With Manual Actuator To Shift Guide To Unwind Position Patents (Class 242/236)
  • Patent number: 11419323
Abstract: A reel for fishing line or the like provides for extremely rapid payout by releasing the line to unwind by sliding rapidly around a guide surrounding the line spool and by rotation of the line spool itself. A handle extending rearwardly from the reel controls a line guide preventing sliding of the fishing line around the guide and providing controllable friction and locking of rotation of the line spool only when actuated by the user to permit retraction of the line or controlled tensioning of the line.

  • Patent number: 9456595
Abstract: Provided is a fishing reel including a level wind device including a fishing line guide body (60) through which the fishing line (S) unreeled from the spool is threaded. The fishing line guide body (60) includes a fishing line threading section (60A) that forms an elongated opening (65) of which a height in a vertical direction is larger than a width in a left and right direction. The body (60) is rotated forward and the section (60A) stands up in the vertical direction during the unwinding of the fishing line. The body is rotated rearward and the section (60A) falls down during the winding of the fishing line, so that a fishing line guide section (70) comes into contact with the fishing line (S) threaded through the fishing line threading section (60A).

  • Patent number: 6070825
Abstract: A forearm casting device has a body, a closed face fishing reel secured to the body towards a first end thereof and a spool for winding fishing line. A hood is located over the spool. A line guide pin is displaceable between a retracted position substantially within the hood and a protruding position protruding from the hood for guiding the fishing line onto the spool. A reel release displaces the line guide pin between the protruding and retracted positions. A guide for guiding the fishing line onto and off the closed face fishing reel is mounted towards an opposite end of the body. The body is secured to a forearm of an operator so the fishing line extends generally parallel to the forearm towards a hand of the operator and the forefinger of the hand is able to engage the fishing line forward of the guide.

  • Patent number: 6032892
Abstract: A fishing reel eliminates line twist as the fishing line is taken on or off of the spool by utilizing a non-rotating nose member and line pick-up member in combination with a rotational spool and a line-engaging control mechanism which at the beginning of the cast retracts the nose member against a forward end of the housing to capture the fishing line therebetween and, toward the end of the cast, a separate release mechanism manually releases the nose member to permit the fishing line to play freely off of the spool. The release mechanism may be a manual or automatic casting control mechanism which is mounted just forwardly of the handle portion of a fishing rod and is operable to return the nose member to an open position in response to a forward casting motion of the rod and reel.

  • Patent number: 5803384
Abstract: A casting control mechanism for fishing reels includes a weighted member slidably mounted within the handle portion of the fishing rod and which in response to forward casting of the rod and reel will advance into engagement with a trip arm extending from the rod into the reel to release one or more line pick-up members utilized to control the advancement of a fishing line from the reel; and the weighted member is adjustably positioned within the handle portion by the fisherman to control the point of release of the fishing line in response to casting of the line.

  • Patent number: 5788172
Abstract: Fishing reel improvements release and reengage fishing line on a reel with braking in a manner permitting greater casting speed and precision and better control of the line fishing. Thus, by pressing a first manual line feeding lever, line may be freely dispensed at a speed controlled by a second manual braking lever.

  • Patent number: 5782419
Abstract: A fishing reel is disclosed having a frame including a housing, and an operating mechanism on the frame that is placeable selectively in a retrieve mode and a cast mode, wherein the operating mechanism includes a line carrying spool, a first structure for retrieving line onto the spool with the fishing reel in the retrieve mode, an actuator operably connected to the frame for guided sliding translatory movement between a first position and a second position, and a second structure cooperating between the first structure and actuator for changing the fishing reel from the retrieve mode to the cast mode as an incident of the actuator moving from its first position into its second position. The first structure including a shaft with an axis, the shaft being operably connected to the spool and repositionable by the second structure as an incident of the actuator moving from its first position into its second position.

  • Patent number: 5467932
Abstract: A spincast reel, having a line spool which is aligned along the axis of a fishing rod. A rotating cap on the front of the spool, having retractable fingers, serves to wind up the line on the spool during retrieval. The line passes from the spool through a moveable line control arm, which is connected to a digit actuated lever for movement from an aligned position ahead of the spool, continuously through to a position at right angles to the axis of the spool. The line passes through a line guide in the line control arm; the line guide is lined with a freely spinning surface, supported on ball bearings.

  • Patent number: 4884762
Abstract: A bail arm turning mechanism in a spinning reel is disclosed. The spinning reel has first and second ears for pivotally supporting a bail arm lever and bail arm cam, respectively, to which each end of the bail arm is connected. A manual operation lever is pivotally supported to the first ear, and a rotational lever is provided in the first ear. The rotational lever has front, intermediate and rear portion. The front portion is engageable with the bail arm lever, and the rear portion is abuttable to the manual operation lever. Upon manipulation of the manual operation lever, the rear portion of the rotational lever is pivotally moved about an axis of the intermediate portion, so that the front portion pivots, to thereby rotate the bail arm lever, to thus provide bail arm turning.
