  • Patent number: 5850978
Abstract: A self tightening mantle retention assembly for a conical crusher. The self tightening assembly includes a locking bolt or nut provided with external threads for engaging in internally threaded bore in the head of the crusher. The locking bolt is provided with a central bore for receiving a central bolt, the threads of which engage an internally threaded aperture formed in the head or a block secured to the upper bearing supporting the head to apply a further compressive force to the locking bolt. The threaded engagement between the locking bolt and the head and between the bolt threads and the threaded aperture in which they are received, are formed such that the torque applied to the locking bolt by the crushing action on the mandel tends to further tighten the locking bolt to secure the mantle on the head of the crusher.

  • Patent number: 5732896
Abstract: A gyratory crusher includes an anti-spin mechanism which couples a lower end of the eccentric shaft of the crusher to the stationary frame of the crusher so as to prevent the eccentric shaft and associated crushing head from spinning when the crusher is not subject to a crushing load. The anti-spin mechanism includes 1) a gear train preferably formed from two sets of intermeshing gears, and 2) a torque limiter which is coupled to the gear train and which releases upon the imposition of a crushing load on the crusher so as to permit relatively slow rotation of the eccentric and crushing head counter to the direction of rotation of the main drive gear or bull gear.

  • Patent number: 5312053

A central crusher axis extends centrally through the bowl assembly. The crusher head is mounted with a central head axis at an angular deviation with respect to the central crusher axis to intersect the crusher axis at an apex. Crushing action is obtained by driving the crusher head to gyrate the angular offset of its central axis about the central crusher axis. The gyratory crusher has an adjustable stroke of gyration. Adjustability of the stroke is obtained by controllably varying the amount of angular deviation by which the crusher head gyrates about the central crusher axis.
