Parallel Material Flow Type Patents (Class 241/44)
  • Publication number: 20100075579
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for comminuting dry ice granules, comprising a housing having a flow channel for dry ice granules which can be applied, by means of compressed gas, to a surface to be cleaned, and also comprising a first comminution member for comminuting the dry ice granules which are to be dispensed. In order to provide a device of this kind with which different degrees of comminution of dry ice granules can be achieved in a simple manner, it is proposed according to the invention that the device has at least one second comminution member which can be disposed in the housing in a position in which a total degree of comminution, which is greater than the individual degree of comminution which can be achieved solely by the first comminution member, can be achieved in combination with the first comminution member. A dry ice dispensing arrangement for dispensing a mixture of compressed gas and dry ice granules is also proposed, having a device of the above kind.

  • Patent number: 6575390
Abstract: A pretreatment apparatus for raw materials for production of reduced iron pretreats the raw materials, comprising an iron material, such as iron ore, and other raw materials, such as coal and flux, by a dryer, classifiers, a roll press, and a vertical mill, and feeds the pretreated raw materials to a pelletizer via a feed bin. At least two fluidized mixers for mixing the classified raw materials, one of the fluidized mixers for storage and the other fluidized mixer for supply, are provided for batch treatment. The pretreatment apparatus can uniformize the crushed particle sizes of iron ore, coal, etc. different in hardness, stably supply homogeneously mixed raw materials, and simplify pelletization-side facilities.

  • Patent number: 5868327
Abstract: The apparatus produces batches of mixture in first and second mixing chambers containing liquid, each chamber having a liquid port and a mixer. A valve, communicating with the liquid ports, controls liquid flow relative to each chamber, and a main pump and conduit communicates with the valve to displace liquid. A staging tank communicates with the conduit to receive liquid therefrom and has a main discharge port for discharging into a dispersal container. The staging tank is elevated to permit a rapid gravity feed into the dispersal container, so as to reduce waiting time. A shredder to shred material within a hopper prior to discharge into the mixing chamber can be provided. The method of the invention permits the discharging of a first batch of mixture from the first chamber to the staging tank from where it can be dispensed, while preparing a second batch in the second chamber, which is then discharged to the staging tank.

  • Patent number: 5655718
Abstract: An apparatus for treating process material includes a vessel into which process material can be introduced, an arrangement for introducing steam into the interior of the vessel to heat and impart moisture to process material in the vessel, and several fluid transport conduits extending helically through the vessel for conveying heated fluid through the vessel between opposite ends of the vessel in order to raise the temperature and pressure within the vessel to treat the material while also allowing the moisture content of the process material to be reduced. The fluid transport conduits are also configured to contact the process material and assist in treating and densifying the material. The vessel can also be adapted to be pivoted so that the forward end of the vessel can be selectively positioned above and below a horizontal position. The vessel can also be interconnected with one or more similarly configured vessels to define a system for treating process material.

  • Patent number: 4267981
Abstract: A grinding system and method for grinding mineral ore which is adapted for use where ore is required to be fed for grinding from a supply source at a substantially constant rate of feed, and in which the grinding characteristics of the ore and the power required to grind a predetermined weight of the ore vary unpredictably during the grinding operation, comprising a primary semi-autogenous grinding mill and a primary fully autogenous grinding mill connected in parallel relation with each other to the ore supply source, first drive means for driving the semi-autogenous grinding mill, power sensing means for measuring the input power required to drive the semi-autogenous grinding mill, and means for varying the ore feed rate to the semi-autogenous grinding mill whereby to maintain the input power to the semi-autogenous grinding mill at a substantially constant value or set point.

  • Patent number: 4265407
Abstract: A method of producing a thick slurry of powdered coal and water. It includes feeding less coal than is required for the thick slurry into a ball mill, and introducing all of the water required so that a thin slurry is produced. The remaining coal required is pulverized in a dry grinder, and the thin slurry and dry powdered coal are mixed to produce the desired thick slurry.
