  • Patent number: 11690480
Abstract: A grinder for plant substances includes a first surface and an opposing second surface that is separated from the first surface by a first longitudinal gap so that the first surface and the second surface define a receptacle within which a plant substance may be received. The second surface includes holes through which ground pieces of the plant substance may pass and at least one of the first surface and the second surface includes bumps that extend into, but not across, the receptacle. The bumps encourage rolling friction between the plant substance and the bumps so that the plant substance is ground into pieces small enough to pass through the holes.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a grinder, comprising a container bottle for containing a spice, a grinding assembly interconnected with the container bottle and used for grinding the spice and a casing for accommodating the grinding assembly. A feeding mechanism for pushing the spice in the container bottle into the grinding assembly is further provided between the container bottle and the grinding assembly in the casing. Compared with the prior art, the design of the feeding mechanism in the present invention provides a solution for feeding of a spice with large volume and/or a relatively smooth spice with small friction in the prior art, so that the grinder provided by the present invention is applicable to not only grinding of a granular spice, but also grinding of a leafy spice with large volume and light weight.

  • Patent number: 7500628
Abstract: Various mechanisms for reducing food waste in a food waste disposer are disclosed. In each of the reduction mechanisms, structures are provided for shearing food waste as it passes through or past a rotating shredder plate of the disposer. In one embodiment, the reduction mechanism has a rotatable plate coupled to a rotational source and positioned for rotation relative to an inner wall of a stationary ring. The plate has a fixed lug attached to the rotatable plate and has a movable lug attached to the rotatable plate. In another embodiment, the reduction mechanism includes a rotatable plate coupled to a rotational source and a stationary plate disposed adjacent the rotatable plate. The stationary plate or impeller defines a plurality of apertures therethrough. At least one first portion of the rotatable plate or impeller shears over at least some of the apertures in the stationary plate to shear the food waste.

  • Patent number: 7287713
Abstract: An ice shaver for a beverage dispenser for charging solid granular ice into cups and shaving granular ice and charging it into cups. An ice charging port opening arranged to expose the part of one end surface of the impeller in the direction of the impeller central axis including the spindle allows granular ice to be charged into the ice shaver body while being agitated by the impeller ameliorate clogging of the bottom end side of the introduction pipe. Also, because the impeller is rotated at a low speed in discharging granular ice, the discharge speed of the ice is reduced, reducing scattering of beverage already in the cup. Furthermore, when an overload occurs in a motor due to the impeller locking caused by clogging with granular ice, driving of the impeller is stopped. Therefore, the motor and a motor drive section are protected from damage due to over current and heating.

  • Patent number: 7108210
Abstract: A comminution machine has a machine housing and a closed working cylinder with comminution holes arranged therein. Tools are arranged on a coaxial shaft within the working cylinder. The tools have vanes revolving at a spacing of at most a diameter of the comminution holes practically contactless relative to the cylinder. The vanes have outer edges slanted counter to a relative rotational direction between cylinder and tools. The shaft orientation and the axial orientation of the cylinder deviate from a vertical line. The working cylinder has a first end face opening connected to a feed channel and a lower cylinder half connected to a removal channel. A second end face opening whose diameter is at least as large as the greatest diameter of the working cylinder, is closed by a freely accessible lid. The shaft extends from the feed channel to the lid but does not penetrate the lid.

Abstract: The present invention is an improved rotary granular material cutting apparatus and knife blade assembly. The apparatus comprises a perforated drum that may receive granular material into its interior. The grains of material extend through perforations in the spinning drum where they encounter a series of knife blades. The blades are arranged to form angles of contact with tangents to the spinning drum. Those angles of contact are steeper on the side regions of the spinning drum tan on the bottom regions. The apparatus also includes a grooved interior baffle to disburse input material within the drum, and knife-mounting wedges that include toe or base stops to help secure knife it blades in arrangement about the drum.
