or glove, from a separate structure such as the fence of a dugout or ball diamond. This is achieved with the use of a strap 12, or adjustable strap 100, 102. The device has the capacity to hold a ball glove by a gripping appendage, the clip 60. The clip 60 holds the ball glove while the glove is not in use during a ball game such as during at-bats or while stored. Additionally, the device provides a means of holding a small personal item, such as a set of keys (key strap 30), simultaneously with the ball mitt or glove during a ball game. An optional secondary use allows one to store the ball mitt or glove with a ball in the pocket and hold the ball there with the use of the adjustable strap 100 or 102. This provides a way to maintain the most desirable shape of the ball mitt or glove.

Abstract: A leash is described for attachment between an article such as a fishing rod and a relatively stationary surface. The leash includes an elongated elastic member resiliently stretchable between first and second member ends. A strap connector is provided at the first end, adapted to be wrapped about and attached to an article such as a fishing rod. A clip is provided at the second end of the elongated elastic member. A keeper including a pair of elastic member receiving apertures is oriented transversely to the elastic member and is mounted along the member length between the first and second ends. The elastic member is slidably threaded through both elastic member receiving apertures. A clip anchor point is also provided on the keeper. The keeper is selectively adjustable along the length of the elastic member at selected distances from the second end.

Abstract: A laminate is provided that includes a sheet of loop material laminated to a sheet of metallized flexible material. The laminated sheets are coextensive in size and are permanently joined together so that one does not slide with respect to the other. A strip of hook material can also be provided for securement purposes whereby the laminate is secured to itself along an edge portion or whereby the loop surface of the laminate is secured to a portion of a device to be protected.

Abstract: Disclosed is a clip-on garter for retaining a sock fully upright while being worn within a boot whereby preventing sliding of the sock into the boot cavity caused by movement of a user's foot relative the boot. The clip-on garter comprises a boot clip member clampedly attachable to the boot at the top edge of the leg opening. The boot clip member is formed of an elongated strip of resilient plastic or metal folded back against itself to form an inverted U-shaped structure having generally parallel inside and outside tension arms. The two arm ends define a clamping zone therebetween wherebetween the edge of the boot opening may be retained. A strip of pile fabric material is disposed on the inside arm such that the sock fabric engages with the pile fabric material whereby the top edge of the sock is retained adjacent the top edge of the boot leg opening for preventing the sock from sliding down into the boot cavity.

Abstract: A quick adjusting shoe lacing system. The system has a cinch plate having eyelets which are spaced apart to about the same distance as eyelets formed in the lacing area of the shoe. The shoe laces are laced through the cinch plate eyelets along with the eyelets in the lacing area of the shoe. A strap, fixably attached at a lower end to the shoe and loopable at an upper end through a slot in the cinch plate is used to adjustably pull the cinch plate and the shoe laces looped through its eyelets downwardly and thus increase the shoe lace tension. Alternatively, a latching buckle linked to the cinch place via a wire loop can be used to affect changes in lace tension. These changes in lace tension can be affected even after the shoe laces are laced and tied up, offering the ability to make quick and fine adjustments to shoe laces.

Abstract: A decorative attachment for a lace-up type shoe which simulates a fold-down shoe tongue. A tongue simulating portion, having a top surface and a bottom surface, a top end and a bottom end, substantially covers a lace and knot portion of the shoe. The tongue simulating portion is preferably tapered to be narrower at the bottom end than at the top end. A decorative indicia is silkscreened to the top surface of the tongue simulating portion, and preferably represents a foot of a mascot for an athletic team. A strap extends from the end of the tongue simulating portion and is folded under the laces of the shoe. The strap has an upper surface which lies adjacent the lower surface of the tongue simulating portion when the strap is folded under the laces of the shoe and sandwiches the laces between the bottom surface of the tongue simulating portion and the upper surface of the strap. The tongue simulating portion and the strap are cut from a single sheet of leather, canvas or plastic material.

Abstract: A surfboard has ribbed or corrugated side rails for improved strength without an increase in weight. In a first embodiment, the board comprises a rigid, buoyant foam core, over which a rigid shell is formed, the shell having side rails with at least one external longitudinal rib. In a second embodiment, the board comprises an injection-molded plastic shell, into which a buoyant foam material is injected. The shell is formed with at least one internal longitudinal rib along each side rail. A portion of the top surface of the surfboard is covered with a layer of unbroken loop nylon material overlying a layer of closed cell foam material to form a resilient, non-abrasive, slip-resistant, water-repellent mat. A foot piece having a sole portion of unbroken loop nylon material is removably attachable to the mat by a double-sided patch of fibrous hook material.

