  • Patent number: 8500050
Abstract: A food waste disposer has a grinding mechanism that improves fineness and speed of grinding food waste, and also controls or meters the size of the comminuted food waste particles that are discharged from the food waste disposer. It does so by utilizing a more aggressive grind ring of the grinding mechanism that includes horizontal shredder elements in addition to openings, and blocking all except the openings in a minor circumferential portion of the grind ring from discharging comminuted food waste and water to a discharge outlet. In an aspect, a resilient seal is used to seal the adapter ring to a housing of an upper end bell of the grinding section and also provide a seal for a rotating shredder plate assembly of the food waste disposer.

Abstract: A method of and system for liquefying snow. The system includes a rotor-stator device mounted within a melting reservoir and having a slotted rotor and a slotted stator. Snow and/or ice is deposited in a water bath in the melting reservoir. The rotor rotates at high speed, hurling particles of crystalline snow from the tips of the rotor slots onto the perpendicular faces of the stator, thereby fracturing the crystals and promoting liquefication. The high mechanical forces generated during operation of the rotor-stator device also contribute a significant amount of heat that is applied directly to the snow. The system also includes ancillary assemblies, such as heat-exchangers and snow-transport means. The system is operable as a stationary unit or a mobile unit.

Abstract: A gas-flow type chipping machine with a rotating beater-wheel system. In order to chip the feed material, this material is delivered axially into the central area of the beater wheel, where it is deflected and moved in a radial direction to the chipper tools that are arranged in a circle around the beater wheel. In order to ensure that the wear is even along the length of the chipper tools, at least two impact surfaces are arranged so as to be axially staggered to the depth of the chipping space, the impact surface that follows in the axial direction of delivery projecting beyond the axial projection of the preceding impact surface.
