Abstract: A molded plastic hanger and a clip. The clip may be used with the hanger or separately. The hanger includes a body portion and a hook portion. The body portion includes a pair of parallel arms joined together at the ends thereof and an intermediate crossbar. The swivel hook includes a stem which is connected to the body portion at the crossbar. The stem includes an annular locking recess in its periphery which is adapted to be received within a mating socket of the crossbar to thereby connect the hook portion and the body portion to each other while enabling them to be swiveled readily with respect to each other. The clip can be secured to an arm of the hanger, to any other rod-like element, or to a clothesline, for example. The clip is formed of a two-part construction. The clip comprises a pair of plastic, complementary jaws joined together by a bridge-like member. The bridge-like member is joined, at each end, to the middle portion of each of the complementary jaws by means of a living hinge.

Abstract: A clip consists of two symmetrical jaw parts each of which, in its central portion, has a set of teeth so that when the jaw parts are placed together, the teeth of one jaw part mesh with the teeth of the other jaw part. The ends of each jaw part are tapered so that when either end of the clip is pressed together the teeth act as a pivot causing the other end to open.

Abstract: A clamp for fixing a plant stem to a support wire includes a movable clamp member, a fixed clamp member, a support shaft and a spring attached to the movable and fixed clamp members. Each of the movable and fixed clamp members has a semicircular beak at its one end and an operating member at its other end. The fixed clamp member has an intermediate body portion provided with a support slot for accommodating an intermediate portion of the movable clamp member. The support shaft pivotally attaches the intermediate portion accommodated in the support slot to the fixed clamp member. The spring applies a biasing force causing the two beaks to close onto each other in the manner of a ring and the two operating members to open in a V-like manner. The body portion is provided with slits extending part way along the floor of the support slot from the beak in the direction of the operating member.

Abstract: A clothes clip, which comprises two opposite clamping members pivotally retained by a substantially U-shaped spring which bilaterally equivalently presses on the two opposite clamping members. The two opposite clamping members have two pair of parallel pivots respectively made thereon permitting one pair of parallel pivots to releasably engage with the opposite pair, and two opposite rows of guide rods alternatively engaged with one another to form a stopping structure for securing the clothes clip on the transverse rod of a clothes hanger permitting the clothes clip to move therealong.

Abstract: A pager includes a belt clip for securing the pager to another object, and a leaf spring for attaching the belt clip and pager housing together while providing a decreasing force between the belt clip and pager housing as the belt clip is opened.

Abstract: A boat latching device for securing the hull of a boat to a trailer having a bow stop bar includes a latch-catch member having a recess for receiving the bow stop bar, the latch-catch member being mounted onto the hull of the boat. The latching device also includes an overcenter pawl member having a plurality of cam surfaces which cooperate with a resilient spring. The resilient spring holds the pawl member in a locking position in which the bow stop bar is retained within the recess and in an unlocking position for permitting the release of the bow stop bar from the recess.

Abstract: The clothes-pin consists of a spring element and two identically formed members having a clamping section and a handle section. The spring element connects the two members in that on the one hand the end engages the blind hole and on the other hand it surrounds the support position.The clothes-pin is remarkable by its simple design and assembly.

Abstract: An improved self-tightening pivotable gripper is provided in a gripper having two pin members and an elongated leaf spring, in which the pin members each have a jaw and pivot arm with a pivot portion therebetween and in which the spring bends around and joins the pin members at their respective pivot portions, so that the jaws and pivot arms are positioned in opposed pivotable relationship. The improvement includes providing one of the pivot arms with a backer wall therein to support a section of the spring which extends outwardly from the pivot portion and proximate the backer wall in the inside thereof and then bends to cross diagonally and inwardly toward the pivot zone of the two pin members and extends proximate the other of the arms in a diagonal spring span, so as to contact such other arm when an outward pressure of e.g. a clothesline, is applied to the spring span so that the pivot arms are pushed apart more tightly, closing the jaws more tightly on a load e.g. a towel.

Abstract: A spring clip, particularly for use as a peg for suspending clothes from a crossbar of a hanger, has a bar-engagement clip lying between a fulcrum for pivoting movement of a pair of levers and a nip formed by one end of the pair of levers. A U-shaped spring urging those ends together has arms the outer surfaces of which lie flush with outer surfaces of the levers to form substantially flat side surfaces. The clip is integral with the spring. The ends of the arms of the spring may engage the levers by a snap-fit. The flat side surfaces may be used for the adhesive attachment of alternative mounting means for the clip, such as a double-sided adhesive pad.