Abstract: A monaural stethoscope attached to a holder having a hook and loop fastening system. The holder is configured such that when the loop fastening material is folded up on itself, it mates with the hook fastening material to form a closed loop for retaining the coiled tubing of the monaural stethoscope. A pin fastener, such as a safety pin, is attached to the back of the holder so that the holder can be pinned to a medical garment, such as an anesthesiologist's scrub suit.

Abstract: A clasp for cloth neckwear and the like including a first clamping member designed to substantially encircle a first end of the neckwear and fixedly clamp the first end in a retained position, a second clamping member designed to substantially encircle a second end of the neckwear and fixedly clamp the second end in a retained position, and clasping means mounted on the first and second clamping members, the clasping means being manually engageable and disengageable for forming the neckwear into a continuous loop about the neck of a wearer. The neckwear is tied with a standard knot and severed in the back to provide the two ends and the clamping members are affixed to the ends after stretching the cloth slightly.

Abstract: A body mountable carrier for carrying a detachable device such as a portable phone, tool, appliance or the like. The carrier has a firm mounting panel to which is attached an elastic strap. The panel and the strap are joined together with mating interlocking fastening materials and can be mounted on an arm with one hand or on a leg. The panel provides a back plane for attachment of the detachable device.

The mounting object body is formed as a heat-resistant material integral with a metallic two-dimensional fastener by covering and fixing part of the fastener elements of the metallic two-dimensional fastener with a carbon powder having a high melting temperature and covering bases thereof with a metallic powder, a ceramics powder, or a mixture thereof which is molded and sintered.

Abstract: A fastening member of the type characterized by having a base carrying on one side thereof gripping fastener hooks for mating connection with complementary gripping fastener fibrous patches. A protective cover engages the base for enclosing the hooks against leakage of molding liquid past the film onto the hooks to protect the hooks against clogging by a molding liquid when molding the fastening member into a molded article in a mold. In the improvement according to the invention, a flexible, granular ferromagnetic attachment strip is provided, and is positioned in overlying relation on top of the hooks. The attachment strip extends along the length of the fastening member within the area enclosed by the temporary thin protective film for being attracted to a magnet in the mold. The ferromagnetic attachment strip temporarily holds the fastening member by magnetic attraction in the mold during the molding process.

The coupling faces of the disk-shaped flanges face each other and have a plurality of identical coupling elements which cooperate by interlocking when the top part engages the bottom part. The coupling elements can be rows of pins having heads. The heads of the pins on the top part engage with those on the bottom part when the top part engages with the bottom part.

Abstract: A clip securement assembly includes a hairpin-shaped clip made of a continuous strip of resiliently flexible flat stock and having an elongated base member, an attachment member and an auxiliary clip member for removable insertion on the top and bottom surfaces of an edge portion of a table top so as to retain a tablecloth thereon. The clip securement assembly also includes a pair of complementary detachable fastening elements for releasably attaching the base member of the clip to a bottom side of an article of dinnerware, such as a plate, for anchoring the plate on the tablecloth on the top surface of the table top. One of the pair of complementary fastening is attached on a terminal end portion of the base member of the clip, while the other of the pair of fastening elements is attachable on the bottom surface of the plate. The fastening elements are aligned and pressed together to anchor the plate firmly to the base member of the clip and thus on the top surface of the table top.

Abstract: A mounting member for removably securing conventional items, such as flip up and down glasses, compasses, pedometers, pouches, purses, cases, clips, holding members, flashlights or pen lights, and watches to support articles, such as baseball caps, head sweat bands, clothing, footwear, parts of a person's body, posts, steps, and moldings where the support articles have convex, concave or stepped surfaces, the mounting member being provided with transverse hinges between sections thereof to permit the sections to pivot both upwardly and downwardly relative to each other so that the mounting member can be positioned on a curved article, where the hinges can have flexible accordian-like portions to permit the sections to pivot or swing transversely from side to side relative to each other to provide a curved arrangement. One of the sections can include an adjustment member to position the flip up and down glasses relative to a wearer's eyes.

