  • Patent number: 8348251
Abstract: A sewing clip is provided. In one embodiment, the sewing clip securely clamps fabrics of various thicknesses, sizes, elasticity, and textures in assistance of a sewing operation. The sewing clip includes two rigid members and an elastic assembly. The two rigid members each have a first surface with a clamping and handling end and a hinge extension coupled to the first surface. When employed in a sewing operation, the clamping end of each rigid member has a tapering-width adapted to slide in a direction away from a stitching point. An elastic assembly couples the hinge extensions of each rigid member and biases the two rigid members so as to secure overlapping fabric between the clamping ends while avoiding unnecessary alteration or damage to the fabric. A recessed divot is also provided in the clamping end that allows for retention of surplus fabric.

  • Patent number: 8051541
Abstract: The present invention is directed toward a bead securement device comprising a tension spring, a first cover and a second cover. The first cover and the second cover are removably secured to the tension spring. In use, a force is exerted on the spring through the covers causing the spring to deform and the gaps between the plurality of coils on the spring expand. Once expanded, the filament may be passed in between one of these gaps so that when the force exerted on the end members of the spring is released, the filament is squeezed between the coils of the spring and held in place. The filament can be easily removed by using the covers to manipulate the end members of the spring.

  • Patent number: 5868099
Abstract: First and second pairs of arms are respectively disposed at opposite ends of a support structure. A constrainable member (e.g., a spring) is supported at its opposite ends by corresponding ones of the arms in the pairs. This is the only constrainable member in the page clamping device. When the spring is unconstrained, the arms in each pair are normally closed. The arms in each pair are pivotable independently of the arms in the other pair. The arms in each pair have at first positions camming peripheries which cause one of such arms to pivot when the other of such arms is pivoted. The arms in each pair have at second positions camming peripheries which provide a stable relationship between the arms when the arms are in an open position. The arms in each pair are disposed on the opposite sides of a book from the arms in the other pair. With the arms in the open relationship, the pages can be easily turned.

A pivot shaft having a helical shape passes through a mounting bracket of the second, pivotal plate-half. The mounting bracket has an interior opening corresponding to the shape of the helically-shaped pivot shaft. The pivot shaft is spring biased. As the pivot shaft is translated in the mounting bracket secured to the second, pivotal plate-half, such movement causes the second plate-half to pivot open or closed, depending upon the direction of translation of the pivot shaft. The spring biases the shaft in a linear direction that pivots the second plate-half into its closed, clamping position.

Abstract: This invention provides solutions to the problem of fastening a hook (53), such as a garment hanger hook (53), directly to a linear member (7), such as a clothesline (7), to which the hook (53) is hooked in the normal manner. This is accomplished by a discrete openable clasp (64-73, 77) having two jawed fastening members (64, 72), at least one fastening member (64) being bifurcated for accommodating the hook (53) within its two spaced-apart branches (65) so that it can straddle and reach past the hook (53) to clasp the linear member (7), the two fastening members (64, 72) being arranged for conjointly clasping the hook (53) and the linear member (7) together. Most embodiments of the clasp can also fasten two generally linear members (7) together in a crossing relationship. In general, an object can be indirectly fastened to a linear member (7) by being connected to a hook (53) which is fastened to a linear member (7) by the openable clasp (64-73, 77).
