Abstract: A window shade system comprising a roller tube, a top casing, and a shade having a first end engaged with the roller tube and a second end engaged with the top casing such that the shade forms a bight between its ends that separates the shade into a front portion and a back portion. A rod is disposed in the bight. A lift mechanism, typically a motor, rotates the roller tube and moves the shade between a raised position where the bight is adjacent the top casing and a lowered position where the bight is distanced from the top casing. When the shade is in the lowered position, the front portion of the shade comprises a decorative fabric layer and the back portion comprises a sound attenuating layer, such as a polymer film with filler material or mass loaded vinyl. The window shade system typically comprises side casings that have channels for receiving the side edges of the shade.

Abstract: A method for forming a fastener product includes folding a sheet material about a longitudinal fold line to form a longitudinal edge portion overlapping only an adjacent portion of the sheet material, leaving another portion of the sheet material exposed as a remainder portion. The folded sheet material is continuously introduced to a gap adjacent to a surface of a rotating mold roll. Moldable resin is introduced between the sheet material and the mold roll to fill fixed cavities in the rotating mold roll to form portions of the fastener elements as stems bonded to one of the overlapping edge portion and the remainder portion. Additional material is bonded to the other of the overlapping edge portion and the remainder portion with the bonding occurring in the gap. The resin is solidified, then, stripped from the surface of the mold roll by pulling the stems from their respective cavities.

Abstract: A sock keeper holds clothing items together in the laundry. A flexible base extends between opposite first and second edges, and between opposite ends. One of the base ends has a first tab projecting outward adjacent the base first edge. The opposite base end has a second tab projecting outward adjacent the base second edge. The tabs are thereby spaced apart, allowing manual grasping of the tabs separately. A flexible tail extends from a proximal end adjacent the base first edge to an opposite distal end. The tail surface is made from the loop portion of hook-and-loop material, to ensure that the tail surface does not catch on any clothing items in the wash. The tail closely encircles the clothing items. A base panel on the base upper surface is made from the hook portion of hook-and-loop material, so as to releasably engage the tail surface, defining a primary fastener. The base panel ends releasably engage one another above the tail distal end, defining a secondary fastener.

Abstract: This invention provides the pet owner with a leash that has a readily accessible storage area for empty excrement collecting bags. Because of its simple design, any additional bulk added to the leash because of this invention is negligible. Consequently, the leash can be folded and stored as usual; the pet owner need not think of or care for additional gadgets attached to the leash. Also, because of its simple design, this invention allows the pet owner to remove only the excrement collection bag needed in the ready use position. Once the excrement collecting bag has been used, it can be attached to the invention so that the excrement does not fall out of the excrement collecting bag.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a silent surface fastener, wherein the surface fastener is provided with noise suppressing means and auxiliary engaging and disengaging means, so that even if joining strength necessary for a surface fastener (1) cannot be obtained due to adoption of the noise suppressing means, not only the joining strength necessary for the surface fastener (1) is compensated by the auxiliary engaging and disengaging means, but also only a peeling noise suppressed by the noise suppressing means is generated at the time of peeling of the surface fastener because the auxiliary engaging and disengaging means generates no noise when the engagement of the surface fastener is released, and consequently, only a quiet sound of 80 dB at a maximum is generated.
Abstract: This invention relates to a fiber-made surface fastener comprising joining faces each in which a plurality of fiber-made engaging elements are provided on one surface of each flat base fabric. By specifying a structure and composition yarns of the base fabric of the same surface fastener, the ratio (A/B) of an area A of a range in which sound spectrum of a peeling-off sound Fourier-transformed in a range of 100 Hz to 15000 Hz is 100 Hz to 3000 Hz to an area B of a range in which sound spectrum of a peeling-off sound Fourier-transformed in a range of 100 Hz to 15000 Hz is 3000 Hz to 15000 Hz is 0.4 or more. Consequently, tone of a sound generated when the surface fastener is peeled off and when the surface fastener attached on a product is peeled off is shifted to a low tone side so as to reduce an uncomfortable sound to a lower tone thereby reducing a feeling of discomfort.
Abstract: Method for obtaining an improved but easily adjustable and releasable frictional engagement between two contact surfaces. According to the method, both contact surfaces are provided with material layers (2, 4) which, when there is low contact pressure between the contact surfaces, ensure that these surfaces are able to move comparatively easily in relation to each other, but, when there is higher contact pressure, these material layers engage in each other and make relative movement between the contact surfaces impossible or substantially difficult. This can be achieved by means of both contact surfaces being flocked with a layer of short fibers (5), in particular synthetic fibers. The invention also relates to an arrangement for obtaining an improved frictional engagement between two contact surfaces and to objects provided with such contact surfaces.

Abstract: A fastening element for hygiene articles. The fastening element presents a first longitudinal direction and a second transverse direction in the form of a longitudinal section. The fastening element includes mechanically adhering clip elements, a first section corresponding to a first support layer and a second section corresponding to a second support layer. The first section contains a first zone by which the fastening elements are attached to the hygiene article. The second section contains a second zone arranged outside of the first section in the transverse direction in which the clip elements are provided. The element is folded in a zigzag manner along longitudinal folding lines and the second zone with the mechanically adhering clip elements lies outside of the zigzag folded configuration in the transverse direction.
Abstract: A releasable fastener system comprises a loop portion and a hook portion. The loop portion includes a support and a loop material disposed on one side thereof whereas the hook portion includes a support and a plurality of closely spaced upstanding hook elements extending from one side thereof. When the hook portion and loop portion are pressed together they interlock to form a releasable engagement. The resulting joint created by the engagement is relatively resistant to shear and pull forces and weak in peel strength forces. The hook elements are formed of a magnetorheological elastomer that provides a change in shape orientation and/or flexural modulus of the hook elements. In this manner, the shape orientation and/or flexural modulus of the hook elements can be remotely changed to provide a reduction or magnification in the shear and/or pull-off forces in addition to providing variable damping capabilities to the fastener system.
