Patent number: 7469869Abstract: A two-piece magnetic holder for holding a non-magnetic sheet onto a magnetically attractive surface includes an upper half and a lower half joined at a releasable hinge. The lower half is adapted for magnetic retention onto a magnetically attractive surface while the upper half selectively pivots relative to the lower half to allow gripping and releasing of an object from between portions of the upper and lower halves. A first magnet member is disposed in the lower half of the holder for magnetically coupling the two-piece holder to the magnetically attractive surface while a second magnet member is disposed in the upper half of the holder for magnetically coupling the first end of the upper half to the lower half. The upper half has a curvilinear body that defines a first end and a second end.Type: GrantFiled: January 4, 2006Date of Patent: December 30, 2008Inventor: Thomas Killion

Patent number: 6754937Abstract: A memo clip with mounting pins for releasably holding articles to an adjacent object comprises a clamping portion and a mounting portion. The clamping portion has first and second clamping members operatively connected to one another and movable between an open position and a substantially closed position for releasably holding an article therebetween. A biasing member connected to the first and second clamping members biases them toward their closed position. The mounting portion of the clip is operatively connected to the clamping portion and has at least one mounting prong that is adapted for insertion in and securement to the adjacent object for mounting the clip to the adjacent object. The mounting prong is movable between a safety position with an insertion end of the prong substantially flush against the first clamping member and an in-use position with the insertion end spaced from the first clamping member to facilitate insertion of the mounting prong into the adjacent object.Type: GrantFiled: January 10, 2003Date of Patent: June 29, 2004Assignee: Magnet, LLCInventor: Robert Martin

Patent number: 6385812Abstract: A vehicle floor mat affixation device includes at least two tines or hook members formed on respective helical paths around an axis of the affixation device and ending in sharpened points. The preferably tempered stainless steel hook members are adapted to easily pierce vehicle floor carpeting and to be screwed into place. A reverse face of the affixation device includes a panel of releasable fastening material that is designed to mate with a similar panel of releasable fastening material in the vehicle floor mat. The present invention resists affixation device pull out and shear forces applied to the mat with respect to the carpeting on which the mat is placed, but nonetheless permits easy removal and replacement of the vehicle floor mat and of the affixation devices themselves.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 2000Date of Patent: May 14, 2002Inventor: David S. Patent number: 5636408Abstract: A clip configured to secure a floor mat to the interior floor of an automobile. The clip includes a recess in which a peripheral edge of the floor mat is captured, and a lip which engages an aperture provided in the floor mat. The clip is able to accommodate a wide variety of floor mats in a manner that essentially eliminates the potential for the floor mat to shift on the floor of the automobile, substantially without regard to the thickness of the floor mat. In an alternate embodiment, the clip is anchored to the interior floor of the automobile in the same manner but is provided with a post member which is adapted to be secured within an aperture provided in the floor mat. In addition, extensive flexing and bending of the clip is not necessary to secure the floor mat, such that the clip is capable of repeated use. The structure and manufacture of the clip is uncomplicated, such that the clip is relatively inexpensive to manufacture.Type: GrantFiled: January 10, 1994Date of Patent: June 10, 1997Inventor: Ronald J. Patent number: 5273480Abstract: A drive unit of a vehicle toy realizes a high-speed performance and a large-torque performance, is excellent in operability and provides improved battery life. In the drive unit, there is provided a motor gear driven by a radio-controlled motor, first and second drive gears for independently driving left-hand and right-hand wheels, first and second intermediate gears for causing the first and second drive gears to rotate at a lower speed, and an idler gear meshing with one of the intermediate gears to cause the first and second drive gears to rotate in opposite directions. A travelling gear assembly is rotatably driven by the motor gear to travel along a path between a forward position for forward vehicle toy drive and a turn position for vehicle toy turning, the travelling gear assembly directly driving the first and second drive gears in the forward position and driving the same gears through the first and second intermediate gears and the idler gear in the turn position.Type: GrantFiled: October 26, 1992Date of Patent: December 28, 1993Assignee: Taiyo Kogyo Co., Ltd.Inventor: Shohei Suto

Patent number: 5148581Abstract: A clip device for attaching an article and an adjacently positioned object in a predetermined orientation with respect to each other. A clamp which includes a first and second portion, is releasably maintained in a substantially closed orientation by a biased member. The clamp is pivotally mounted about a securement member. The securement member includes two substantially parallel positioned prongs which are insertable into the adjacently positioned object. The prongs each have an insertion tip, for initial insertion into the object, and an angled section located near the back end of the clamp. Extending at one angle between each prong and a region of the securement member about which the clamp is pivotally mounted is an extension section.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 1992Date of Patent: September 22, 1992Assignee: Cobbs Manufacturing CompanyInventor: Jerome Hartmann

Patent number: 4860402Abstract: A retainer clip to fixedly position a mat relative to an underlying carpet particularly suited to automotive environments. The retainer clip is formed from a single piece of generally rectangularly shaped resilient material which has a cut-out cut in a first portion thereof, the cut-out including a series of V-cuts at one end and a control member at the other end. The retainer clip further has two pointed members cut along each edge of a second portion thereof. The retainer clip is then stamped so that the end thereof adjacent the V-cuts is bent thereby causing the V-cuts to erupt as teeth, and the two pointed members are bent so as to be laterally displaced, thereby forming two prongs. The retainer clip is then bent on itself to form a U-shape. In operation, the two prongs are caused to enter the carpet backing in order to anchor the retainer clip thereto.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 1988Date of Patent: August 29, 1989Inventor: Ronald J.