Abstract: Ready Wrap is a weatherproof, scratch resistant covering for hard to cover items. It is a material that can be bought in random lengths from a large roll and then hemmed with an ordinary cigarette lighter. Ready Wrap shall be available in a variety of widths in order to suit a variety of differing needs. Ready Wrap has Velcro attached along both edges (FIG. 1 ) so that it may be folded over bringing the Velcro hooks and loops in contact with each other forming a sealed envelope (FIGS. 3 & 6). Ready Wrap also may contain Velcro cross-striping (see FIG. 1 , also FIGS. 2-7), this allows for sealed ends of this folded envelope to be achieved (FIGS. 3 & 6, also FIG. 4 ). Ready Wrap may also have a strip of Velcro running along the underside (FIG. 2 ) allowing for it to be rolled over on itself thereby creating a tubular form (FIG. 5 ). The ends of this tubular form may then be sealed by pressing the Velcro cross-striping together. Imagine FIG. 5 compressed along its horizontal axis.

Abstract: A disposable absorbent garment includes a moisture impervious outer layer, a nonwoven moisture pervious inner layer, an absorbent layer sandwiched and encased between the inner and outer layers, with the sandwiched layers having opposed first and second waist edges and two opposed side margins. The garment further includes a fastener or closure system comprising a pair of gripping strips or extensions from each of the side margins along the second waist edge, each gripping strip having a plurality of first resiliently deformable connectors integrally formed therein. The fastener system further includes a pair of targets located on the outer layer along the first waist edge adjacent each side margin, each target having a plurality of second connectors integrally formed thereon which are adapted to engage the first connectors of the gripping strips. The first and second connectors comprise interlocking means of the fastener system and include a plurality of interlockable projections and receptacles.

Abstract: A strap assembly for securing a bow string release mechanism to the hand of an archer includes a substantially rigid base to be held in the palm of the hand with the bow string release mechanism projecting outwardly from the base through the space between the thumb and forefinger and a strap secured to the base for wrapping around the hand of the archer to secure the base to the hand. The base may be foldable over the strap to remove the base and bow string release mechanism from the palm of the hand for freeing the hand of the archer for other functions without removing the strap assembly.

Abstract: A method for attaching articles of clothing together, which method includes the use of a plastic tape which has been coated on both sides with releasable adhesive, which releasable adhesive has been selected so as to be appropriate for the specific qualities of the articles which are to be attached together. The suitability of the releasable adhesives for the particular articles is indicated directly on the sides of the tape by words, color, or other indication means.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a bra strap retainer that is in the form of an elongated flexible string-like retainer that is adapted to be attached to the shoulder portion of an upper garment or to an upper garment accessory such as a shoulder pad. In a fully attached mode the string-like brassiere strap retainer forms a closed loop and the brassiere strap is threaded through the formed loop and is securely confined within that loop assuring that the bra strap does not fall down the sleeve of the subject wearing the same.

Abstract: A unitary medical conduit holder for securing medical conduits to the skin of a patient is made of two major portions which are sonically welded or otherwise attached to one another. The first portion is a base plate or patch for adhesively securing to the skin. The second portion is a strap with wide and narrow ends which fold in opposite directions fully encircle the conduit or a bundle of conduits. Complementary pressure sensitive VELCRO type attachment surfaces are present on the upper surfaces of the base plate and the strap. In the final use position the externally exposed parts of both the base patch and the strap are smooth so as not to snag on surrounding materials. The surface of the strap which contacts the bottom of the conduit is made of or coated with a high friction material to prevent axial slipping of the encircled conduit. Typical conduits which may be conveniently held in place with this invention include tubes, lumens, catheters, electrical wiring, and optical fibers.

Abstract: The present invention provides an improved utility strap and method for using same for general binding purposes. The strap of the present invention provides a strip of material which includes hook-and-loop attachment means on both sides of one end of the strap, and complementary hook-and-loop material on both interior faces of a Y-shaped element anchored to the opposite end of the strap. Attachment is achieved by securing the first end of the strap within the Y-shaped element. The present invention provides all the benefits of ease of use found with conventional hook-and-loop binding devices, but is far more secure and durable.

