  • Patent number: 10869468
Abstract: A variable speed motor driven fishing reel is powered by a brushless DC motor and adapted for remote control operation by adapting a salt water bait-casting reel with a motorized drive assembly including an end plate having an environmentally sealed cover removably connected thereto, and mounted on the opposite side of the reel from the manual crank, the drive assembly including a brushless DC out-runner motor having an output shaft connected to a planetary gear system configured to power rotation of the fishing reel spool axel for driving the spool. A power cable provides 12.0 volt DC power from a suitable on-board vessel power source. An electronic motor control system allows for variation of DC motor speed via a manually actuated speed control knob. A remote control device is adapted for wireless communication with the electronic motor control system to allow for remote activation of the DC motor in low and high speed modes.

  • Patent number: 8844854
Abstract: An electrically powered reel for fishing is presented, which enables the operator to perform a series of sounding operations smoothly and quickly and has superior graspability and holdability as well. The electrically powered reel for fishing includes: a spool which is provided between left and right side plates and of a main body of the reel, and around which a fishing line is wound; a drive motor which is provided in the main body of the reel and rotates and drives the spool; and an operation member which adjusts a power of the drive motor. In addition, when a space between an operation portion of the operation member and an operation portion of a clutch-OFF switching member is connected by a virtual shortest straight line, each component member of the reel is arranged so as to avoid the virtual straight line.

  • Patent number: 7398939
Abstract: An electric fishing reel has a power transmission mechanism for transmitting rotational driving force based on a drive motor and a manual handle to a spool; and a clutch mechanism for switching the power transmission mechanism between a power transmitting state and a power cutoff state. The power transmission mechanism includes a planetary gear mechanism disposed on the drive motor; a first rotor with which the planetary gear mesh; a second rotor which is driven and coupled to the first rotor through a belt; and a clutch actuating member fitted and rotationally locked in the second rotor to be movable in an axial direction and is moved in the axial direction. An engaging portion of the clutch actuating member is capable of switching the power transmission mechanism between a power transmitting state and a power cutoff state by engaging with or disengaging from a retaining portion of the spool.

  • Patent number: 7175120
Abstract: An electric fishing reel which is provided with a speed change mechanism excellent in silence and durability while realizing the size reduction. The electric fishing reel comprises: a drive motor for rotationally driving a spool rotatably supported on a reel body; a speed change mechanism rotatably mounted on a motor spindle and including an output gear having a rotational speed switched into a high speed or a low speed in accordance with the rotational direction of the motor spindle; and a power transmission mechanism for transmitting the rotation of the output gear to the spool. The speed change mechanism switches the rotational speed of the output gear by regulating the transmission of the rotation of the motor spindle with respect to the output gear.
