Abstract: A wearable surface for a device configured for material comminution wherein the wearable surface is comprised of a first metal structure attached to at least one insert via a deformation of a portion of the first metal structure by a transfer of force caused by igniting at least one explosive material, the inserts being harder than the first metal structure wherein the wear surface is sized and configured to support or retain a material to be impacted and crushed by the crushing body. The wearable surface may be, for example, a semi-autogenous layer of a roller or may be a wearable surface of a crushing body of a crushing device configured to impact, crush, or grind material such as rock, minerals, ore or agglomerated material. Devices that include such a wearable surface are also disclosed.

Abstract: A cutter assembly is presented for mounting to one or more hammers of a rotor assembly of a grinding machine. The cutter assembly includes a base, a tip and a fastener securing the base and the tip to the hammer. The base includes a key having side walls extending upwardly from a surface of the base and spatially oriented as sides of a pyramid that is truncated before reaching their apex. The tip includes a keyway having side walls extending inwardly from a lower surface into a body of the tip and spatially oriented as sides of a pyramid. The keyway mates with the key of the base. In one embodiment, the tip is reversibly mountable to the base such that cutting edges may be selectively used within grinding operations.

Abstract: A jaw assembly for a jaw crusher is disclosed where the assembly comprises a jaw stock (12), a wear plate (16), and a fastening device in the form of a bolt (34) with a square head (42) at one end and a washer (56) and fastening nut (52) positioned at an end opposite to the one end. The bolt (34) extends between the jaw stock (12) and the wear plate (16). The fastening device (34, 42, 56, 52) is operative to adopt a clamped configuration where the device provides a clamping force along a fastening axis to clamp the wear plate (16) at the jaw stock (12), and a released configuration where the fastening device does not prevent the wear plate (16) from being separated from the jaw stock (12). The fastening device (34, 42, 56, 52) is accessible from a direction that is transverse to that fastening axis, to enable the device (34, 42, 56, 52) to be changed from its clamped configuration to its released configuration.

  • Patent number: 8146846
Abstract: A wear liner for use with a brush cutter, the cutter having a cylindrical, rotatable, cutting drum carrying cutting teeth and a cover at least partially covering the drum to limit dispersal of cut material. The liner comprises a sheet of material which can be shaped to fit against the inner surface of the cover. The liner has holes on its sides for use in detachably connecting the liner with fastening means to the cover against the cover's inner surface. The liner has protective means mounted on its inner surface adjacent each hole to protect part of the fastening means located adjacent the inner surface of the liner, when the liner is mounted to the cover and the fastening means extend through the opening, from wear by material thrown by the cutter during its operation. The invention is also directed toward a brush cutter incorporating the liner.

Abstract: The replaceable insert for a hammermill hammer enables the insert to be removed and replaced by the removal and installation of a single bolt in the leading face or edge of the hammer, rather than requiring partial disassembly of the hammermill for the removal of a damaged hammer and hammer shank from its retaining rod. The insert is formed of hard and tough metal, e.g., tool steel, carbide alloy, etc., as a longitudinally and laterally symmetrical rectangular parallelepiped, the hammer shank having a cooperating relief formed therein. The symmetrical configuration allows the insert to be reversed through 180° in its installation, thereby exposing a fresh insert face after the first face has been worn or damaged. A pair of indexing pins extends from the insert, the pins fitting closely within cooperating receptacles in the hammer shank relief to secure the insert precisely within the relief.
