  • Patent number: 10118786
Abstract: Provided is an apparatus with automatic belt tensioning. A winding seat includes a first gear and a winding portion fixed at the first gear. A belt is windable around the winding portion, and the first elastic element is connected with the winding portion thus to wind the belt around the winding portion. A rotation preventing element includes a protrusion. When the protrusion retains the first gear, the winding portion is locked to prevent the belt being wound. When the belt is pulled, it drives the protrusion to be separated from the first gear and drives the winding portion to rotate. When the belt is released and the winding speed of the belt is decreased to a certain degree, the protrusion retains the first gear to prevent the belt being wound.

  • Patent number: 5104057
Abstract: A missile data link filament (12) dispenser (10) is located within an enclosure (20) having a single eyelet opening (26) through which the filament feeds on launch. A quantity of a damping gas having an effective density of at least about two times that of air (28) is provided within the enclosure (20). The gas serves to damp the helical motion of the filament by absorbing its rotational energy, to inhibit ballooning of the filament (12) as it is paid out from the dispenser (10).

  • Patent number: 5000397
Abstract: A cassette for storing and dispensing filamentary material to a machine for producing hollow articles by filament winding includes a housing having an outlet; a spindle supported internally of the housing; a hollow roll rotatably mounted on the spindle; and a reel of filamentary material carried by the hollow roll. The reel is fixed for rotation with the hollow roll and the hollow roll is rotatable in one direction to permit unwinding of the filamentary material from the reel. A force opposing the unwinding of the filamentary material is provided by a device located internally of the hollow roll. An adjustable braking mechanism is provided to establish a first tension on the filamentary material and an additional tensioning force is applied to the filamentary material by a complementary tensioning arrangement.

  • Patent number: 4958780
Abstract: In combination with a spool upon which elongated stock such as ribbon, wire, thread etc. is to be wound and from which the elongated stock is to be unwound; an electromagnet with cooperating armature and a yoke; the device is to be selectively used as a brake and as a clutch. This is accomplished by a permanent air gap from 0.1 to 1.5 mm between the yoke and the armature to remain effective in the energized state. On application of a relatively high voltage to the electromagnet positive coupling obtains between the electromagnet and the armature and, therefore between a shaft connected to the electromagnet and the armature as thereafter being connected to the spool; for positive common rotation of these parts. Upon application of a lower voltage to the electromagnet, a brake force becomes effective between the electromagnet on one hand, plus armature and the spool subassembly on the other hand.

  • Patent number: 4958784
Abstract: The collapsible spool holder consists of a base plate, two pivot arms, two pins to hold the arms on the sides of the base plate and a shaft that snaps into the pivot arms. It is used to hold fishing line spools so as a person can replenish the fishing line on the reel of their poles. First one screws the base plate onto a hard, smooth surface (tackle box, boat, etc.), then the shaft is snapped out of the pivot arms. Next the shaft is inserted into the middle of the spool and snapped back into the slots of pivot arms. The product stays stationary so as one could unwind the fishing line from the spool which rotates with its flanges in contact with the relieved radius or shallow concave groove upon pivoting of the arms under gravity influence onto the reel of one's fishing pole.

Abstract: A tensioning device for a fishing line is provided and consists of a base member secured to a stationary structure. The base member has two outwardly extending arms, one of which is adjustable toward and away from the other. A take off spool of bulk fishing line is rotatably supported between the arms of the base member. Resistance to the take off spool is applied during rotation to keep the fishing line under tension when transferred onto a fishing reel by one person.

  • Patent number: 4842215
Abstract: A package strapping machine is provided with a tape rolling up device for rolling up excess tape drawn off of a tape reel. A package is strapped by a thermoplastic tape being drawn off of the tape reel and looped around the package. The tape reel is fixed to a rotatably supported shaft. The tape rolling up device includes a friction member surrounding the shaft, and a spiral spring has an inner end connected to the friction member and an outer end connected to a fixed point. The shaft includes a surface contacting the friction member, so that when the tape is drawn off, rotation of the shaft causes rotation of the friction member and tightening of the spiral spring. If tape continues to be drawn off after the spiral spring is completely tightened, slip occurs between the friction member and the shaft contact surface to allow the additional tape to be drawn off.
