  • Publication number: 20150136889
Abstract: The present spinning reel includes a reel body unit, a spool shaft, a spool, a drag mechanism, and a seal member. The spool includes a line winding cylinder part and a front flange. The drag mechanism includes a spool braking unit and a drag adjuster. The seal member is elastically deformable. The seal member protrudes from the drag adjuster side toward the front flange so as to close a space that is formed between the front flange and the drag adjuster. The seal member is configured to abut the front flange disposed on the front side of the line winding cylinder part.

  • Patent number: 8579222
Abstract: A motorized fishing reel device with a selectively actuated rotably mounted and motorized spool with a fishing line wound thereon. A mechanism for guiding the winding and unwinding of the line wound in a spool. The mechanism ensures that the line is properly wound when the spool is substantially coaxially aligned with the line in order to provide an ergonomically compatible handling of the device. A motor assembly with step-down and step-up gear assemblies that provide the rotational energy to the spool assembly and the reciprocating movement to a traveling pin with a line guiding roller at its distal end. A leg assembly that doubles as a storage compartment for back-up batteries is rotably mounted at one end to the housing assembly.

  • Publication number: 20120104135
Abstract: A fishing reel that achieves the smooth winding and unwinding of a fishing line is provided. The fishing reel includes a line guide provided with fishing line guide hole which is formed into a rectangular shape viewed from the front of the guide body and a pillar movable in a vertical direction in the vicinity in the anterior posterior direction of the line guide. The pillar is provided with fishing line guide member extending along the axis and the pillar is configured to be movable between a first position where the fishing line is held in the center portion and a second position retracted from the first position. The pillar may assume the first position by moving downwardly for a fishing line winding operation so as to cause the fishing line guide member to guide the fishing line to the center portion of the fishing line guide hole.

  • Patent number: 8047461
Abstract: A device for the quick removal of spent fishing line from a fishing reel comprised of a cylindrical housing for a rechargeable battery and a high-speed motor is directly coupled to a threaded shaft capable of holding an empty spool that is held in place by a conventional fastening means. In use, a loose end of the spent fishing line on the fishing reel is fastened to an empty spool, the reel and the spool aligned, and the device activated. The spent line is unwound from the rod reel making it ready for replacement in a conventional manner. The compacted spent line can be kept to be re-used later or discarded.

  • Publication number: 20100006686
Abstract: A spool braking device and a spool braking method for increasing spool braking capability. The spool braking device includes a reel attached to a fishing rod in a detachable manner. A rotatable spool is arranged in the reel. A fishing line is wound to the spool. A brake mechanism electronically brakes rotation of the spool. An acceleration sensor detects swing acceleration produced when the fishing rod is swung and generates an acceleration signal. A brake control unit determines whether or not the spool needs to be braked based on the acceleration signal and drives the brake mechanism.

  • Publication number: 20080173743
Abstract: A spinning reel includes a reel unit, a rotation transmission mechanism, a handle assembly, a rotor, a spool shaft, an oscillating mechanism, and a spool. The reel unit includes a reel body that has a first opening, and a first lid member that covers the first opening. The rotation transmission mechanism includes a master gear shaft that is rotatably mounted to the reel unit, and a master gear that is disposed on the master gear shaft integrally rotatably about a first shaft axis X. The reel body includes a first rotation support portion that rotatably supports the master gear shaft on a master gear side of the spool shaft. The first lid member includes a second rotation support portion that rotatably supports the master gear shaft on a first lid member side of the master gear.

  • Patent number: 6032892
Abstract: A fishing reel eliminates line twist as the fishing line is taken on or off of the spool by utilizing a non-rotating nose member and line pick-up member in combination with a rotational spool and a line-engaging control mechanism which at the beginning of the cast retracts the nose member against a forward end of the housing to capture the fishing line therebetween and, toward the end of the cast, a separate release mechanism manually releases the nose member to permit the fishing line to play freely off of the spool. The release mechanism may be a manual or automatic casting control mechanism which is mounted just forwardly of the handle portion of a fishing rod and is operable to return the nose member to an open position in response to a forward casting motion of the rod and reel.

  • Patent number: 5878523
Abstract: An automatic cut-off motorized reeling assembly is provided including a fishing pole with a reel attached thereto at an inboard end thereof. The reel has a handle rotatably coupled thereto and a spool rotatably coupled thereto about an axis perpendicular to an axis about which the handle rotates. A gear assembly is connected between the spool and the handle for automatically reeling the reel only upon the receipt of voltage thus requiring the manual reeling of the reel upon the lack of receipt of voltage. A switch is connected between a power source and the gear means with a deactuated orientation for precluding the supply of voltage to the motor and an actuated orientation adapted to supply voltage to the motor. A cut off mechanism is provided for unconditionally precluding the supply of voltage to the gear assembly upon a load being detected on a line of the pole, as when a fish is caught, thereby requiring the user to manually reel the line.