Abstract: The present invention shows a golf ball marker is shown in which a marker component, a disk of plastic or metal or some other material, may be provided with some element of decoration on its top surface. The marker component also has a layer of one part of hook and loop binder material on its bottom surface. The bottom surface may also be pierced by a peg or post at its center, to the secure the Marker's position when in use on a putting green.The golf ball marker also has an attachment component which is, at least in part, a second disk having its top surface provided with the second and mating part of hook and loop binder material. This attachment component may be attached to any convenient object, such as the handle of a golf putter or a hat or glove. This attachment component may also be provided with a tie tack attachment means for attachment to the user's clothing.

Abstract: A jewelry clasp is comprised in part of hook and loop fastener material, such as that available under the brand name VELCRO. A piece of fastener material is glued or otherwise attached to a plastic or metal backing which acts as a first gripping member. The curved (preferably spoon-shaped) first gripping member has a circular eye-screw link protruding out from one side, which link may be tied onto or otherwise linked to one end of a standard necklace string or chain, so as to be more or less permanently secured thereto. A piece of fastener material of opposite type is attached to a generally congruently-shaped second backing or gripping member, which material and gripping member, when linked with an eye-screw to the other end of the necklace, form the second half of the clasp. The two gripping members mate together with relatively loose tolerances.

Abstract: A device for immovably securing an endotracheal tube after it had been inserted into the airway of the patient. A pair of supports are removably fastened to the air inlet end of the tube. A belt is secured to the supports and snugly positioned around the neck of the patient. Each end of the belt includes complementary coupling means for removably fastening on to one of the supports. An adhesive strip is positioned on the belt between the ends thereof for adhering to the back of the neck. The supports may include a pair of jaws acting as a spring for tightly embracing the tube.

Abstract: An improved medical garment is provided which consists of a flexible fabric shell for enveloping a portion of a body and two limbs of a patient. The flexible fabric shell has a first overlapping openable seam on the front covering the portion of the body, a second overlapping openable seam on a first side covering the first limb and a third overlapping openable seam on a second side covering the second limb. A first structure is for releasably fastening the first overlapping openable seam, so that the flexible fabric shell can be put on and taken off the body of the patient. A second structure is for releasably fastening the second overlapping openable seam for a quick easy access to the first limb. A third structure is for releasably fastening the third overlapping openable seam for a quick easy access to the second limb.

Abstract: A seat belt adjustment band is provided which changes the location of the shoulder belt. The seat belt adjustment band removably attaches to an existing vehicle seat belt assembly. The seat belt adjustment band is connected the shoulder belt and to the lap belt effectively changing the location of the shoulder belt to keep the shoulder belt from rubbing against the face of or neck of the wearer. Band is adjustable and can slide along the lap belt to position the shoulder belt to any angle. This affords adjustment which is individualized for the comfort of any user.

The holders are adapted to be wrapped around the foregrip of a fishing rod and held in place by a plurality of hooks and loops. Abstract: A shoelace replacing and fastening device comprising an elongated strip, a strip insert and a clap. Rivet fasteners are used to secure the clasp on one shoe eyelet and to secure the elongated strip to the opposite shoe eyelet of where the clasp is located. The elongated strip is made of a flexible plastic material and has openings for releasably receiving a strip insert at one end of the elongated strip. The strip insert is made of a relatively rigid but flexible plastic material. The elongated strip and the strip insert have a plurality of interlocking hook elements. The hook elements of the strip insert are designed to interlock with the plurality of hook elements of the elongated strip. The clasp is fastened on a shoe eyelet, and the elongated strip fastened on the opposite shoe eyelet to that of where the clasp is fastened.

Abstract: A strap of extended length having a surface of either hook or loop elements forming part of a hook and loop fastener system is combined with a D-ring. The D-ring has a first tab, extending from one side thereof and has on one surface of the tab a multiplicity of engaging elements for engaging companion hook or loop elements on said strap. A second tab extends from the opposite side of the D-ring and has means for attaching the D-ring to another object.

Abstract: A connector assembly for removably holding a glove where the glove has a glove attachment device connected thereto. The connector assembly includes a holder which is foldable at a fold position. A first permanent magnet is connected to one portion of the holder and a second permanent magnet is connected to another portion of the holder. A holder attachment device is connected to the holder. A portion of the holder is removably disposed in a pocket and another portion of the folder extends over a pocket flap and position so that the first and the second permanent magnets are magnetically connected to magnetically connect the holder to the pocket. The glove attachment device is removably connectable to the holder attachment device for removably connecting the glove to the holder.