Abstract: The largest structural member of the book holder is its back which is formed of injection molded flexible synthetic polymer composition material. The support for the back is molded in the plane of the back and is joined thereto by means of living hinge structure. A book clamp is formed so that it faces the back to resiliently engage the edge of a book therebetween. The book clamp is preferably unitarily formed with the back and is pivoted with respect to the back by means of a living hinge.

Abstract: A self-actuating clamp for attachment to a structural member in a subsea environment is disclosed. The clamp includes a housing having spaced side members, a transverse compression plate mounted between the members across the top of the housing and external accessory mounting surfaces. A pair of opposed, elongated jaw members have their upper portions disposed within the housing, the upper portions of which include upper ends adapted for pivotal mating engagement for permitting limited pivotal movement between the members, with the lower portions of the jaw members projecting below the housing and adapted for opposing clamping engagement with the subsea structural member. Force exerting means, which in one embodiment may comprise a pair of leaf spring assemblies, are provided to cooperate with the housing and jaw members to exert sufficient forces on the jaw members to clamp the jaw members to the exterior surface of the structural member.

Abstract: A lockable, hinged garment hanger wherein the locking mechanism is gravity actuated and substantially enclosed between spring biased hanger arms, the locking mechanism including a lock actuator arranged between first and second wedging surfaces, each carried by an associated hanger arm and facing the other hanger arm, the configuration of the wedging surfaces and the lock actuator being such that, with the hanger upright and the hanger arms closed, the wedging surfaces retain the lock actuator in a lower position to hold the hanger arms closed, the hanger arms being unlocked and opened under spring action by inverting the hanger and manually squeezing the hanger arms together slightly, enabling the lock actuator to move by gravity from its wedged locking position toward the hinged ends of the hanger arms and release the arms to open.

Abstract: A pull-apart mounting hub for mounting a scrubbing pad or the like to a drive disc on a power-driven scrubbing machine or the like. The hub has two parts: a base mounted to the drive disc, the base having a cylindrical collar and an annular shoulder; and a split-ring retainer. The split-ring retainer is resilient and generally cylindrical, and includes a retaining flange extending radially outwardly for retaining the pad, an annular lip engageable with the annular shoulder of the collar to lock the two pieces together, and a tab adjacent the split for urging the lip adjacent the split out of engagement with the annular shoulder of the collar to enable the retainer to be removed from the collar.

Abstract: Belt clip assembly for use with a portable electronic apparatus includes a mounting bracket used to join a belt clip and a housing member. A mounting bracket is inserted through a pair of slots in a housing member and holds a belt clip in place by means of a pivot pin inserted through apertures in the mounting bracket and the belt clip. A pair of shear cuts adjacent the apertures in the mounting bracket allow the pivot pin to pull through the shear cuts in the event excess forces are applied to the belt clip, thereby destroying the mounting bracket. In this manner an inexpensive mounting bracket is sacrificed to avoid damage to the housing and the belt clip.

Abstract: A method for tying balloons and the like, having apertured ends and necks, comprising the steps of: looping the neck of the balloon around a pair of movable jaws resiliently urged toward one another and defining a channel therebetween perpendicular to their plane of movement; moving the end of the balloon over the loop and through the jaws, so as to extend through the channel; and, rolling the loop over the end of the balloon, continuing toward and off the ends of the jaws, whereby the loop resiliently snaps into place, forming a knot in the neck of the balloon. The method may further comprise the step of feeding a string through one of the pair of movable jaws so as to extend through the loop prior to rolling the loop over the end of the jaws, whereby a plurality of balloons can be sequentially and automatically tied on the string.

A plastic swivel hook is connected to the body portion at a stem. The stem includes a shaft having an annular locking recess in its periphery which is adapted to be received within a mating socket of the hook to connect the hook and body portion to each other while enabling them to be swiveled readily with respect to each other. The clip is arranged for securement to the crossbar of the hanger or to any other rod-like element and is formed of a three piece construction comprising a pair of plastic jaws and a resilient U-shaped member, also formed of plastic, but having a higher tensile strength and resiliency than the plastic of the jaws.
