Between Spool Shaft And Frame Patents (Class 242/245)
  • Patent number: 5277379
Abstract: A spinning reel which is for fishing and includes a drag mechanism and a shift mechanism which is for shifting a spool between a drag state and a release state. The reel has a shift mechanism provided between a spool and a spool shaft so that a rotor turning mechanism, a spool sliding mechanism and so forth, which are provided in a casing of the reel, are not restricted. The reel may be provided with a return mechanism by which the shift mechanism in a state of keeping the spool in the state of rotating freely from the action of the drag mechanism is returned to a state of keeping the spool in the state of receiving the action.

  • Patent number: 5199664
Abstract: A fishing reel having a drag brake is disclosed which has a line receiving pool which is allowed to run free when the drag brake is disengaged. The drag brake is located at an opposite end of the fishing reel housing from the spool and acts on a spindle of the spool at that point. In the vicinity of the spool, a disengageable connection is provided for connecting the spool to a spindle of the fishing reel. The clutch is engaged by rotation of a driving handle. Further provided is an over-run brake located in the vicinity of the spool which acts between the spool and the spindle only upon relative rotation of the spool with respect to the spindle when the drag brake is disengaged. Further included are push rods which, upon displacement, causes disengagement of the spool from the spindle and pawls, carried by a ring surrounding the spindle, which may engage various spaced teeth formed integral with a bush fixed to a rotor of the fishing reel.

  • Patent number: 5186412
Abstract: A spool braking force switching device for fishing constructed such that a clutch switching mechanism enables selectively controlling the rotation of the spool shaft. The spool shaft can be freely rotated in one state while a braking force is exerted to the rotation of the spool shaft in the case winding of the fishline is desired. According to the invention, the construction of the reel can be simplified, mounting space and operating range are reduced, whereby the miniatarizing of the reel can be obtained, designing and manufacturing are easy, and efficiency for disassembling and assembling can be improved.

  • Patent number: 5121888
Abstract: A fishing reel with disengageable spool is disclosed comprising a first groove and a second groove formed in the vicinity of the front end of the spool support shaft. The spool comprises a resilient key engageable in one or other of the first and second grooves. When the spool is engaged in the first groove, a key of the shaft is engaged in a passage in a rear wall of the spool, preventing relative rotation of the spool on the shaft. When the resilient key is engaged in the second groove, the transverse key swivels freely in a space of the spool, allowing the spool to rotate on the shaft. Disengagement of the spool is obtained by axial translation of the spool on the shaft.

  • Patent number: 5118048
Abstract: An improved spinning reel is disclosed wherein the spinning reel has a rotor drag system assembly located on its handle. The rotor drag system allows the fisherman to apply a selective amount of frictional force to the reel handle and reel main drive gear. The selective frictional force, when set less than the force on the spool drag assembly, allows the reel main drive gear and the fishing reel rotor driven thereby, to remain stationary while fighting a fish, even when the reel handle is being turned. This prevents subsequent twist from being imparted to the fishing line. The rotor drag incorporates a rotor drag assembly containing an input shaft which drivingly engage the spool drive shaft. A clutch plate is provided between the reel handle and the input shaft to provide selective transmission of rotational handle force to the input shaft.

  • Patent number: 4905398
Abstract: A fishing pole with indicator means particularly useful in fishing through the ice. The pole is preferably constructed primarily of wood and includes a nose piece on the end of which is a rod above which is mounted an elongated, flexible member attached to the nose piece and extending at an angle vertically above the rod. Extending through the nose piece is an adjustable member forming an electrial contact which the flexible member engages when a pull is exerted on its end by the fish line. The adjustable contact member determines the sensitivity of the indicator means which includes a buzzer and an LED light operatively connected to the adjustable contact member and elongated flexible member. A reel mounted on top of the handle includes a groove formed between two flanges. A plurality of radially extending slots are cut into the flanges and a rubber band is inserted in two of the adjacent slots for regulating the amount of fish line that can be let out of the reel.

  • Patent number: 4834307
Abstract: A fishing reel of the fixed-spool type comprises a frame and a spool shaft rotatably mounted therein. A line spool is non-rotatably mounted on the end of the spool shaft projecting from the frame. The reel has a transmission for changing the movement of a handle, both into a rotary movement of a rotor for winding up a line on the line spool and into a movement of an eccentric device for axial oscillation of the spool shaft. The reel further has an adjustable friction brake intended to allow the line spool to rotate under frictional drag in relation to the frame. Further, the fishing reel has a friction brake release device which is operated by the handle and which, when the handle is turned backwards (in a direction contrary to the direction of retrieve), acts on the preset friction brake so that it can be released and thereafter readily reengaged.
